‘Dollhouse’ Is ‘Looking Good’ For A Second Season
It looks promising!!!

Woot! Things look very encouraging this afternoon that Fox is on the verge of giving Dollhouse a chance at a second season. Nothing has been officially announced just yet but Variety is reporting that prospects look good that Dollhouse will return this Fall for, at the very least, a 13-ep season. The bad news is that the plan is keep Dollhouse in its Friday night time slot. BUT, Friday nights or not, it would be AMAZING news if Dollhouse does get renewed!

As Fox preps for its upfront presentation on Monday, the net is said to be on the verge of renewing Joss Whedon’s frosh drama “Dollhouse,” and it has added another laffer to its frosh slate for the 2009-10 season. Word spread Friday ayem that “Dollhouse” is looking good for a 13-episode sophomore renewal and is likely to stay in its Friday night berth. The 20th Century Fox TV fantasy drama starring Eliza Dushku has delivered modest but consistent ratings on a low-trafficked night, thanks to Whedon’s built-in fan base.

Additionally, the site End of Show is reporting that Fox execs are screening the as-yet unseen 13th episode of this season of Dollhouse, titled Epitaph One, in their offices today in preparation for their upfronts presentation/announcement Monday that the show will return for a second season:

FOX Broadcasting Corp are currently screening the unaired 13th episode of Dollhouse at their offices. End Of Show can reveal the screening is part of their upfronts preparation. The network is reported by Variety to be prepping the Joss Whedon created series for a Fall return, for an inital 13 episode order. Reasons suggested by chatter for the potential return include the strong streaming numbers for the series, along with a loyal core and an impressive amount of upfront DVD preorders reported by retailers. A remaining sticking point, report sources at the studio, is the cost per episode. Fox Home Entertainment will be taking the series to this years Comic-Con convention to stage an unusually large DVD push, which should include a limited edition Blu-Ray release, including a note written by creator Joss Whedon inside each set.

This is all VERY encouraging. I don’t want to fully believe it until we hear the announcement from Fox themselves but I’m cautiously optimistic! I really hope Fox rethinks the Friday night timeslot … putting the show on Tuesday night (perhaps in the old Buffy the Vampire Slayer timeslot) would help the show grow its audience immensely. But honestly, I’m just thrilled at the prospect that the show may be returning at all. I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed that this good news turns out to be true.

Yay this show is awesome if Fox had stayed the hell out of it in the first place and just let Joss do what he wanted, I think it would have done better because the last few eppys he did with out their input were amazing.

YAY!!! I really did not think I was going to be into Dollhouse, I only started watching it because we gave up cable, so HULU is my TV these days.

But the show is BADASS!!! I never was a Buffy or Joss fan prior to this, but I love Eliza and I love all of the interesting and new material a show like this promises to bring!

    To reiterate: YAY!!!!!!

    Eliza is so smokin hot!

  4. while they are at it they could save sarah connor chronicles

  5. I really hope this happens, especially afetr the last episode of the first season. It left so many open doors for the story to go into, and I can’t wait to see where the show will head in the future….

When I saw the pic I got all excited thinking they’d brought Alexis Denisof to Dollhouse! My mistake (but wouldn’t it be awesome?). I haven’t seen the last 2 eps yet, but I’m enjoying it more now – I think the uneven start really damaged it’s chances of building a decent audience. I’d certainly be interested in a second season.

It’s official! It was confirmed by the cast and writers and Joss! It’s coming back!!!! I’m so excited. Too bad it is only 13 episodes but beggars can’t be choosers.
