TMZ has scored photos of Casey Aldridge‘s smashed truck and it’s clear from how banged up the vehicle is that he is lucky to be alive. I understand that Casey and 3 of his passangers were thrown from the car when he rolled it into a ditch last Sunday. Apparently, alcohol was not involved but still … rolling a truck like that could be deadly … especially when the truck ends up looking like this:

Yikes, it was just last October that we saw pics of Casey carefully washing his truck at a DIY car wash and now it looks like his toy is headed for the scrap heap. In the end, trucks can be replaced … lives cannot. I’m sure Jamie Lynn Spears and Maddie Briann are happy that Casey is OK. The truck is done for tho. Ah well, c’est la vie.

New American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi is confirming to TV Guide magazine that if everything goes according to the initial plan she will be, indeed, leaving AI after this season is over. She reveals that she was only brought on board for one season but I suspect there’s more to it than that. Having 4 judges means there is less time for each judge to go about the business of judging. Recently there was a terrible episode of AI were only 2 of the 4 judges was allowed time do judge each performance … it just didn’t work. As a result, Kara has got to go. She is dunzo, y’all:

She’s finally come into her own, but the newest American Idol judge knows as little as we do about whether or not the four-judge format is here to stay. “I’m only here for one season,” Kara DioGuardi tells TV Guide Magazine exclusively. “That’s what we’ve discussed. So we’ll see what happens. Hopefully they’ll keep me on.” When asked if DioGuardi would be back next year, Simon Cowell told TV Guide Magazine, “I would imagine so, but the only say I have is about Ryan, Randy and Paula. I’ve always made it clear that I wouldn’t like to do the show without them. So that’s all I’m really concerned about.” At the Phoenix House’s 6th Annual Triumph for Teens Awards Gala in Beverly Hills on April 30, DioGuardi admits to us that the experience has been overwhelming, but says she is nothing but grateful. “My life has become extremely exciting and I am so excited for this opportunity,” she says. “I feel grateful to America that they let me grow and they let me find my groove on the show and that they were patient. And hopefully I haven’t disappointed them. It’s been a scary experience at times.” The songwriter with more than 100 hit singles to her name has already considered pairing up with this season’s Idols for some song writing sessions, but first on the agenda has been penning the winner’s song. She has submitted her entry and is now waiting to find out which song will be picked.

Kara is extremely talented but … she’s gotta go. 4 judges is too much … and as much grief as I give Paula Abdul, there’s no way the show can carry on without her. She is an integral part of AI as are Simon and Randy. The only thing that makes sense is to 86 the new girl. It was worth a try, it didn’t work … carry on. What do y’all think … should she stay or should she go?

The un-Bump Watch continues for Sarah Jessica Parker today as she was spotted enjoying a stroll in Manhattan yesterday with her 6 year old son James Wilkie in tow. As we are well aware, SJP and hubby Matthew Broderick are expecting the birth of twin daughters by a surrogate this Summer therefore there is no baby bump to watch out for. But, the focus has turned back to SJP since news of the impending birth of her twins came out so we get to watch her hit the streets of NYC until her babies arrive. Friends of SJP and Matthew reveal to People magazine that the couple have been trying to have another baby but it “wasn’t happening” so that is why they decided to go the surrogacy route:

The night before the news broke that Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are expecting twin girls via surrogate, Parker certainly looked like a mom-to-be: She was glowing and forgoing those famous Sex and the City cosmopolitans. “She was in such a great mood, so sweet to everyone and so happy,” says a guest who attended the party at 675 Bar for Broderick’s film, Wonderful World, at the Tribeca Film Festival on Monday night. “They were tucked into a corner throughout the night. He drank martinis and she drank water. They were really loving and adoring. She did look beautiful.” According to friends, the actress has been ready for more children for a long time. “They’ve always wanted to become parents again,” says a source who has known the couple for years. “They realized after the first or second year after [son James Wilkie] was born that it would be nice to have another baby.” Though “they’ve always talked about wanting [more] kids, it just wasn’t happening,” says a pal of Broderick’s. Parker “had difficulty getting pregnant. So they went the surrogate route.” Friends say the couple love the roles of Mom and Dad. “They are great parents,” says the source. “They have a good time with their son.” The source adds, “Matthew is very hands-on. He loves to get on the floor and play with James. He’s a kid himself so he loves to act like a kid with James. And James, of course, loves it.” So how is Parker preparing for babies? This week, she stepped out to do a little shopping at the Manhattan toy store, Kidding Around. Perhaps she just needed to buy a few things in pink. “I can’t wait to have ‘The Girl,’ ” she told Western Mail in 2003. “I’ve been saving all my things for her. Everything: crazy Judith Leiber handbags, Manolos…”

