Um … the cover artwork for Brooke Hogan‘s new album The Redemption has made its way to the Internets … here is our first look at the new masterpiece:

Say this about the cover for Brooke Hogan’s second album, The Redemption: It’ll certainly look good when it’s replicated for the side of her tour bus. Or on the missing swaths of denim that were removed from an innocent pair of jeans during an assless chapectomy. I guess this is what happens when you get a VH1 show / learn that there’s no such thing as bad press?

At first, I thought this coverphoto was the cruel work of a jokester who very clearly hates Brooke Hogan. Then I realized that it originally came from Brooke‘s official website … so it’s her record company that really hates her. This SURELY must be the fugliest album cover that has EVER existed and will ever exist … ever. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA seems to pretty much say it all.

Guy Ritchie spent the Memorial Day weekend here in SoCal and was invited to a party in Malibu where it looked as if he made himself a new friend … a ladyfriend, that is. I suppose it’s possible that Guy and this blonde woman are “just friends” like Madonna and her 22 year old Brazilian toyboy model Jesus Luz are … or, they could just really be friends:

To be clear, Guy‘s goodbye kiss with this woman looks totally innocent. He was prolly just thanking her for a lovely party and that was all. I honestly don’t think that Guy Ritchie is lookin’ to jump into another relationship anytime soon. He seems happy tending to work and his children. That said, I do like Guy and I hope — when he’s ready — he finds a nice woman that will love and appreciate him. I’d deffo like to see him settled at some point.

Reese Witherspoon and her beau Jake Gyllenhaal joined Robert Downey, Jr. his son Indio Falconer and others for a private beach party in Malibu, CA yesterday afternoon. While GyllenSpoon did everything they could not to be photographed together (which makes absolutely no sense to me at all considering the many, many times we’ve seen them together), RDJ gave a very friendly wave and a hearty hello to the assembled photogs:

I really love the cut of Downey, Jr.‘s jib. The man is always pretty easy-going about his fame and tends to be very friendly towards the attention that his celebrity gets him. You gotta love a celeb that embraces their fame rather than those that seem annoyed that they’re famous. While I’m sure the party was very fun, I bet I’d like hanging out with the very friendly RDJ rather than the usually crabby GyllenSpoon.

At this point, there is no other information available from this issue of Interview other than it will be “out in the next few days”. It’s been far too long since we’ve seen Björk on the scene. I really loved her Icelandic documentary Náttúra (which is now available on iTunes) as well as her last album Volta. Hopefully this new interview with Interview will hint at a new album? I can’t wait to see more!!

Jesus Luz, who has been spending his time shopping for jewelry for Madonna as well as starting up a new career as a DJ, took time out of his bizzy schedule to give his first televised interview to the Brazilian TV show Fantástico wherein he talked about things as varied as his career, his ambitions and, of course, Madonna. Here are a few screencaps from his interview and a rundown of his interview:

Jesus Luz has spoken for the first time about his on/off lover Madonna, saying she is ‘beautiful’ and has ‘no visible faults’. In an interview with Brazilian television, the model heaped praise on the singer, but insisted they are just friends. He said: “Madonna is beautiful, a person full of positive energy, with no visible faults. I found her marvellous. Her personality also impressed me. She is a person I admire a lot, a friend in my life, who I remain in contact with. But apart from that I cannot say more.” He denied claims that the pair are set to tie the knot, insisting: “She’s my friend, only a friend. There are no wedding plans, no wedding presents, she’s just a friend, who I speak to frequently as I do with my friends in Rio de Janeiro,” he added, in his native Portuguese. Madonna, 50, met Jesus, 22, on the set of a W magazine shoot in Brazil last December. Despite rumours of a split earlier this year, the couple seem to be going strong and have increasingly been seen out and about in New York of late. In February he joined the singer and her three children David, three, Rocco, eight and Lourdes, 12, at a Kabbalah service in the city. And last week their wore similar cream outfits as they arrived for another Kabbalah ceremony in New York. The model’s father Luiz Heitor Pinto da Luz has hinted in an interview that they are preparing to exchange religious vows. He said: “My understanding is that this is just a consequence of what is happening. He is already living with her. I don’t know if there will be an actual wedding. From what I have read there could be a sort of ritual, but I don’t know Kabbalah… to know if it’s valid and legal.” And the rumours strengthened when Jesus was seen in a jewellery store in Rio. But the singer’s spokeswoman said the wedding rumours were “completely and totally not true.” In the TV interview Jesus also denied having been converted by Madonna, and said: “I used to go to Catholic church in Rio, and Evangelical churches, but I don’t have any special feelings for any specific religion, I respect all of them.”

As far as first interviews go, this one is pretty tame. Naturally he didn’t give away too much information and he did deny that anything romantic is going on between he and Madonna. I just don’t buy the friends thing. Why would Madonna want a 22 year old male friend? It makes no sense … but keep touting the party line, Jesus. It’s bound to keep you in her Madgesty‘s good graces. Despite my best efforts to leave the house yesterday (which basically came down to deciding whether to eat out or order in), I ended up spending most of the day in front of the TV catching up on some of my fave shows (In Treatment) and watching some great movies (Footloose, Return of the Jedi and Legally Blonde). That was pretty much my day. After all the running around we’ve been doing the previous week, I was totally fine with staying in. David and I will be flying out to Detroit on Friday for all of next week so I’m pretty much planning on doing more of the same this week. I am meeting up with a friend for dinner at Rambutan Thai tonight but other than that, no big plans for the day.

