Last week we learned from a report from TMZ that Mel Gibson‘s mistress, Oksana Grigorieva (whom he recently started up a romantic relationship with while he was still married to his wife of 29 years Robyn) is pregs with his child … which resulted in Robyn filing for divorce. Mel appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night and confirmed to Jay that his girlfriend is pregs with his child, joking that he can now be called “Octo-Mel” since his mistress will be giving birth to his 8th child — classy, classy guy:
It’s official: Mel Gibson’s girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, is pregnant. The actor confirmed the news during a taping of NBC’s The Tonight Show With Jay Leno to air [last night]. “I guess I’m ‘Octo-Mel,’” says Gibson, who already has seven kids with his wife of 28 years, Robyn. Robyn filed for divorce six weeks ago amidst speculation that Grigorieva, a singer on Gibson’s record label, was expecting a child. “My wife and I, our marriage ended three years ago and we’ve been separated ever since then,” Gibson tells Leno. “These things happen. It’s unfortunate, it’s sad, but you know she is an admirable woman — we still got kids together, we’re friends.” “Look,” Gibson continues. “When it’s all said and done, I did a pretty good hatchet job on my marriage myself. I’m to blame. If you’re inclined to judge, put it here.” Gibson also says his separation from Robyn had nothing to do with Grigorieva, whom he didn’t meet until 2008. When asked by Leno if they would wed, Gibson says: “Why would you get married twice?” According to reports, Grigorieva is in her second trimester and due this fall.
As a result of Mel‘s confirmation on national television last night, his official rep issued a statement that was released in between the show’s taping (yesterday afternoon) and the show’s airing (late last night):

For those eager to point to Grigorieva’s pregnancy as a catalyst for Gibson’s divorce, they’ll be wrong, says the close source: “This has nothing to do with the divorce. Mel didn’t even know Oksana was pregnant when they filed.”
Ha! Right! There really ain’t much damage control that can be done at this point so I guess saying that Mel didn’t even know his mistress was pregnant when his wife filed for divorce is all they could come up with. You know, even if you buy that “we’ve been separated for 3 years” line he’s trying to feed us, it’s pretty disrespectful to sleep around ON YOUR WIFE and the mother of your 7 children while you’re still married to her. WWJD? The hypocrisy of Gibson‘s religiousness just grosses me out to no end. His pious bullshizz turned me off to him years ago, this just seals the deal and shows the man’s true colors, IMHO. I wish Ms. Grigorieva all the luck in the world … I hope that Mel Gibson doesn’t eff her and her baby over in the same way he effed over his wife.

@ Trent that’s just a legal technicality if 2 people aren’t emotional or physically invest in a relationship for a years then your both free to do whatever you want.
@Jadedkitten — a legally binding contract is not a technicality. additionally, to a religious person, a vow before God even supersedes human law. Mel fails on both counts.
I can truly see both sides. My brother just finalized his divorce that dragged on for almost 2 years. And both of them moved on to new relationships in the meantime. I do understand that things happen preventing it from being a speedy procedure. (Hell, in Michigan, couples can be required to take 6 months of marriage counselling before a judge will grant a divorce.) Be that as it may, it’s sad to see a person in this situation joking about it and taking for granted the very right that many loving and committed couples are denied. (for now…)
While it’s probably not the case here, I can see a former couple staying married in the legal sense only if there was some sort of benefit to it, such as health insurance.
Also, it isn’t cheating if both parties agree to see other people, even if the couple is still very much in love and happy with each other. Again, that may not be the case in this situation.
As far as him not knowing about the pregnancy until after his wife filed, it is possible, depending on how far along his girlfriend is. “Second trimester” can be anywhere between four months, where a woman might not be showing, to six, when she probably would. Also, it’s not unheard of for a woman to have her period during a pregnancy, and not have complications. I have an aunt who had periods up until the fifth month, if she hadn’t already known, the thought probably wouldn’t have crossed her mind. I had a pregnancy scare in November, and because of my aunt’s experience I was still taking tests until March. And if my partner hadn’t been at my side while I was puking my guts up, he wouldn’t have known, because I wouldn’t have told him unless I had decided to keep it.
And that’s assuming she didn’t know, she might have known for awhile and didn’t tell him. Lots of people don’t tell until the second trimester, because there is a high chance of something going wrong during the first. I don’t believe that he didn’t know, but it’s not outside the realm of possibility.
So, he IS a hypocrite, and probably a liar, but assuming he’s telling the truth about both, it doesn’t make him a bad guy. The bigotry and hypocrisy do.

Trent you are just one eyed with have a narrow opinion of not just this Mel Gibson stuff but for these circumstances in general.
Who cares if Mel Gibson is very religious etc. etc.. – maybe that was one of the reasons he & his wife chose not to actually file a divorce. They are both really religious as the other. And to deny the fact they have been separated for 3 years is absurd, if they said they have been separated for 3 years, they must have been, why lie about that?!
I ain’t praising Mel Gibson, it’s is life, just like it’s your life to do what you want. He is happy obvioulsy with his girlfriend and becoming a father once again. So honor him for that happiness.
We don’t know whats gone wrong with his relationship with his ex-wife, but don’t succumb to tabloids with our opinions. But wait, thats what you do Trent.
For all we know Mel’s ex-wife has a boyfriend of her own. But we won’t know that because she isn’t FAMOUS!
I salute you Mel Gibson, because obviously you & your girlfirend are in a happy relationship and shouldn’t have to deal with a Gold Digging ex-wife who is trying to steal half of your fortune (who yes, she has been there for before day one) but seriously don’t has to act like a White Trash Hoe to get it all.

Even the most religious people are sinners. There is no minister or priest out there that can say they have not sinned. No one here knows if he as asked God for forgivness or how he has personally handled it. One major rule of christianity is to not judge others. Looks like most of you on here are no more Christians than Mel who you critisize so thoroughly.
I hope Mel is going to be OK in this relationship. One must remember that some Oriental mail brides and Russian women whether they are mail bride or not can be very predatory. They have been known to trap American men with pregnancy and anything else and Mel did say he did not know she was with child until after he filed for divorce. He did back her music video which certainly is great for her. Mel is a gold mine for this Russian lady. To be a celebrity and caught in this personal triangle is hard on everyone. I observe, though, that 39 really is too old to get ‘accidently’ pregnant. Other than that I wish everyone well and I know nothing else.
