It’s Official! Kristin Cavallari Is Joining The Cast Of ‘The Hills’
Yesterday we saw photos of Kristin Cavallari doing a bit of shopping in Beverly Hills, CA this week and I surmised that perhaps she was shopping for new outfits to wear on upcoming episodes of MTV’s hit show The Hills. While there was talk that she was joining the cast, there had yet been no official confirmation from anyone in the know that it was a done deal. Today, Entertainment Weekly magazine reports on a new interview with KC herself that confirms officially that SHE IS TAKING OVER The Hills and will be starring on the next season of the show:
Rumors have been circulating for weeks that former Laguna Beach star Kristin Cavallari was in talks to replace Lauren Conrad on The Hills. Now, EW can exclusively confirm that Cavallari will indeed be starring in MTV’s reality series. The 22-year old’s first appearance will be the May 31st season finale (she catches the bouquet at Heidi and Spencer’s wedding, natch) and she’ll appear in 10 episodes this fall. Cavallari, now a budding actress, is fully prepared to stir things up. “It’s a TV show,” she explains. “I’m not going into it like, ‘I’m going to make great friendships with these people.’ It’s work! And drama sells. I think that’s why they’re bringing me in, because I know what works.” Cavallari had plenty more to reveal in her exclusive interview with EW.
On why she’s coming back to reality TV:
“The goal for me is to get my fans excited about me again. When I first started out, I had a celebrity name but I didn’t have the acting skills I have now. If I have some buzz with my name again, I feel like it will only help.”
On rumors that producers are plotting a romance between her and Justin Bobby (which The Hills producers deny):
“I have no idea! [laughs] I don’t think MTV would be like, ‘Oh you’re dating him now. This is your boyfriend.’ But they might try and set up situations. I’m totally cool with that. Again, it’s a TV show and they need to make it entertaining.”
On how her version of The Hills will differ from Lauren’s:
“I’m a completely different person than Lauren. I have a lot more energy. I’m more outgoing. I’m a little more spontaneous. And she has a boyfriend so she’s not dating on the show. I’m very open to dating and finding a guy.”
On introducing Heidi and Spencer:
“It’s so funny. I guess it was 4 years ago. I was dating Brody [Jenner] and Spencer was Brody’s best friend. I had known Heidi when she was friends with Lauren when we were still filming Laguna Beach. Heidi was like, ‘Hook me up with someone. I wanna meet a guy.’ And Brody and I were kinda like, ‘Well, maybe Spencer?’ We’ll see what happens.’ So we all went on a double date and they just hit it off right away and now they’re married.”
Woot!! This is the best news to happen to the show since, well, ever! As you may recall, I ran into Miss Cavallari at the Star Trek premiere a couple of weeks ago and while she couldn’t actually confirm her involvement on the show just yet, I was certain that she was taking over. I am soooo geeked. The show has lacked any and all excitement for months now, this new breath of life will deffo keep the party going. I, for one, cannot wait for the show to return with new eps. This week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly features this interview with Kristin in full and offers new insight from MTV producers on how they plan to “put a new spin” on The Hills. With Kristin Cavallari in the star position (opposite her ex-boyfriend Brody Jenner, the new Mrs. Pratt, etc.) there should be a lot of fireworks to behold. I CAN’T WAIT! Welcome back, Kristin … we’ve so missed you!! It won’t be long before everyone will be wondering LC who?

She was the star even when LC was supposedly the star. When KC took over, the show hit its stride. I’m not sure that will necessarily happen again but I’m willing to give it a shot. You KNOW they’re gonna bring Stephen Coletti back for an on-screen reunion … and maybe Alex M her BFF!! She can be the new Lo.

oh christ…. KC was always supposed to be the star of Laguna Beach and I could never stand her (or her “character” whichever the case may be.. this is MTV faux-reality after all). I always loved LC and Lo and I was so excited when LC got the Hills. The Hills will always be LC’s show and with her gone it’s nothing but Laguna Beach Community College. UGH. I don’t care how hot Brody Jenner is ;) the remaining girls all put together don’t have half of LC’s brain. Heidi and Audrina just need to start their inevitable porn careers already and let the show end. I will definitely NEVER watch it after May 31st again

I love me some LC but I think this is a good idea to change the cast up like this. I think LC was an idiot for leaving the show because she is making a killing basically doing nothing. I am excited for KC to come on to the set thou! Now, get rid of Speidi and Audrina and replace them with some new people and we will all golden!