The California Supreme Court has just issued its ruling on the case against California Prop 8 (which was passed in the November election here in California that amended the State constitution to ban same-sex marriage) and decided that Prop 8 is valid, same-sex marriage will remain illegal in the State of California. The only glimmer of good news from today’s ruling is that the court also ruled that the approximately 18,000 same-sex couples who were wed last year when the practice was legal will still be legally married:

The California Supreme Court today upheld Proposition 8′s ban on same-sex marriage but also ruled that gay couples who wed before the election will continue to be married under state law. The decision virtually ensures another fight at the ballot box over marriage rights for gays. Gay rights activists say they may ask voters to repeal the marriage ban as early as next year, and opponents have pledged to fight any such effort. Proposition 8 passed with 52% of the vote. Although the court split 6-1 on the constitutionality of Proposition 8, the justices were unanimous in deciding to keep intact the marriages of as many as 18,000 gay couples who exchanged vows before the election. The marriages began last June, after a 4-3 state high court ruling striking down the marriage ban last May. In an opinion written by Chief Justice Ronald M. George, the state high court ruled today that the November initiative was not an illegal constitutional revision, as gay rights lawyers contended, nor unconstitutional because it took away an inalienable right, as Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown argued. Only Justice Carlos R. Moreno, the court’s sole Democrat, wanted Proposition 8 struck down as an illegal constitutional revision. Justice Joyce L. Kennard, who voted with the majority last year to give gays marriage rights, joined George and the court’s four other justices in voting to uphold Proposition 8. The case for overturning the initiative was widely viewed as a long shot. Gay rights lawyers had no solid legal precedent on their side, and some of the court’s earlier holdings on constitutional revisions mildly undercut their arguments. But gay marriage advocates captured a wide array of support in the case, with civil rights groups, legal scholars and even some churches urging the court to overturn the measure. Supporters of the measure included many churches and religious organizations. Before last fall, California was one of only two states — the other was Massachusetts — to permit same-sex marriage. Iowa, Connecticut, Vermont and Maine have since legalized it, and lawmakers in New York, New Jersey and New Hampshire are considering bills of their own. California’s historic 2008 ruling, written by George, repeatedly invoked the words “respect and dignity” and framed the marriage question as one that deeply affected not just couples but also their children. California has more than 100,000 households headed by gay couples, about a quarter with children, according to 2000 census data. As soon as the ruling was final, thousands of gay couples showed up at city halls around the state to marry, and many flew in from elsewhere for California weddings. While the wedding business was brisk, opponents mounted a heated campaign with the help of churches and conservatives to overturn the court’s action. Even with the court upholding Proposition 8, a key portion of the court’s May 15, 2008, decision remains intact. Sexual orientation will continue to receive the strongest constitutional protection possible when California courts consider cases of alleged discrimination. The California Supreme Court is the only state high court in the nation to have elevated sexual orientation to the status of race and gender in weighing discrimination claims.

While very upsetting, this news is unsurprising. It was widely expected that the court would uphold Prop 8 and still validate the same-sex marriages that took place here in California when the practice was legal. The next step for same-sex marriage supporters is to put the measure back on the ballot (as early as next year) to amend the State constitution again. It is very clear that California is deeply divided on this issue … the clash of conservatives and liberals is very marked in this State. Altho I was pretty sure I knew what the ruling would be, I’m still very saddened by the outcome. It does hearten me that there are beacons of hope for true freedom in this country shining from the great states of Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, Vermont and Maine. The fight for marriage equality still has a long way to go … but we will get there one day. Of that, I have no doubt.

After many, many weeks of being separated from one another, 16 year old Miley Cyrus stepped out yesterday with her 20 year old manfriend Justin Gaston for a little dinner excursion to the Sherman Oaks Galleria (they dined at the Cheesecake Factory). Since Miley has been bizzy all over the world working, Justin has remained here in SoCal doing whatever it is that he does while living with the Cyrus family. But, at long last, Jiley has been reunited:

Hahahaha … it looks like Justin had forgotten his place in the time that Jiley have been apart. It’s good of Miley to remind him. So … yeah … it looks like the couple are still very much in full swing. Perhaps now that Miley has returned from her adventures abroad, she’ll be able to spend more time with her older man this Summer on bike rides, movie dates and of course church services. Praise Jebus, Jiley is back together!

It appears that someone was interested in enjoying the lovely weather we enjoyed here in SoCal over the weekend and was lookin’ to soak up some sun. Jared has really gotten his body back in shape after bulking up for his role in Chapter 27 a couple of years ago … it’s so nice of him to show it off :) Yeah, this post is pretty much chock full of gratuitousness so … let’s just enjoy, shall we?
