The New Cast Of ‘Skins’ Does ‘Nylon’ Magazine
The third season of Skins, which featured an entirely new cast from the first two seasons of the show, may already be finished in the UK but the season is scheduled to air here in the US on BBC America sometime soon. So, to prepare, Nylon magazine is featuring some of the new cast in a feature in their new issue in order to introduce the new kids to the US audience:

Nylonmag.com posted an interview online with some of the new cast but it has mysteriously been taken down for some unknown reason. While we wait for it to come back, let’s check out a few photos of some of the individual castmembers — including Kaya Scodelario, Luke Pasqualino, Lily Loveless and Ollie Barbieri — which you can see after the jump …

As you may recall, Skins won the Phillips Audience Award at the 2009 BAFTA Awards over the weekend … an honor that I feel is much deserved. While some viewers may not feel the same affinity for the new cast as they did for the old cast, I have to say that I love both casts pretty equally. I found the third season of Skins wholly entertaining and I loved every single episode. For me, the show works so well because of the great writing and the amazing character development. I simply could not wait to see the eps on BBC America so I watched them online … it was really a great season. While I would love for Skins to take the US by storm, I don’t think it will ever happen … which is fine with me. I like being in “the know” and can enjoy the show even tho the rest of the country is unaware of what they’re missing.

Where are the twins?
I kind of hate them, but I kind of love them too.

So I’d like to be in the “know” and I’ve heard a lot of random tidbits about the show, but what is it about? Hopefully I’ll be able to catch on BBC.

@Diana — it’s really a fantastic show … the drama is over-the-top but the writing is really great. it’s kinda like gossip girl on acid. it’s smart and very entertaining. the first two seasons are airing on BBC America (Dev Patel from Slumdog Millionaire was on the show), you should watch those eps first.

@EmCee — I know, I wish the twins where in the photoshoot, too. I love them!

SKINS IS SOOOOOO GOOD!!
Better than GOSSIP GIRL or any other teen show out there (or prolly even ever). Some of my friends thought that was crazy talk but after watching the first few episodes, they were hooked! They now agree that it’s better than anything else.
: )

Skins is the best show on television. Hands down. I, too, couldn’t wait and watched every episode online about 6 hours after it originally came on in the UK. I’m so ready to watch it all again.

I really want to see this show. I am excited to finally check it out. It has some high expectations.

OMG OMG OMG I love love love SKINS. I first read about the serious on Trent website and thought that it looked really intresting so I started watching the episodes online and then on BBC. I was addicted, so when I heard that the 3rd season was coming out I had to look for it online and BOOM I found all the episodes and I enjoyed watching each of them over and over again. I like both cast, they are very different but its a good thing that they change it up a bit. Im sure after the 4th season that they will bring in another whole new cast and i’ll probably like them equally as well….GOOD for Skins to win a award its a very good good show…well done

LOVE this show! Love Kaya too :)
@Gaby.. according to an interview with the 2nd cast, none of them have yet signed on for another season! Eeps!
I am in Skins withdrawl right now.. sigh…

Trent,
you’re not that cool. stop acting like you’re the only or the first person to ‘know’ things… cause you aren’t.
I’ve enjoyed your blog for much of the past 5 years, but you’re getting ridiculous and turning into a pretentious piece of LA trash… don’t forget your roots and stop coming off like you’re better than everyone else or that you’re the voice of ‘what’s cool’ for this generation. it’s becoming unbearable.
Thanks,
N

@LULU…I saw a interview with Kaya who plays Effy and she mentioned that they will start shooting the next season in July…so I hope everyone signed on…they’d be stupid if they didnt!!! right?

Wow, “N” – Why don’t you stop being a sodding wanker and calm the F down? LOL. I just had to respond British-like.
I LOVE SKINS!!! I’m finishing S2 now and I’m soo psyched to start this one. Keep preaching the underrated goodness, Trent!

I’m so obsessed with Skins now, and only because of you! I had no idea about it until your post introducing the new characters for season 3. Thanks Trent!
April 28th, 2009 at 2:54 pm
god i wish skins would air on a major network like nbc or fox here, but america is too prude! this show is what american audiences are missing, a true portrayal of how teenage life is! i love how skins doesnt use 20-something models to portray high schoolers like on gossip girl, because thats not what real people look like. thanx so much trent for getting me into this show, im obsessed! i watch it on bootleg websites hahaha

I JUST WANNA WARN YOU GUYS THAT SEASON 3 PALES IN COMPARISON TO THE FIRST 2 SEASONS. IT ALMOST SUCKS SO BAD.
April 28th, 2009 at 4:59 pm
syaz.. I respectfully disagree.
@Gaby.. That’s great! I can relax now knowing there will be a 4th season…
@N… Wow… want a percocet?
April 28th, 2009 at 5:01 pm
Just thinking out loud here…
But I REALLY hope they somehow squeeze a bit of Cassie into season 4.. It would be awesome to see her again…
April 28th, 2009 at 7:09 pm
Please don’t compare Skins to Gossip Girl.
And don’t miss the webisodes accompanying each ep, though they’ve gotten slack for the third season; there aren’t as many webisodes as for the first generation time round.
But watch them! Maxxie’s romance story is too cute!
April 28th, 2009 at 10:40 pm
@Lulu
Another Cassie lover I see =] I will always love her character she was just beautiful I’m quite sure Hannah went to Uni to do an English degree though so I’m doubtful she will return.
@Trent
Skins would be completely ruined if it became huge I think that people like it so much because the actors themselves are just likable kids who were going to high school most have never acted before and most will fade into obscurity after it’s finished (well there is Dev). It’s not fake Hollywood it’s effortlessly cool, if you put a huge star in the cast or gave it a mammoth budget it would just distract from the amazing writing.

i love skins!! season one and two were amazing, i was so upset that they took out the whole cast (except effy and pandora). but i have seen a bit of season 3, and i like it!

April 29th, 2009 at 7:15 am
Skins is soo freaking AWESOME!! I love the new cast just as much as the old cast but there will always be a place in my heart for Tony from season 1 :)
April 29th, 2009 at 8:07 am
hannah (who played cassie) is at cambridge. she’s doing community theatre etc.. and she’s said in interviews she’ll continue with acting, but i doubt she’ll do skins again.
.
i hope the guy that plays tony doesnt fade into obscurity!
April 29th, 2009 at 8:14 am
Oh how i love skins!
i love cook, idk why, but i love him.
April 29th, 2009 at 10:06 am
i hope trent fades into obscurity. the sooner the better. ;)

If you like Skins I have a feeling you may also like “The Inbetweeners”. It’s created by the same channel and is possibly one of the funniest shows I have ever seen in my life.