It’s unclear what kind of surrogacy the couple employed to have their babies … either SJP‘s fertilized eggs have been implanted in the surrogate mother or someone else’s eggs were fertilized with Matthew‘s sperm. We may never know how the babies were conceived but it doesn’t really matter. I’m sure the babies were brought forth out of love and they will be loved and cared for unconditionally. I’ve always wondered what SJP would do if she had a little girl … I can’t wait to see her dote and spoil those little girls as much as she can. Mebbe now she can stop dressing James Wilkie like a girl, too :)

Lindsay Lohan made her way back home to SoCal from her short holiday on the island of Maui, HI recently so that she could attend the launch party for her new fake tanning lotion product called Sevin Nyne. Lindsay, her Sevin Nyne partner (and creator) Lorit Simon and others were on hand at the launch party for the Sephora in Santa Monica, CA last night. Sevin Nyne was named from a combination of Lindsay and Samantha Ronson‘s lucky numbers and speaking of, Linds talked a bit about her ex to E! News who attended last night’s event. Nearly a month after her split from Samantha Ronson, Lindsay Lohan is beginning to feel as good as she looks. Fresh from her bikini bod-showcasing Hawaiian vacation, the 22-year-old admitted that April had been, to put it mildly, “a hard month,” and while she said she is doing her best to move on personally and professionally, she told E! News she and Ronson remain “in touch.” “We’re friends,” she said at the launch of her Sevin Nyne spray-tanning line in Santa Monica last night. (The line, available via Sephora, is named after Lohan and Ronson’s lucky numbers.) “I’m doing great. I’m very happy.” She shied away from stating exactly how frequently she and Ronson touch base, but they did briefly reunite in person last week. Asked how she’s managing to get her life back in order in the wake of the surprise split, Lohan pointed to her family, particularly sister Ali (who tagged along to Hawaii and was present at the launch party). “We’re a tight family,” she said. “We’ve been through a lot, so we take care of each other.” Including those weight rumors. While the recent onslaught of Lohan bikini pics has given way to yet another round of concerned critics slamming her for being too skinny, the star defended her body, saying, “I like the way I look.” As for her day job, Lohan told E! News she is in final negotiations for a film that is scheduled to start shooting in October. She would not divulge any details about the potential project, however, as it has yet to be a done deal. “It’s not signed, but we’re close.” She also said she’s close to returning to the recording studio, and named Pharrell as a producer she would like to work with—that is, if he wasn’t, for some unknown reason, feuding with her. However, sticking true to her promise to get her life drama-free, Lohan did her best to nip the beef in the bud, imploring the fellow artist through the E! News cameras to call a truce. “Pharrell, don’t be mad,” she said.

Nice, Nice … Lindsay is keeping herself bizzy with work … it’s a very good sign. I’m curious and a bit skeptical about this “movie project” that she mentioned but if it turns out to be true then I think it’d be really good for her to get back in serious work mode. I don’t know how successful this fake tan stuff will be but, meh, it’s something for her to do. Sevin Nyne will be available exclusively in Sephora shops starting this month. And just think, buying the stuff won’t just make your skin look unnaturally orange but it’ll also be putting some more cash in Lindsay‘s pockets. Win/Win, right?

Some folks said that it wouldn’t last but Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon managed to successfully make it thru one year of happily wedded bliss as they celebrated their first anniversary last night at the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV. Touched by the moving tributes to the couple, Mimi openly cried as she celebrated her marriage to her hubby Nick Cannon. Here are a few pics from last night’s celebration and some info on what went down at the shindig:

Where has the time gone? With smiles on their faces, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon celebrated one year of wedded bliss Thursday in Las Vegas at the Palms Casino Resort. “It’s a very special occasion,” Cannon told the crowd at Moon Nightclub, where he was deejaying, “toast to everyone.” After a very private wedding a year ago, the couple decided to do the opposite for their anniversary, celebrating with a nightclub full of people. The couple did, however, dine in a private room at Simon beforehand. Once inside the club, the couple were greeted with a four-foot birthday cake. And the surprises kept coming – at least for Carey. Unbeknownst to her, Cannon produced a video of the couple’s last year, including video of intimate moments. After the video was shown, Carey was seen crying. “This is the most amazing person in the world,” Cannon said into the microphone about his wife. “I dedicate my life to her daily, and together this union is gonna last forever. She is my rock.” Carey replied: “I have the best man in the whole wide world.” The gushfest continued after a balloon drop and a clubwide toast, which Cannon dedicated to his wife.

