En Vogue Reunite, Launch A New Tour

And now it's time for a breakdown!
Monday, May 11th, 2009

This morning while watching The View, I was very surprised to learn that En Vogue would be performing on the show to publicly announce the launch of a new tour that will reunite the Funky Divas together again 20 years after they broke out onto the scene. It turns out that the ladies performed a show at B.B. King’s in NYC last night as precursor to their appearance on The View today. Here are a few pics from last night’s performance and some deets about the gig:

Last night, R & B foursome En Vogue celebrated the 20th anniversary of their formation with a show at B.B. King’s in New York. [En Vogue performed among other songs] the monster ballad “Don’t Let Go,” which was the group’s final single to feature prodigal daughter Dawn Robinson (she returned to the fold last year), last night; somehow, it manages to be a pure display of pipes and a mass singalong at the same time. Nice trick, that.

According to the group’s official My Space profile (they don’t seem to have an official website just yet), the ladies plan to release a new album to coincide with the tour they’re launching this year. I, for one, am excited beyond belief. En Vogue performed a medley of their big hits on The View this morning but I have been unable to find video of the performance to share. But, after the jump, you can watch the ladies perform Don’t Let Go at B.B. King’s nightclub last night …

Something Lestrange Is Afoot On The Set Of ‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows’

Bellatrix ain't for kids
Monday, May 11th, 2009

Production has begun on the first part of the new film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in the UK this month and Helena Bonham Carter, who plays the wickedly evil Bellatrix Lestrange, was spotted on the set of the film in Pembrokeshire, Wales lookin’ about as fierce as can be … behold:

Bellatrix is deffo the HBIC in Voldermort’s army of minions. She is absolutely one of my favorite characters. I cannot imagine anyone else playing the role of Bellatrix other than Helena Bonham Carter, mostly because Bellatrix at her most dastardly is pretty much what Helena looks like on a daily basis. She rules! I hope we get to see more from the set of Harry Potter as filming continues in the weeks to come.

‘The Princess And The Frog’ Releases A New Poster

Frogger
Monday, May 11th, 2009

Yesterday we got our first look at the first movie for the new Walt Disney 2D animated film The Princess and the Frog. Today we get to check out the film’s first movie poster:

Cinematical has just received this beautiful exclusive teaser poster for Disney’s The Princess and the Frog, which marks the studio’s triumphant return to 2D hand-drawn animation. Featuring the voices of Anika Noni Rose (as Princess Tiana), Oprah Winfrey, Keith David, Jim Cummings, John Goodman, Jenifer Lewis, Bruno Campos, Michael-Leon Wooley, Peter Bartlett and Terrence Howard, The Princess and the Frog is based on E.D. Baker’s classic novel The Frog Princess, except this film — written and directed by the filmmaking duo of John Musker and Ron Clements (The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules) — is set in New Orleans, stars a singing crocodile and features Disney’s first African-American princess. Famed songwriter/composer Randy Newman (Toy Story, Monsters, Inc.) lent his familiar voice to the soundtrack, which I’m sure will carve out its special place alongside Disney’s long list of memorable tracks … folks will have a chance to see the film when it hits theaters in New York and LA on November 25th before expanding wide on December 11th.

I love this poster … the colors are very sharp and vibrant … but doesn’t this poster make it look more like it’s advertising a 3D movie rather than a 2D hand-drawn movie? Even still, I’m really looking forward to the release of this film. It’s been far too long since Disney released a film with a full soundtrack of amazing songs. In the 90’s hey day, the soundtracks were just as entertaining as the films were. Here’s hoping The Princess and the Frog will offer some fun songs when it hits theaters later on this year. What is your fave Disney movie song? I have way too many faves but I’ve lately been singing Prince Ali from Aladdin. Good stuff, yo!

Members Of No Doubt Find ‘LOVE’ In Las Vegas

Beatles-mania
Monday, May 11th, 2009

The members of No Doubt (sans drummer Adrian Young) attended last night’s performance of the Cirque du Soleil show LOVE at the Mirage Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV and stuck around afterward to meet the entire cast of the show. Gwen Stefani’s eldest child, Kingston James McGregor, joined his mom and her bandmates for the show … the members of No Doubt are in Sin City this week to prep for a “secret show” at Tiger Jam at Mandalay Bay this coming Friday night. Here are a few pics from last night’s fun:

I understand that Gwen sipped cocktails with director Sophie Mueller (who she’s worked with on music videos before) while little Kingston danced thruout the show in his seat … and in his mommy’s lap. It looks as if the whole gang had themselves a great time. LOVE is one of the Cirque shows that I’ve yet to see … I hear it’s fantastic. I wonder if there will be any more No Doubt sightings this week leading up to the show on Friday.

