‘The Princess And The Frog’ Gets A Movie Trailer
Sealed Frogged with a Kiss

The first full movie trailer for Walt Disney‘s new animated film The Princess and the Frog isn’t due to hit theaters until Disney‘s new computer animated film UP! opens in theaters. But, the trailer has made its way to the Internets for our early viewing pleasure after it aired on the Disney Channel this weekend. Here are a few screencaps from this new trailer for The Princess and the Frog:

My knowledge of the tale of The Princess and the Frog isn’t the best but it looks to me like Disney may be changing up the storyline a bit for their version of the tale. After the jump, check out the movie trailer in full and see what I’m talking about …

Uhhh, I don’t recall that the Princess turns into a frog after she kisses the cursed Prince. Is that the way the story really goes? Whatever the case may be, I am still very excited that Disney is finally releasing a traditionally drawn animated film after many years of releasing computer animated films. It’s been far too long … I can’t wait to see this film. What do y’all think of this trailer? Does it pique your interest in seeing this movie when it opens this Xmas?

They’ve got to change it up and make it so she turns into a frog, otherwise the movie would be 5 minutes long!

She’s a creole princess!! Now that’s exciting! I love New Orleans.

This looks like it’s going to be fun!

Am I the only one who thinks this looks terrible? The frog character is smarmy and all the “pucker up baby” is just trying too hard. Trying to be “edgy”, like all Disney movies have since Alladin. The genie (Robin Williams) was such a hit with his crazy antics, that they think that’s the only formula. So much for thoughtful or interesting dialogue and characters… it’s got to be fast, glitzy, crazy, goofy, and over-the-top.

I had to giggle a bit at the comment of all their favourite “old” movies being shown at the start of the clip. Um, those are all “new” disney movies. The “old” ones — before Disney went ADHD — would be things like Snow White, Cinderella, the Fox and the Hound, etc. Interesting that in the whole “75 years” montage, they only actually go back about 20.

And while I think it’s great they’re going hand-drawn, some of those scenes look computer-generated to me.

Maybe I sound like an old codger heh. But I really don’t like the hyper-crazy style of most modern animated movies.

@Whit : I don’t remember the frog from Swan Princess, but I did notice the Alligator has an uncanny resemblance to the one in Don Bluth’s All Dogs Go To Heaven. Swan Princess was released by Columbia Pictures and Don Bluth used to work for Disney so, I’m wondering if some of the animators that helped develop the characters in these movies, are former or current animators for Disney.

I thought it looked cute. I don’t think it lives up to the classics.

@Heather- Why giggle at someone who grew up with a certain set of movies? Movies like Alladin, The Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast were released when I was growing up. And, I also saw Snow White, Cinderella, and The Fox and the Hound. And I loved them. Just because the movies have become increasingly zany doesn’t mean they aren’t as good as the others. So before you laugh at anyone, just think that not all of us were around for the entire “75 years of magic.”

THANK YOU I’M EAGER TO SEE THIS ONE GRAT JOB.
