Ryan Gosling, who is currently in production of his new film Blue Valentine, was spotted near the movie set in Pennsylvania yesterday signing autographs and posing for photos with some fans … who clearly were not bothered that Ryan looked like he got his face bashed in:

No, Ryan did not accidentally bump into Kiefer Sutherland causing him to beat the crap out of him … he was merely wearing make-up and face prosthetics to make it look like he got the crap beat out of him. Even tho I know these injuries are fake I still can’t help but feel bad for him. A purdy face like Ryan’s should never be marred in this way. I love that he posed for fun pics with little kids, it only makes his hawtness more … hawt! Even with all of this make-up, he still looks great … don’t you think?

In a new interview with Attitude magazine, Tori Amos expresses her disappointment at the fact that California voters could, on the very same day, elect our nation’s first African-American president and also deprive a segment of the citizenry the fundamental right to marry. Now, anyone who is even remotely aware of Tori and her politics should not be surprised by this news at all … even still, at a time when our country still has a long way to go in terms of providing marriage equality for all her comments are definitely worth passing along:

Tori Amos has blasted voters who pushed through a gay marriage ban in California – because it goes against the teachings of Martin Luther King, Jr. The God hitmaker, whose father is a Methodist minister, insists outlawing same-sex unions is un-Christian and a breach of civil rights. And she is confused Californian voters passed the Proposition 8 bill – which reversed a previous ruling permitting gay marriage in the state – on the same day Barack Obama was elected U.S. President last year. She tells Attitude magazine, “(I was) extremely disappointed. Well, we go back to this concept of emancipation. The idea of ‘We will overcome’ from the great Dr. Martin Luther King, was made flesh as Obama was put into the office and yet at the same time another group of people were subjugated by some of those voters. “A lot of people were saying, ‘Well you have to understand that a lot of the voters are Democratic and Christians, the ones that had an issue with rights for the gay community’. And I would say how, in any way, is that the Christian path?”

God Bless Tori Amos. I love that the woman never shies away from voicing her opinions. Her point that Christian path is one of love and acceptance is a valid one. There will always be those people who use religion to their own selfish ends … which is sad because those people ruin things for everyone. I’m convinced that marriage equality will be a reality for all in this country some day, hopefully soon. I’m glad to know that the fight for equality for all has an intelligent woman like Tori Amos on its side.

Okay … now let’s take this with a grain of salt BUT gossip Nikki Finke is reporting that the much-ballyhooed Gossip Girl spin-off that The CW has been reportedly prepping for their Fall line-up has been killed … axed … is dunzo. Finke reports that her sources tell her that excitement over the show has waned to the point that the network has decided to kill the show before it even begins. HMMM. I’m not sure that I entirely believe this report but I would be remiss if I didn’t at least pass it along. Could the as-yet untitled Gossip Girl spin-off really be dunzo already?

OVERVIEW: Everyone laughs about The CW but its development is praised this season for being very targeted. The result is that 5 out of 6 of its pilots seemed to be real. But that’s already winnowed down to 3 because of the lack of slots. (And, no, The CW or its designated hitter won’t be programming Sundays next fall.)

GOSSIP GIRL SPINOFF (Warner Bros/CBS-Paramount/Alloy Entertainment): As I reported at 2:45 PM today, put a fork in it. It’s done. Next Monday’s episode of Gossip Girl is a flashback that was supposed to be a tempting taste for next fall’s spinoff following the wild teen years of now mom Lily van der Woodsen (played by Brittany Snow) in Los Angeles in the 1980s. But even though I heard Peter Roth loved its yesteryear vibe, the show went from hot, to lukewarm, to “fading but wouldn’t count out”, to now dead, according to my insiders. I’m really surprised.

HMMM … Nikki Finke’s track record for getting these sorts of reports right is spotty at best … but she does get things very right sometimes. I would at least expect The CW to see how Monday’s flashback/setup episode Valley Girls goes before they’d make a decision like this but … who knows. What do you think? Could it really be that The CW would kill one of it’s most-talked about new series before one minute of it has been aired on TV?