Where has the time gone, indeed! I cannot believe it’s been a whole year! I remember when we caught wind that they crazy kids went and got hitched and I, too, was among the detractors that didn’t see how their union would be able to stand the test of time. I am very happy to be proved wrong … even tho they have only made it to their one year anniversary, I think they’ve proven (not that they needed to at all) that they are in it for the long haul. Mariah Carey isn’t usually one to show this much emotion … that she would so openly cry at a tribute like this is very touching. I’m so happy that she’s found someone to share her life with. I’m pretty sure I’ll go back to making fun of their relationship from time to time but, for now, I’m happy to celebrate their anniversary. May Mr. & Mrs. Cannon have many more anniversary celebrations to come!!

So … last night David and I were invited to attend the Hollywood premiere of the new JJ Abrams-directed Star Trek film at Grauman’s Chinese Theater and we JUMPED at the opportunity. As a long time Trek fan, I was very anxious to finally see the movie that I have heard so many good things about. I am happy to report that all the hype and the great reviews are absolutely justified … I loved this film. There is so much for old Trek fans to feast on in this film but also much for new fans (or those who aren’t even fans all) to enjoy as well. I suspect that this film will do very well with everyone … it’s got movie blockbuster written all over it. If you wish to remain unspoiled by my review, I suggest you skip over the next part and just go down to see my pics from the premiere after party instead:

Man … where to begin. The story is really superb. The film opens with an action sequence that really sets the pace of the film and clues you in that Abrams means business … he is intent on revamping the entire series into a new, modern version that remains true to the classic series while injecting enough excitement to make it all fresh again. There is action, there is humor and there are pretty fantastic acting performances that are sure to please pretty much everyone who sees the film. Each character gets to shine in this film and each one is infused with enough of their classic mannerisms and catch-phrases to appease the most ardent Trekkie in the audience. I will reveal that a warp core does get ejected somewhere along the way … it wouldn’t be a Star Trek movie if not.

Now, the one thing that I’m not sure that I like. AND THIS IS THE SPOILERY PART SO DON’T READ THIS IF YOU WANT TO REMAIN UNSPOILED! As we should all know by now, JJ Abrams loves to play with time travel … and time travel features heavily in this film. Without going into any details, I will say that a time shift alters the Star Trek timeline and the events of this film break off and head in a different direction than the timeline we know from the classic Star Trek series. This is why I don’t think the movie should be marketed as a prequel. History is changed and a new alternate timeline is created. To me, the movie is more of a sequel to all of the previous TV series and movies that we’ve already seen. That said, this new alternate timeline opens up WIDE the ability to create entirely new stories and wholly new adventures without having to worry about staying true to the original Trek timeline. Again, I’m not sure how I feel about this exactly. There are major changes in this film that drastically alter the Trek universe. I’ll be very interested to hear what others think about this after they see the film (so, please, feel free to email me when you see this film).

But, as I said, I absolutely loved the film overall. Zachary Quinto‘s Spock is excellent and he is, IMHO, the star of the film. I was just so impressed … I’m dying to see the movie again already.

The principle cast, along with a few folks from previous incarnations of the franchise as well as a few celeb fans, made their way out to Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, CA last night for the Hollywood premiere of JJ Abrams‘s new Star Trek film (tho you may recall that the film already premiered in Sydney, Australia and London, England). No Doubt, who has been on a bit of a hiatus in the past few years, made their triumphant return to the performance stage this morning on The Today Show. The band kicked off the Today Show‘s Summer Concert Series by performing a few of their biggest hits — Spiderwebs, Don’t Speak and their Talk Talk cover It’s My Life. Today’s performance was the first that the band has done publicly in 5 years! I believe the band will next be seen on the May 11th ep of Gossip Girl where they will portray the fictional 80′s band Snowed Out (say the name outloud to get the joke) … then the band will embark on their much anticipated “reunion” tour this Summer.
