Cristiano Ronaldo Soaks Up The Sun In Sardinia

Whitey Tighties
Sunday, May 31st, 2009

It’s been quite some time since we’ve seen photos of soccer stud Cristiano Ronaldo wearin’ his skimpy little bathing shorts but this weekend the lad spent some time enjoying a holiday in Sardinia and, lookie here, he brought along a new pair of his famous shorty shorts .. behold:

Cristiano Ronaldo may have been outclassed on the football pitch this week, but if there is one thing he still leads the world at it must be sunbathing. The world’s ‘number one’ footballer was left smarting at his team Manchester United’s 2-0 Champions League final defeat by Barcelona on Wednesday. But today he was appeared to have shrugged off the disappointment as he soaked up the sunshine in Sardinia. Wearing his favourite sunbathing outfit – a silver crucifix and white swimming shorts – he lay down on a sunbed before diving into the ocean to cool off. Perhaps the 24-year-old is planning on repeating last year’s impressive display of tanning – when he turned a deep mahogany colour. The £100,000-a-week star spent his recuperation from ankle surgery soaking up the rays on a daily basis with a gaggle of supermodels. This time the Portuguese heart-throb won’t have long to enjoy the sun in Porto Cervo before it’s back to the training ground … Worth an estimated £70million, Ronaldo has continued to play down reports he will leave Manchester United for a move to Real Madrid … The beaches of Sardinia are a favourite holiday spot. He was there last year with then girlfriend, Spanish model Nereida Gallardo.

Yes, he looks much nicer in these photos where his tan looks pretty natural. I don’t think anyone liked it when he looked like a piece of burnt bacon last Summer. Here’s hopin’ we get much more of Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro lookin’ all wet and stuff at the world’s beaches!

Britney Spears Meets Up With Kevin Federline

Brings her agent Jason Trawick along for the ride
Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Britney Spears and her agent (beau?) Jason Trawick met up with Kevin Federline in Calabasas, CA yesterday presumably for a little tête-à-tête before she flies off to London, England to begin the second leg of her tour The Circus starring Britney Spears. As was previously reported, Britney will be taking her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James with her to Europe … it remains to be seen if K-Fed will follow along as well:

It’s interesting that Jason Trawick would come along for the meeting … I mean, it’s not odd that Britney would need the counsel of her agent in biz matters but this sounds like it was a personal matter. I wonder what other personal matters Britney turns to Jason for? I have my guesses ;) But I digress … I would bet good money that K-Fed will be getting a free trip to London from our dear Britney … I guess we shall soon find out. The Circus starring Britney Spears kicks off in London on Wednesday.

The Detroit Red Wings Win Game 1 Of The Stanley Cup Finals

The TV Guide
Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Yesterday was a pretty damn fun day here in Detroit, MI and I am so happy that I was able to be home to enjoy it. Our day started out with a visit to the statue of The Spirit of Detroit in downtown Detroit, which was all decked out in his Red Wings hockey jersey:

Then Sarah, Mark, David and I enjoyed late lunch/early dinner at Pegasus in Greek Town before Mark and I had the great privilege to attend Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals at the Joe Louis Arena. The Detroit Red Wings hosted the Pittsburgh Penguins and ended up pulling out a solid 3-1 victory to lead the Stanley Cup Finals series 1-0. Here are a few of the photos I was able to snap at the game yesterday:

I was really bummed that Twitter was “down for maintenance” for most of the game cuz I wasn’t able to post updates along the way. But, Mark and I had an amazing time at the game. I totally knew the Red Wings were gonna win … this never happens to me but I was sure the final score was gonna be 3-1. Being inside the Joe Louis Arena for any hockey game is a thrill … for a Stanley Cup Finals game, it was magic. I will say there was a pretty good sized contingent of Penguins fans in the hiz last night and they were, for the most part, respectful. But once the game was won by the Wings, they were pretty much invisible. Detroit erupted in celebration … it was really awesome to be a part of it.

After the game, Mark and I made our way to Connie & Jess’s place for a wine party they were hosting:

The eats and the drinks were phenominal. It was great getting to see Mike G. and Ben last night. We had so much fun … the celebratory mood did not stop. I’m not even sure what time we got home last night … ’twas fun, ’twas fun.

