Zac Efron, who is everywhere these days, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of GQ magazine. In his coverstory interview, Zac discusses his smart plan to keep his partying under wraps, his plans to NOT get married any time soon (sorry, Vanessa Hudgens) and various other topics suitable for a young actor actively promoting the release of a new movie. Here is Zac‘s GQ magazine coverphoto and a portion of his coverstory interview:

Zac Efron may be making the leap from teen-dream to grown-up movie star with this weekend’s release of “17 Again,” but don’t expect him to cut loose any time soon. The 21-year-old star told GQ’s May 2009 issue that although he enjoys having alcohol in private with pals, he has no plans to put his partying on parade. “It’s common sense. If you’re gonna be drunk with your friends, don’t get wasted at the Chateau Marmont and hook up with some famous chick,” he told the mag. “It’s not rocket science. I don’t want to be famous for my personality,” Efron continued. “If anything, I keep that under wraps.” While Efron keeps his private life private, he opened up, just a little, about his romantic life, if only to shoot down rumors he and girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens have marriage on the mind. “That was such bullshit,” he said of recent nuptial rumors. “I’m definitely not getting married. In this business, you’re either getting married or they want you to be pregnant. I’m not getting married until I’m 40. If ever. The thought never crossed my mind. Maybe not 40. Maybe not until I’m 30,” he quickly corrected himself. In the meantime, Efron is content to be an acting star, something he said he didn’t expect when he was younger. “That was the one thing I wasn’t prepared for. This wasn’t supposed to work, y’know?” he noted. “There’s 150 guys that are just like me, except more talented, and they probably deserve to be out here. It’s a fluke.” And maybe because Efron considers his success “a fluke,” he’s sought out advice from his elder peers, like 34-year-old Leonardo DiCaprio. “I thought I was gonna ask him questions,” Efron said of their meeting. “He ended up asking me questions, and in that, he told me a lot. He said, ‘There’s one way that you can really fuck this all up. Just do heroin. If you steer clear of that — the other obstacles you’ll be able to navigate.’ And that makes sense, dude.”
Yeah, yeah … as interesting as all of that is, I think folks might be more interested to see the photos from Zac‘s GQ photospread (tho, Leonardo DiCaprio‘s advice is pretty funny). After the jump, check them out (yes, he is shirtless in at least one of them) …

Yes, the photos are more interesting than the interview. Tho, I must commend the lad for being very smart about his fame. I’m sure it’s very easy (and tempting) to want to live it up and party hard when you are famous enough to get everything you want. The fact that Zac is thinking long-term is impressive. While I don’t feel that he is particularly talented to any significant degree (ie. I’ve not seen him in anything that has impressed me), I think he’s on the right track to carve out a successful career … and will have many opportunities to impress. I look forward to seeing if he can actually pull it off … in the meantime, I’ll be just fine with the shirtless photos.

Trent…I can’t believe you missed out on your “beeyotch stole my look” for the front cover photo.
JIMMY NEUTRON, anyone??
He is such a tiny guy!! I like them bigger to be honest!!
I find his interview incredibly contrived and photy and even the journalist picked up on it. He just comes as a media-trained performing chimp. I’m not impressed and i dont think i will ever be, until the posing stops and the makeup goes. He looks like a doll.
I agree with you Liz~ and i don’t even think his relationship with VH is real…i’ve never bought them as a couple..it’s all for show
[...] Zac Efron is everywhere! [...]
[...] Zac Efron is everywhere! Love Tetris? How ’bout Tetris furniture? [...]
I guess I just don’t get it. What is with this dude? He seems like he’s made out of plastic.
@Anne if his relationship with Vanessa wasn’t real, why wouldn’t he have brought her up in the interview? If it was all for publicity, he would discuss her in depth. He doesn’t because he sees their relationship as sacred and between two people. Zac would get a lot more attention if he was one of those guys who discussed her all of the time or if he were single and he is neither. They’ve been dating since 2005; and there is tons of evidence not shown directly to the public that proves as much.
what a GIANT head.
He looks like a weird paperdoll with an enormous head in that picture. I am glad I am not 17 and expected to adore him. Ewww
I guess I’m not the only one to notice his giant head!
This is like, the worst Photoshop job ive ever scene. His head TOTALLY does not match with his body. Was he even at this photoshoot? Odd. Someone at GQ should have their ass kicked for allowing this photo on the cover. I guess im not the only one creeped out about this.
*sings* big head in a little coaaat
His head is way too big for his body. I think they had a photoshop malfunction!
is it me or does his head look disproportionate to his body?
Why is his head so LARGE!
@Anne and Liz, if his relationship with Vanessa isn’t real, then their sex obviously is…
LOL Kat & Robin! ;;-)
I honestly don’t get what people see in this guy. He’s not very attractive and he’s way too effeminate. To each their own I suppose.
