At Home In The Desert

The TV Guide

David and I made our way to Las Vegas yesterday afternoon just hours before a 5.0 magnitude earthquake rocked LA. I dunno what kind of luck I have that allows me to be away from LA when earthquakes hit (it’s happened at least 3 times since I’ve been living in SoCal) but I hope it continues for all time from here on out. I talked to a few friends back in LA after it hit and they were noticeably shaken. I know I would freak the eff out if I had to endure an earthquake … I’m very glad I missed it.

Happily, we made it to LV without any probs at all. Upon arrival, we checked in to the beautifully swank Palms Place Hotel and Spa and found our suite up on the 53rd floor (just one below the penthouse). This place is phat, y’all … it has a full kitchen (who cooks in Vegas?) and all the amenities that one would expect in a luxury suite:

There’s a TV and phone … in the bathroom (tho, who I’d be calling from the porcelain throne, I have no idea). We love it here … it’s a shame we won’t be staying for long (we leave for NYC tomorrow). After watching the Survivor: Tocantis finale (on the 2 side-by-side flat-screen plasma TVs) we made our way back down to Earth for a bite to eat. We discussed meeting up with some friends but in the end decided to spend some quiet time alone in our room :)

Tonight is the big night … David and I will be able to see our first NIN/JA 2009 show here at the Palms. Street Sweeper Social Club, Jane’s Addiction and Nine Inch Nails are performing at The Pearl concert theater and we are both *very* excited for the show:

I’ve tried to stay away from tour spoilers but I understand the setlists for the NIN shows have been amazing. Soooo excited!! Before the show, David and I are getting a personal tour of one of the phat condos here at the Palms (you know, in case we decide to get a place here in Vegas ;) and then it’s showtime!!

You can call me from atop the shitter!

  2. Ama Says:

    That’s a nice suite!
XD I thought you put that you went and saw a ninja show XD I was confused and jealous for a moment.

  3. Mr. Gyllenhaal Says:

That is sweet! The Palms pool rocks. Hope you can a dip while you are there. I could NEVER live in Vegas!

  4. Amy Says:

I dono is I can read this site any longer. I believe that Trent is nothing but a dam hypocrite! You always brag about what you buy {which is usually expensive and no one with the average income could afford} and you just throw it in our faces in such a bragging matter. I cant stand it. Really. Im not jealous but I also find it unfair for u to do so especially in this economy. All u do is brag about the stuff u have; very materialistic I believe. You get extremely offended about one thing but the other thing you ignore and dont scrutinize it at all. Youre a blogger that gossips. Your statistics in this site have gone WAYYY down. Not a fan anymore.

  5. Rachel Says:

Amy, if people have the money to consume–let them. It helps keep the economy going forward.

  6. debho Says:

Oh come on Amy, you are jealous. Just because Trent is good with his money is no reason for you to get snarky…perhaps you need to take a course in budgeting? Most of us here love to read about what Trent (and David) are up to. Sometimes it’s nice to live vicariously through others!
I suggest you don’t read his blog anymore, but dwell on the sad state of the world economy, which obviously you have no idea how to stimulate.

  7. Bleeding Ears Says:

I hear what you’re saying Amy… but it IS his job and the guy gets paid well for doing it. As for as his “bragging” goes…… meh…. why be so sensitive about it? Take pleasure in what you have and care not about the stuff of others. It’s JUST stuff.

  8. It's Trent, Bitch! Says:

For the record, I’m sorry that some people feel that I “brag” about anything. I’m only doing what I’ve been doing for the past forever on this blog, I share my day to day. Some days are great! Some days are not. Such is life. I know how lucky I am and I’m just happy to share. I “dono” why some people get so upset all the time but I try to stay as positive as I can :)

  9. Jstar Says:

Trent, little earthquakes are good…they relieve the stress. 5.0 is nothing!

  10. It's Trent, Bitch! Says:

@Jstar — hmm, you make a good point. even still, i’m pretty sure i will freak the eff out if i ever feel the earth movie under my feet (or feel the sky tumblin’ down, tumblin’ down). oy!!

  11. Jstar Says:

    LOL LOL!!

  12. ALEXIS Says:

I’m still waiting to hear how Trent is a hypocrite… anyone else? He can afford nice things. The hypocritical part would be….?

  13. Leanna Says:

I can’t wait to hear how you like the NIN/JA show. All 3 acts were stellar. Great setlists.

I’ve been reading this blog for the past forever too, and I love reading the TV Guide.

  14. Cinner Says:

I don’t think Trent brags at all, he for sure does what he can to stimulate the economy as well as the imaginations of those of us who do not have the good fortune to experience the world as he does. I love his site. And the Vegas digs are amazing, thank you for sharing it with us!!

  15. tatiana Says:

Trent, you always miss the earthquakes because YOUR NEVER AT HOME. lol Your always jet setting across the country, which is actually a cool thing. lol

  16. JessicaGiovanna Says:

Ok Trent, now you’ve done it… “Te hechaste la sal” saying that you’re never in town for the earthquakes will only make the cosmos align for you to be in town next time there is one. It’s a jinx young man :). And your hotel room… Damn! Live it up while u can brutha! I know I would ;). And I don’t think u brag; you’re just telling it like it is.. As is should be. This is entertainment people; lighten up!

  17. dunstan Says:

earthquakes are fun as long as they aren’t huge devastating ones. i love em.