Britney Spears Goes For A Ride With Jason Trawick

Riding on the freeway of love?
Monday, May 11th, 2009

Britney Spears, who is back home in SoCal for a few weeks having just completed the first leg of her tour and is planning to take the show to Europe next month, was spotted with her agent and RUMORED romantic interest Jason Trawick over the weekend. The couple were riding — alone — in her white Mercedes. According to reports, the couple just drove around LA for 2 straight hours … never once stopping for food or gas:

HMMM … driving around for 2 hours, Britwick? What in the world could they have talked about for such a long time? I suppose it’s entirely possible that they were just tooling around LA talking biz but … isn’t it also possible that they wanted to spend time together and not worry about being seen or overheard? Unfortch for that scenario, the paps are really good at getting photos of people in their cars so … HMMM. What the case may be, I think it’s great that Britney has guys like Jason in her life rather than the seedy dudes she used to fraternize with. Coupled up or not, I like seeing Britney with Jason. I think he’s a good influence on her.

Princes William & Harry Play A Game Of Polo

Plus, Wills gets coupley with Kate Middleton
Monday, May 11th, 2009

Their Royal Hawtnesses, Princes William and Harry, participated in a polo match in the UK that raised funds for various charities and they both looked quite fetching in their sporting attire. At the match, Wills and his longtime girlfriend Kate Middleton showed a lot of public affection for one another, which is very surprising considering that the couple have tried to keep their distance and a relative low profile together in the past few months. Here are a few photos from yesterday’s polo match and some deets on what went down:

Prince William and girlfriend Kate Middleton may have managed to keep the lowest of low profiles throughout the winter, but on Sunday they were out for all to see – and to be caught in a rare moment of public affection as they walked from a post-polo match party near Windsor, England. “William spent about 40 minutes at the party after his match, and then picked up Kate and they wandered back to the car,” says an onlooker. “He put his left arm around her back and there was plenty of smiling between them.” During the match, Kate sat with her sister Pippa and one of William’s best friends, Tom van Staubenzee – whose family charity was one of the beneficiaries of the afternoon. Middleton, 27, didn’t show much reaction during the match – which William and Prince Harry’s team, Umbogo, won by four goals to three. “She was just enjoying the sunshine and the game,” says the bystander. Sunday’s event, sponsored by Audi, raised money for three of the princes’ pet causes: Harry’s Sentebale charity for the African nation of Lesotho; the Child Bereavement Charity, of which William, 26, is a patron; and the Henry van Straubenzee Memorial Fund, of which both princes are patrons.

Hahaha … imagine that! The team with the two princes on it won the match. I love it! Actually, I love anytime that either prince participates in a polo match like this … something about the bright white pants and those leather boots … it’s a good look, I think :) I’m also happy that Kate and Wills are back to PDAing it. I love them together and I hope we get to see more of them together in the future. Long live Wills and Kate!

Justin Long Shows Off His Brand New Hickey

At lunch with Drew Barrymore
Monday, May 11th, 2009

HMMMM … despite claiming that the couple are “just friends”, Drew Barrymore met up with former flame Justin Long for a quick bite to eat at the Farmers Market here in LA yesterday. Drew looked like she was trying to go incognito by covering up as much of her head/face as possible … mebbe she was too embarrassed to be seen with the massive hickey that Justin was sportin’ on his neck?

Now, just because Drew was with Justin at lunch and just because he was showing off a pretty heinous-looking hickey on his neck doesn’t necessarily mean that she is responsible for the love bite … but it sure looks suspicious to me. I think it’s great that the couple are spending so much time together again. I loved them when they were together and I really hope they rekindle their romance for real and get back together. While I find hickeys totally unsavory and absolutely unnecessary, I guess I can’t really fault Justin for letting “whoever” leave their mark on him. Get it together guys, we’re all rooting for you!