Today the four of us are heading out to The DTE Energy Center Pine Knob to see Nine Inch Nails and Jane’s Addiction in concert. This is my last NIN/JA 2009 show of the tour … so I’m hopin’ it’s a goodie :) Also, Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals is tonight … here’s hopin’ there will be more celebratin’ in Detroit tonight!

Prince Harry Plays Polo, Wins, Raises Money For His Charity

Horsin' around with the colonists
Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Prince Harry spent much of Day 2 of his first official visit to New York City yesterday horsing around with a few compatriots at the Veuve Cliquot Manhattan Polo Classic which took place on Governor’s Island in NY harbor. As you may recall, we learned yesterday that much of Day 1 was spent touring NYC on official biz. Yesterday’s charity polo match was played in an effort to raise funds for Harry’s charity Sentebele which benefits the children of Lesotho. Here are a few pics of Prince Harry doin’ his thang atop a horse named Serena as he lead his team to victory with a final score of 6-5:

Prince Harry ended his first trip to New York on Saturday with victory at a charity polo match and a dousing in champagne. The prince, 24, projected a newly serious image on his two-day visit to the Big Apple, kicking off his first official foreign trip by paying homage at Ground Zero, the site of the 9/11 attacks. But he was back to his glamour-loving ways Saturday at the star-studded game on Governor’s Island in the Hudson River, with Manhattan’s skyscrapers the dramatic backdrop. Riding a chestnut-colored pony called Serena he helped his team win 6-5 before an adoring crowd. Well-heeled guests and celebrities in sunglasses, suits, tiny dresses and large hats sipped Veuve Clicquot champagne, which sponsored the event, as they watched from white pavilions. On the other side of the pitch, hundreds of members of an enthusiastic public lay on the grass, roasting in the sun. All afternoon, the “mwah mwah” of air kisses mingled with the shutter snaps of paparazzi cameras and thud of galloping polo ponies. Argentine model and professional polo player Nacho Figueras, who captained the losing team, told AFP that Prince Harry was a “good player.” He dismissed suggestions before the game — staged to raise money for Prince Harry’s Lesotho children’s charity Sentebale — that he might go easy on his royal rival. “When we’re on the polo field we are all equal. That’s the way he’d like it,” said Figueras, whose appearance caused exclamations of admiration from several female journalists, including one gushing: “You’re so tall!” After the match, the famously hard-partying Prince Harry was soaked in champagne. Figueras sprayed the third in line to the British throne, who then drank from a champagne-filled trophy — and sprayed a mouthful of bubbly back. The red-headed prince is notorious for his late nights out and occasional PR gaffes, but is seen as one of the world’s most eligible bachelors. While New York is brimming with celebrities, the son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana has clearly made a mark. Invitees to the polo match included Madonna, Chloe Sevigny and fashion designer Marc Jacobs.

Rapper LL Cool J said he was thrilled. “It’s very cool he came over from London for it,” he said. The rapper, sporting diamond ear rings and shadowed by an enormous bodyguard in a black suit, said there was “a certain mystery” about royals. The closest he’d got to royalty, LL Cool J joked, was Queens — a decidedly down-to-earth area of New York City. This was Prince Harry’s first time to New York and first trip abroad as official representative of Buckingham Palace. He began on Friday with wreath-laying at Ground Zero, site of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack against the World Trade Center. He then named the British Garden in Manhattan in honor of the 67 Britons killed on 9/11 and met with veterans at a military hospital.

Congrats to Prince Harry and his team on their win … but really, it is the children who benefit from his charity Sentebele that are the real winners. I understand folks paid quite a pretty penny to attend yesterday’s event, with proceeds going to Harry’s charity. It looks like Madonna was interesting in pretty much everything else (including reading the new issue of Interview magazine which features Björk on the cover) BUT watching polo. Still, it was nice of her to grace the prince with her hallowed presence. And thus ends the first official visit to the US by his royal hawtness. We were very glad to have him and hopefully he’ll come back real soon.
