In just over a month’s time, Rihanna plans to make her return to the concert stage when she plans to perform a show in Dubai on May 28th. This performance will be her first since she was allegedly assaulted on February 8 by her then-boyfriend Chris Brown:

Rihanna is gearing up for a live return. The pop star is reportedly set to perform in Dubai on May 28, according E! News. “There will be over 25,000 tickets available,” a spokesperson for Dubai Tourism told E! “They will be going on sale in a couple of days.” Rihanna was forced to cancel her appearance at the Grammys on February 8 after an alleged beating by then-boyfriend, Chris Brown, just hours before. She also canceled dates in Malaysia and Jakarta following the incident. Brown pleaded not guilty to felony assault and making criminal threats on April 7 in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Smart move on Ri Ri‘s part. Apparently she’s ready to get back on the horse, so to speak, and perform in front of a live audience but clearly she is not ready to do so here in the US. It makes perfect sense that Rihanna would get her feet wet again by doing a one-off show on the other side of the world … that way she can ease herself back into performing without the intense scrutiny that would come from a big (or even a small) performance here in the States. I’m encouraged to hear that she is feeling up to performing again. Irregardless of what happens with Chris Brown‘s felony charges, Rihanna is going to have to get her life back on track whether he is prosecuted and possibly convicted or if he is let off the hook. No matter the outcome, she will need to get her career going again. I wish her luck and much success. It’s just a shame that she’s returning to the the performance stage under such unfortunate circumstances. I’m pretty confident that she’ll be back in top form in no time.
