These Are Celebrities? Get Out Of Here!
Yesterday we got our first look at the new promo video for the new NBC competitive Reality TV program I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here which features, among others, newlyweds Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt competing in a Survivor-like setting for the titled of King and Queen of the Jungle. Today we get to see promo pics of all of the “celebs” who have been cast on the show in preparation for the series launch. Check out the new cast of I’m A Celebrity and see if YOU can pick out a fave to win:

From the press release: It’s the ultimate Swiss Family Robinson as ten celebrities are dropped into the heart of the jungle to face fun and comedic challenges designed to test their survival skills. America is the puppet master, controlling their favorite celebrities by putting them into challenges and tasks to win food, supplies and luxury items. In each episode, friendships will be tested, hilarity will ensue and viewers will decide which celebrities stay or go. The last remaining star will be crowned King or Queen of the Jungle, winning a substantial cash prize for their favorite charity. America has never seen a show like this before. Television has never been programmed like this before. Don’t miss a minute of this ultimate three-week event. In a unique scheduling move, “I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!” will air at 8 p.m. over four weeks in June. The new series will debut as a two-hour television event on Monday, June 1 (8-10 p.m. ET) and will follow with broadcasts on Mondays through Thursdays (8-9 p.m. ET) for the first three weeks. During the fourth week of June, the series will be telecast Monday through Wednesday (8-9 p.m. ET) with the finale on Wednesday, June 24 (8-9 p.m. ET).
While I think this is a *genius* idea for an entertaining Reality TV show (one that has already proven successful in the UK), I really wish they would’ve spent a little bit more time finding more well-known contestants. I only know who John Salley is because he is a former Detroit Pistons basketball player. I have no idea who Torri Wilson is (tho, a quick Google search enlightens that she is a WWE wrestler). I understand that the celeb contestants are subjected to challenges that are unpleasant and sometimes gross … that might be worth tuning in to see in and of itself. I think I’ll give this series a chance … I don’t know that I’ll be rooting for anyone in particular to win but I’m curious to see how these folks stand up to the rigors of competition. What do y’all think … will YOU be tuning in?

lmao! Sanjaya! I just spent three seconds yesterday wondering what happened to him. Why is Janice on this, she’s not *that* z-list is she?

We’ve had the pleasure(?!) of this crappy UK show in Australia for a couple of years. And it’s pretty bad. lol Some of these people…who we don’t even really know…bunging on a turn about doing stuff. And then they start arguing about who is the biggest star. rofl It makes for interesting but embarrassing TV. I think Jason Donovan…ex lover of Kylie Minogue back in the 80’s won a series…at least he went a long way.

Yeah… this piece of crappy crap will be way better than LOST… *eye roll* The only good thing about shows like this – they separate the intelligent viewers from the ones who endlessly search for the Cheetos that fell between the couch cushions all the while it’s stuck to the side of their face.

Uh….no thanks. Think I’ll pass on this one.

Why do I feel like I’ve seen this before in the US? Is this the first time they’ve ever done this here?
May 16th, 2009 at 1:36 pm
They have already had this in the US a few years ago. I remember that JLo’s ex-husband was on there and one of the Backstreet Boys. Not sure if it had a different name but it was definitely the same concept.
May 16th, 2009 at 1:54 pm
This entire concept reminds me of an episode of the Simpsons. Anybody else remember when Homer and the family were on that game show in Japan?
May 16th, 2009 at 1:56 pm
@mel I remember that too! I remember thinkin JLo’s ex Cris was kinda hot….
this – yeah I won’t be swoonin over sanjaya or stephen baldwin or ugggh spencer. KILL ME. Couldn’t they get some eye candy??? seriously???
And Janice must need some $ for more plastic surg.
Who am I kiddin – I’ll prob watch this pathetic show!! : )

are the other 3 so z-list that they’d rather not name them?
May 16th, 2009 at 2:45 pm
We have had it in the UK for a few years are format is also called ‘im a celebrity get me out of here’, you can imagine how bad it is when i tell you that ‘the worlds first supermodel’Janice Dickenson came second place to a fat old man famous for pantomine called Christopher Biggins.
May 16th, 2009 at 3:58 pm
Oh come on! It’s hilariously funny. Buuutttt its not really fair is it, if Janice Dickinson has already had a try in the UK?
She did only come in 2nd though, maybe she is hoping she’s more famous in the US and you guys will vote for her.
I want to see Spencer eating bugs!
May 16th, 2009 at 5:12 pm
Hey Francesca… that Cheetos is just to the left of the hole in your head…. just a bit more…it’s just right there… want me to get it for you?

They did have this show on a good amount of years back in the U.S i believe it was on ABC actually and the only contestant i can remember is Mellisa rivers being on it. It was an okay show, concept is kind of dumb that america decides who goes home, i would rather see celebrities get cut throat for charity lol!
Torrie willson and Janice are my two favs to win this. Loved Torrie on WWE and I guess she is hoping htis will boost her like Stacy on Dancing with the stars, but it wont. Janice is just hillarious they needed someone funny on the show.
I’m just upset that they got rid of American Gladiators and Last Comic Standing on NBC for this show, its a bit sad.

May 17th, 2009 at 3:19 am
Umm Trent have you NEVER heard of Im a celeb b4?????? Its ALWAYS ZLISTERS and it’s nothing like SURVIVOR just because this is the only show you Americans know
May 17th, 2009 at 6:33 am
Stephen Baldwin is half a fruit…
Back in the day, say 1999, nyc, etc.,
enough coke would get him “in the mood”.
That’s why he’s now a bible thumper.

It’s weird how everyone keeps talking like it’s the first time this show’s in the US but I guess they want everyone to forget how bad it was even a few yrs ago. And it’s true jlo’s ex chris judd won. I’d probably just catch glimpses just for speidi vs janice LOL
May 17th, 2009 at 8:10 am
that show looks ridiculous. i vaguely remember the earlier version and that’s how it should be – a vague distant memory
May 17th, 2009 at 10:28 am
This seems like a sorry excuse of a show. But I’d love to see Heidi and Spencer do humiliating things
May 20th, 2009 at 10:24 pm
No, no and no!!!!! NOT watching- I do NOT want to lose IQ points!!
