‘Torchwood’ Season 3 Releases A New Teaser Trailer
Children of Earth

The kickass BBC America sci-fi series Torchwood is back for a third season this July and the network has just released a new teaser trailer to get fans pumped up for the new season:

It’s been called the new “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” in that the characters and storylines are very similar in supernatural awesomeness to the Joss Whedon masterpiece. In fact, James Marsters (who played Spike in BtVS and Angel) had a role in Torchwood last season. Will he return for more this coming season? Season 3 of the series has been subtitled, Children of Earth … which conjures up all sorts of ominous images in my head. After the jump, check out the trailer for season 3 of Torchwood and see what’s in store for yourself …

HOLLLY SHIZZZ! It looks amazing! No previous season of Torchwood has had such a unified theme … the creepy kids is a really cool one, I think. I love this show … and I can’t wait to see this new season. I’m happy to see that openly gay actor John Barrowman‘s character Captain Jack is gonna get some more man-on-man action in season 3. UK TV shows are so ahead of the curve. I think I love Torchwood as much as I love Skins. If you are not familiar with Torchwood, I strongly suggest you check out the first two seasons of the series before season 3 kicks off in July. Woot!! So glad to have amazing sci-fi back on TV.

Trent, do you also like Doctor Who? I love that show and I’ve been meaning to start watching Torchwood.

    OMG OMG OMG!
    How I missed you Captain.

  4. Cait says:

Oh man. I love Torchwood SO much. I was disappointed to hear that they only made a five ep season to be run in one week rather than a full season, but also that they pushed the release back to July. But I think it’ll be well worth it. It’s a great show if you don’t mind campy monsters/aliens from time to time. But I think the premise is great. They haven’t set an official date other than a vague “July”…right ?

  5. Taylor says:

Love, love, love the hotness of John Barrowman!

  6. Todd says:

OMG So excited, I’ve been in withdrawal. Altho, so MAD at how they ended the 2nd season. Went thru a box of kleenex LOL Thanks Trent, you made my Friday.

  7. Telly says:

Finally! I was so heartbroken after the season 2 finale. I was so mad they killed off Toshiko!!! I wondered if it would stick, hoping it wouldn’t. I guess they can’t repeat the Owen living dead thing. What a great actress though.

You will love Doctor Who if you love Torchwood. Quality wise, Doctor Who is better, but both are fabulous shows!

I love me some Le Barrowman. He is just … well very John! Love Torchwood, Captain Jack is legendary! I sincerely hope the relationship with Ianto is going to develop further; I love seeing then together and they both are very good rolemodels! And WOOT, they be smoking hawt as well!

  9. Ruth says:

The new Buffy the Vampire Slayer! ROFL. It is the spin-off of one of the greatest British TV shows ever – Doctor Who – which is older and way more credible than the vamp slayer (sorry I know there are hardcore fans of slayer but doctor who is just more legendary).

  10. Tiffany says:

Oh em eff gee! This makes me so happy. I have been going through Dr. Who/Torchwood withdraw. And Barrowman? The hotness abounds!

  11. Edna says:

yahoooo. finallly torchwood is back. :) so excited. the hiatus has been toooo long.

and the doctor who thing, david tennant is amazing…. as was christopher eccelston; season 1 of new doctor series; also where we first meet jack/john barrowman. le sigh. ;)

  12. Katie says:

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG

I can’t wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Torchwood is incredible and this looks like they’ve managed to get even better. I’m geeking out! Barrowman is a God.

  13. Linnea1928 says:

WooT! I love Torchwood, especially Jack and Ianto (mmmm, Janto)!! Can’t wait for season 3 and hopefully more after that! (Also more Doctor Who, altho I will miss the Tenth Doctor like mad. Matt Smith better be freakin awesome).

PS, if you love John Barrowman, you have to read his autobiography (Anything Goes); it’s hilarious and really great! I loved reading about all his Broadway and West End hijinks, not to mention his stories about his childhood. It’s way cute! Check it out.

  14. Lara says:

Personally, I’m more of a Doctor Who girl than a Torchwood girl, but it’s still pretty awesome (and I do enjoy the Doctor Who/Torchwood crossovers).

  15. Diane says:

Trent: Re Doctor Who & Torchwood – DW is designed to be more of a kids’ show, while TW definitely is not. Both, however, are phenomenal. Just don’t expect TW nudity/language/mature themes on DW :) You need to see end of DW new season 1 to understand Capt. Jack more, as well as other DW eps in later seasons. Many strange comments he makes refer directly to DW events.

  16. Valerie says:

For the Barrowman fans, he’ll be back on stage in La Cage aux Folles in September in London. Saw the show and it’s brilliant. Perfect role for him too.

  17. Angela says:

I agree, if you like Torchwood, you absolutely must check out Doctor Who. The quirky relationship between the Doctor and Captain Jack is amusing and you get a little bit of insight into where Jack comes from and where he may end up…

  18. Tilisha says:

JULY 20TH AT 9PM IS WHEN MY CAPTAIN COMES BACK….ALSO FOR THOSE THAT LOVE DR WHO STARTING JUNE 26 AND WE START SEEING THE LAST FEW EPISODES WITH DAVID TENNANT
