It would seem that Donald Trump is a fan of semi-nude, topless photos taken by his beauty queens because he has just announced in a live press conference that Carrie Prejean WILL keep her Miss California USA crown since, in his judgment, we live in “the 21st century” and, apparently, topless pics of beauty queens are “lovely” and “fine”:

Donald Trump will let Miss California USA Carrie Prejean keep her title despite controversy over semi-nude photos and charges by state pageant officials that she had abandoned her duties to devote time to opposition to same-sex marriage. “We’re in the 21st century,” Trump said, explaining Prejean is a model.
And there you have it. I suspect, barring the release of any new photos, this may be the last we’ll be hearing about Prejean possibly losing her crown. Now she can go back to the biz of taking care of her Miss California USA duties which, supposedly, center on advocating the needs of people with Special Needs. I guess we’ll have to wait and see if that will actually be the case.

@Bob…Hahaha! I also think Perez is an ignorant idiot who doesn’t portray his opinions in an appropriate manner in most instances, but I also think he is conceited enough that he is only looking at his own site… Try telling HIM that. We love TRENT! :)
Good for you, Miss California, and good for Donald Trump for sticking up for her. Miss Cali had dignity and didn’t back down. Yet another example of the “embrace diversity” crowd not being able to handle people who disagree with them. It’s funny too because people chose not to bring up Obama’s position on this issue (which is exactly the same) when he was running for President.
Doesn’t anyone realize that President Obama gave the same answer when he was asked that exact question. I don’t understand how we can gloss over his answer, but persecute this girl, whatever her name is….
This is for everyone who says it’s hypocritical when the director of Miss California is a playboy playmate…. The nude photos AREN’T the controversy. She LIED when she signed the contract; she’s BLATENLY breaking the contract. Trump, well he loves the publicity too bad its costing him his respect. Carrie made her name off of Miss California and she did state her (homophobic) opinion, but when you call Californian citizen’s homes and ask them to sign a petition against gay marriage… welcome to the onslaught. Personally I can’t wait till this girl’s fifteen minutes are up. Even though where I’m from gays and lesbians have the same rights, it truly makes me sad that in 2009 this behavior is still acceptable. (Ps isn’t prejean just like the bush administration, where there’s so much hard evidence but right wing conservatives won’t see reason)
@apricot: in quoting from your bumper book of right-wing talking points, you forgot to mention Bill Clinton! I’m sure he’s at fault as well.
On a different topic:
* Topless posing = 21st century
* Equal marriage for gays (should that have a capital “G”, Bob?) = not?
Im glad we have some great role models….one that was a druggy and now a this one…..man I wish I had role models like that when I was growing up…..then maybe I could have grown up to be a druggy and sell nude pics of myself to buy my drugs…….LOL take the crown away already and move to more intresting news like war or something.
“The nude photos AREN’T the controversy. She LIED when she signed the contract; she’s BLATENLY breaking the contract.”
Hmmm…this sounds vaguely familiar….although…I remember a different set of players…
Oh yeah.
that’s right.
Bill Clinton and the perjury trials. The fact is, libs wouldn’t be up in arms about this girl violating her contract if it weren’t for the fact that she had the stones to say that marriage should be between a man and a woman. Christians wouldn’t be defending her either…and I think they shouldn’t just because she expressed that view. Her posing topless is a violation of the contract and I think she should lose her crown. But I think it’s amusing that ya’ll are only selectively concerned about things like lying and contracts and the law…when it suits your political agenda.
Umm people I don’t even think that this matter is concerning what she said about gay rights anymore
JJ I don’t know what is dignified about violating a contract. There are NEW pictures out today where she is showing all of her tatas for the cameras, nips and everything. Apparently being “biblically correct” only matters when you are trying to limit the Fundamental Civil Rights of others, and not when you are stripping for money. I disagree with her views on gay marriage, but at the end of the day, she should be dethroned for violating her contract.