O.M.G. ok so Laguna, the Hills, the City have been my saving grace gilty pleasure of all times…not that i’m a die-hard-sit-down-to-watch-every-episode-fan, but i am the first to admit being roped into a weekend marathon or two (or six).But because i’m not a die-hard, NEVER did i even THINK of a Kristen return. Trent, you have just made my DAY with this confirmation. And the catching of the bouquet bit, just about made me blush with excitement…MTVs so deep with thier trashy reality metaphores….

first off i agree, the Hills is nothing with out lauren. so i think mTVs gay for making kristin the new “star” secondly…doesnt any body remember her trash talking realty tv and how she would NEVER do one again..but now that her acting career sucks shes back to where she started. i like her and all…but dont bite the hand that fed you sweety…

Just like I had no interest in watching the city, I don’t think I can watch this anymore. The only reason I continue watching The Hills is because I have already watched all the other seasons that I decided to just finish it out because this is the last season. While I am sure they will continue on with The Hills for at least 3 more seasons, I think they have beat this dead cow long enough.

What am I going to do now?!? I was boycotting the Hills because I do not want to give Speidi anymore ‘fame’ than they already have. Ugh. I loathe them both. But I <3 Kristin! What to do, what to do… Maybe Speidi will go all DIVA and request to have their own show. And then maybe MTV will give it to them. And then I can watch The Hills guilt-free. Here’s to hoping!

I adore LC and wish her the best as she moves on from The Hills. She did her thing and now it’s time to see a different show with a different focus. Who better to bring the drama than Kristin!? Audrina, Spencer and Heidi will soon be regulated to the back bench. It’s about to become the Kristin Show. I can’t wait!!

Its weird because i really liked both Kristen and LC when they were on Laguna Beach but i always kind of thought when LC started doing the Hills, it was “her” show.
And now there basically giving it to someone else so they can see how long they can stretch out something that was once a good thing. If not mostly just fun.
I feel like they should have just given Kristen her own show, instead of giving her LCs…
maybe this doesn’t make sense, but i am still excited to see Kristen back on something resembling Laguna Beach…especially if it means more Stephan Coletti :P

Someone mentioned bringing Kristin’s old BFF Alex M back what about Jessica who was off and on with Jason!! SHe needs to be back too, she was crazy drama! And Stephen Coletti is on One Tree Hill now so I doubt he needs to do reality tv.

Am I the only person missing something here? LC is not in Kristin’s shadow. I mean, Lauren will always be more successful. I think Lauren has more followers now with girls with all different types of ages; whenever she’s on a magazine, it sells with the likes of Angelina Jolie and what not. I’ll agree with you Kristin has more sex appeal and “drama” appeal but didn’t she also get on a reality tv show after Laguna and it got canceled like, fast?

I agree with Emma 100%. This was made out to be LAUREN’S show and HER view of la, now they are just turning it into another LB. I hate how they are bringing in someone completely new that has nothing to do with the cast. I know i wont be tuning into the new season at all.
And she definitely will be getting some angry messages from mtv tomorrow morning about the statements she made. She confirmed everything we knew…its fake! haha Expect her to release a statement saying my words were twisted.
I know Speidi is angry and they have a right to.

Brilliant! KC is fabulous and LC is terribly boring. I have always been team KC and though LC is harmless enough, The Hills needs some zest…and that would be KC! Bring it on…Oh, and I agree with Stephanie…Natalie – not the best idea to use the word gay as a put down. Its pretty offensive! (unlike KC because she totally rocks).

I hope you people realize that this show and the others like it are kind of fake, and the things they experience in real life are re-enacted over again for the tv show, and not necessarily the same or correct. Some of them are asked to do certain things so the ratings go higher, it’s all about money. These reality shows are b.s………hope you all knew that….

This is such B.S.! Here Kristin take Lauren’s left overs. I liked Kristin in Laguna, but loved Lauren in the Hills. It looks like the Hills just got desperate and in a spite of revenge they choose Kristin. I will not be supporting this show anymore. It would have been better to make Audrina the star or even Lo. Good luck with the ratings, it’s going to be so much drama teen girls will eat it up, and that’s it teen girls!
