Blasphemous Ways
Last night, in a rare occurance, David and I went out with a couple of friends for dinner and a movie. Darion had just returned from a business trip to San Diego, CA and we are on our way to Las Vegas, NV and NYC for the week so yesterday was pretty much our day to get together and hang. We met up with Josh for a night of sushi and a movie and had a great time. The movie du jour was Angels & Demons:

Since I was marginally entertained by The Da Vinci Code, I was up for another fun night of adventure and symbology. For the most part, I enjoyed the movie … but only because I had to suspend all belief in what was being shown on the screen and went with the story. The treat of blowing up Vatican City after assassinating the Pope is a bold plot … and they did make it as exciting as they could but because I figured out who the bad guy was early on, I wasn’t all that pulled in by the intrigue. It’s an entertaining movie, it was a fun night out but it’s not something that I’d need to see again (like, say, Star Trek).

After a run-in with Academy Award winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black (random, I know) at the drug store after the movie (I had to pick up last minute supplies for our trip this week), we all called it a night and that was that.
David and I leave for Vegas in a few hours where we will be staying at the very swank Palms Hotel & Casino. I’m very excited to see NIN in concert tomorrow night so … it’s gonna be a good week.

I was at the NIN/JA show last night in Chula Vista! It was so awesome!! You’re going to have a blast! I saw no evidence of Perry’s injury from earlier in the week..He was just freaking amazing!

OY! I was going to see this tonight with my parents but, Trent, maybe in the future could you do a little spoiler thing? I don’t read the books, of course but still, man. Thanks

Are people serious? Why would you read a movie review and not expect any kind of spoiler? Don’t read movie reviews if you don’t want to be spoiled.

I think the Dan Brown books are remarkable for their compelling pace and ability to offer an unmistakable sense of location – not to mention just pure adventure with alot of really interesting and fun “don’t believe everything you read in a best-seller just because it’s a best-seller” historical contradictions peppered throughout.
The Dan Brown books turned into movies, though? MEH!

@Kent — I can imagine how the books might be more entertaining. Honestly, I liked watching Da Vinci Code more than I did reading it.

@Kent–seriously, the books=amazing, the movies=MEH.

Hey Trent, this time while your in Vegas try and see Love at the Mirage. I know earlier this week you said you had not seen it and I swear you will be so glad you went. It is truly amazing and not to be missed. ;)

@ Me – You can write a review without spoiling information. If that were the case then everyday people would hate critics for spoiling every single part of information then, right?

I was at the Atlanta show where he got hurt. the injury did not interfere with the perfomance at all… He ran jumped around like nothing had happened…
And you are going to love the NIN show.. I have seen them plenty of times since the early 90s, and this was absolutely one of the best shows…
I am huge fan of both bands, and I would have to say NIN took the show .. (not by very much)..

its awesome you got to met Black! he gave such a great speech when he won for milk.

@ Chase — correct, but to bitch that Trent “spoiled” the movie for you by what he posted here is absurd. I don’t think I’ve ever read a review here that has ever “spoiled every single part of information” from any movie.

My dad’s disappointed the movie’s not including all the intrigue that was in the book. Like it’s now just some adventure film.
Oh and my dad reading behind me says it’s “suspend disbelief” lol

I was really disappointed in A & D. I read the book and it was awesome, but the movie left out important stuff! For example: there was a whole other villian at the research facility, the Carlamango was the biological son of the pope (not just the adopted son), and Robert (Tom Hanks) goes up in a helicopter and has to jump out from thousands of feet in the air and somehow survives. It could have been so much better if they had included all of that…..