I think Trump might have made a big mistake here. The whole competition is about being a good role model, and he is essentially saying his organization now endorses nude modeling.
I think this ignorant, incoherent bigot’s 15 seconds of fame are up. And people need to stop wah wah-ing that she lost due to her backwards, tyrannical thinking. She lost because she sucked ass and that’s pretty obvious. Those against equality are a dying breed as future generations of society will progress. It’s just unfortunate that we still have to listen to asinine, hateful rhetoric from those who cannot learn from our history’s mistakes.
People, please don’t act like what you care about is that she supposedly “violated her contract”. The fact is, none of this would be an issue if not for the fact that she spoke out against gay marriage. This isn’t about being “biblically correct”, it’s about her right to freedom of speech.
And I find it hilarious that people are acting like they actually care whether or not she’s a good role model! The majority of people didn’t care that Bill Clinton got a blowjob in the Oval Office but we’re just HORRIFIED that Miss California posed naked.
If you want to call her a hypocrite for posing naked when she professes to be a Christian then please own up to your own hypocrisy.
Highlights of the press conference:
-Miss USA ‘relevant”, Miss America sucks
-posing topless=21st century
-exceptional beauty excuses extreme ignorance
-shameless plug for NBC
I see nothing wrong with going topless and what that has to do with morality. God created our bodies and we shouldn’t be ashamed- in Europe they could care less and neither should we. I personally am all for gay marriage since love is a great thing. She has a right to her small opinion and we are lucky to hear both sides of the coin. Trashing her only makes haters hate more. We should be trying to eradicate the hate and intolerance in the world, not create more excuses to do it!
Oh, and since when does being Christian have anything to do with posing partially nude or not?
I have to give you kudos. You didn’t go on this attack against her despite the fact that her beliefs are not yours. While you may not agree with hers, you didn’t resort to petty name calling and demand that her crown was taken away. You are so much better than Perez and I think people should realize that.
It’s not actually about her right to freedom of speech but her ability to comprehend a timely question and articulate a direct, relevant answer and in that she FAILED. In a way though, Perez gave her a trick question because there is no fair, sensible argument against secular government and constitutional equality. CJ proved this once again by side-stepping the question in favor of babbling clumsily about her own personal “morality”. Cool, CJ, you believe in “opposite marriage”, then by all means get yourself one. But um–what does that have to do civil rights?
The girl stated her opinion. It does not make her a tyrannical, ignorant bigot. She was asked a question, she gave an answer. DEAL WITH IT. She posed semi-nude. BIG DEAL! We see intense pseudo sex scenes on cable TV everyday. Leave her alone! Just because you disagree with her doesn’t make you more intelligent, open-minded, or “cool.” It makes you narrow minded, hateful, and hypocritical. So just shut the hell up. If you have a problem, write her a freaking letter, instead of talking irrelevant shit on a website.
Im not surprised. Trump let off another beauty queen who had a problem with drugs. So why wouldn’t he let her off? I didn’t see Prejeans photos so I can’t comment on if they were bad or not.
@ Winona: Those photos were NOT soft core porn! Come on!!!
I mean if she had gotten approval in the first place, it wouldn’t have been a huge issue! The other contestant had similar pics and no one cares about them because she had approval. I feel sorry for this chick and all the crap in the tabloids. I would NEVER want to be famous, it’s like imprisoning yourself to the paps!
JJ, you have basically just admitted that for you, this is a “liberal vs. conservative” hang up, not a discussion about facts. She violated her contract, and you still haven’t found a way to argue around that. You still aren’t over Bill Clinton (and you assume to know what everyones thoughts are on his history)??? Move on, buddy! No one is trying to infringe on her “freedom of speech”…do you know what that actually is? She still has the right and ability to speak her mind, no one is suggesting that get taken away. The only thing in question is whether she speaks her opinion while representing the state of California in a private contest. And yes, she still is a hypocrite.
