Pete Wentz’s NYC Club Gets Shut Down By The Police

Serving booze to minors, you say?
Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Sad news for all the East Village hipster kids who like to frequent the bar Angels & Kings which is owned by Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz. According to a very colorful restraining order affixed to the front door of the establishment, the place has been shut down by the police for allegedly serving alcohol to minors. Here is a pic of the shuttered drinkery and the sad deets of what went down:

Whoops! An eagle-eyed tipster spotted this today on the front door of Pete Wentz’s East Village bar, Angels and Kings, which got smacked down with an NYPD closure. Looks like they were serving to minors. An inside source notes that Angels and Kings was issued a third citation for serving to minors, so they’ve been shut down for three days. They also noted that their first two violations were previously thrown out in court, though, so the cops are – as they’re wont to do with New York City bars – actually kind of just fucking with them. Sugar, they’re going down swinging. Last time this fair website heard from Wentz, he got all different kinds of pissed off and mad and upset when we posted a Gawker Stalker sighting of him … Wentz, despite Twittering his whereabouts, was primarily concerned with the safety of his kid, who was with him and wife Ashley Simpson (along with their two-ton bodyguard, who probably doesn’t stick out at all). And we can respect a guy who looks out for his kids, and who encourages his fans – mostly kids, too, we might add – to be concerned, too. But he’s clearly not too concerned with anyone else’s kids, or their drinking habits, which their parents might not approve of. Being a rock and roll parent: rough stuff. Bummer … Oh, and related: if you’ve never been to Angels and Kings, Joshua Stein put it best when he noted that, upon opening, “our douche canary in our douche mineshaft keeled over and died.” Which is everything you need to know about the place.

Meh. A three day closure is nothing … and if it really is true that the popo are just messin’ with Wentz and his bar then all of this attention is sure to be good for biz. I’m fairly certain that it is not policy to serve drinks to underage minors at the bar (er, that is, unless a famous underage minor shows up on the premises) so hopefully things will be back to normal at Angels & Kings soon. I wonder what the folks who hang out at A&K all the time did with themselves last night while the bar was shut down … perhaps another re-read of Twilight?

Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart Arrive In LA For The 2009 MTV Movie Awards

Bring 'New Moon' tidings
Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Twilight stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, fresh from a long flight from Italy, arrived in SoCal last night ahead of their appearance at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards which takes place in LA and will air on MTV tonight. As many of you are well aware, Rob and Kristen are presenting the first footage to be seen from their new movie The Twilight Saga: New Moon at tonight’s Movie Awards (a mini-tease of which we got to see yesterday), an event you most assuredly do NOT want to miss. Here are a few pics of their arrival at LAX Airport last night:

Rob was lookin’ sharp in his Ray Ban sunglasses and Kristen was actually lookin’ happy. I do believe she even flashed a wee smile for the crowd. I don’t think I’d be at all lookin’ sharp or happy after such a long flight. I understand the couple have some rehearsin’ to do behind the scenes this afternoon before the show begins. We’ll prolly be seeing quite a lot of the couple at the awards show … they got prime seats in the audience and then, of course, their onstage appearance. Are y’all ready?

Kimora Lee Simmons Gives Birth To A Baby Boy!

Djimon Hounsou is the babydaddy
Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Good news to impart today … Kimora Lee Simmons and Djimon Hounsou are the proud parents of a newborn baby boy who was born yesterday. Altho no name has yet been announced, this little boy is the first child for the happy couple (and the third for Kimora, who already has two daughters with her ex-hubby/still BFF Russell Simmons). Here is a pic of Kimora in the hospital right before she popped — it was posted on her official Twitter profile — as was the news of her baby’s birth:

Kimora Lee Simmons and actor Djimon Hounsou have welcomed their first child together. Simmons took to her Twitter page to confirm the news. She wrote, “It’s a boy! Thanks to everyone out there for all your well wishes! More to come. Thank God. And God Bless! Kimora + Djimon Love & Light, KLS” No baby name was announced. Simmons, 34, has two daughters, Ming Lee, 9, and Aoki Lee, 7, with hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, whom she divorced in 2008 after nearly 10 years of marriage.

Much congrats to the happy couple on the joyous birth of their son. I understand that Kimora and Dijmon met in early 2007 (before she divorced Russell) and the couple have been inseparable ever since. I find it odd (but sweet) that she and Russell have stayed such good friends since their break-up. It doesn’t even feel like they are just being friendly for their children, they really do seem to be very good friends … which makes them all one big happy family … with one new addition. Again, congrats on the baby boy, KLS!!