Jake Gyllenhaal, who is back in SoCal after a quick trip to Italy last weekend to attend his sister’s wedding, was spotted meeting up with his ladyfriend Reese Witherspoon for a quiet bite to eat at R&D Kitchen in Santa Monica, CA yesterday. Just because the couple is kinda ZZZZZZ-worthy when they are together doesn’t mean that he isn’t Le Sigh-worthy when he’s pictured all by himself:

Kylie Minogue, who has made her way to NYC to (among other things) announce that she will be touring the US for the first time ever this Fall, was on hand at the DKMS Gala at Cipriani’s last night along with fellow songstress Rihanna, fashion designers Betsey Johnson & Vera Wang and more. Kylie Minogue must have wished she had worn a pair of extreme heels as she stood next to striking singer Rihanna at a charity event in New York last night. For as she posed next to the 21-year Barbados born beauty, she appeared even smaller than usual. Rihanna wore a pair of 5inch high Louis Vuitton calf-length boots with a sculpted heel, along with a typically avantgarde outfit to the DKMS Gala benefit at Cipriani’s last night. But standing at an above average 5ft 8in in her stockings next to the 5ft tall Aussie singer, Kylie, 40, was always going to come off worst in the battle of heights between the pop divas. However, Rihanna didn’t have it all her way, as Kylie looked stunning in a black body-hugging jersey gown showing off a very svelte and youthful figure. While pop singer Rihanna sported yet another outre outfit from her new ‘look at me’ wardrobe. A metallic backless top with huge shoulders, and a plum-coloured tulip shaped miniskirt. She accessorised it with bling nails and an outrageously spiky ring … The pair were in attendance at a fundraiser for DKMS the world’s largest bone marrow transplant donor centre which uses it’s resources to fight against leukemia. On Monday night she attended her first big event since taking time out from her career when she walked the red carpet at the Costume Institute Gala. Dressed in a Dolce and Gabbana suit with huge puffed sleeves she certainly stood out among the assembles star power which included Madonna, and Kate Moss Yesterday, the Bajan singer went house-hunting for a Manhattan base and spent the afternoon looking at luxury apartments.

Yesterday we saw pics from the Empire State Building lighting ceremony that took place the night before, hosted by Kylie, to celebrate this DKMS Gala — clearly, Kylie is intent on taking the US by storm … well, trying to … well, again. To be honest, as excited as I am that Kylie is finally touring here in the US, I know she will never be a major star in this country. I know that Kylie is doing this mini Fall tour for the fans that she already has in this country. We’ve waited her entire career to see her tour this country … it’s about time :) I hope we get to see a lot more Kylie in the weeks and months to come. It’s gonna be a long Summer waiting for Kylie’s first US tour to start … I can’t wait.

Woot! It’s been quite some time since we’ve been able to feast our eyes on the shirtlessness of Hugh Jackman in public but at long last … the time has come once again. Hugh, who is back home with his family in NYC, spent some time this week in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to do a bit of promo for his new movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Homie took a break from all of his hard work to enjoy the beautiful Brazilian sun … making our day a wee bit brighter as a result:

OY! This man is so hot it hurts! I am so happy that temps are finally warming up here in the US … hopefully the higher temperature will result in a lot more shirtlessness from our dear Hugh. MMMM. Keep it comin’, Hugh. Burn all of your shirts, please.

Last night Josh I got to see Star Trek at an ArcLight Cinema members’ screening just hours before the film opened wide at 12AM today. Since I already formally reviewed the film last week after I saw Trek at the Hollywood premiere at Grauman’s Chinese Theater, I shant go into another full-fledged review … but a few things did occur to me having seen the movie a second time, so I’ll share those with all y’all:

First off … I still love this movie. I think it was even better seeing it the second time. While I was a bit miffed at the major changes done to the ST timeline in this movie, I decided to look at the film without that elitist notion and just see the film for what it is … a truly epic, spectacular blockbuster movie. It really is larger than life. The film clarifies, once and for all, Uhura’s first name and if you pay attention, you might learn where the Cloverfield monster comes from. I’m convinced that it will be the biggest movie of the year. It’s great … I’m sure many of you are planning on seeing the film today or this weekend, trust me — you’re gonna love.

After the movie, I raced home to watch Game 4 of the Stanley Cup playoffs between the Detroit Red Wings and the Anaheim Ducks … while I was stressed for most of the game, I am happy to report that the Wings handily defeated the Ducks by a score of 6 – 3:

The series is now tied at 2 games a piece … the teams go back to Detroit for game 5 on Sunday. Woot!!
