‘People’ Magazine Selects The ‘100 Most Beautiful People’ Of 2009
It is time again for People magazine to release their annual 100 Most Beautiful People issue and this year they have selected actress and breast cancer survivor Christina Applegate to grace the cover of the issue. Christina herself credits her man Martyn Lenoble for her beauty and talks about how his love for her is what makes her beauty shine. Here is the cover of the 100 Most Beautiful People issue of People magazine and a short piece on Christina’s beauty:

She has an “angel” of a boyfriend, Dutch bass player Martyn Lenoble, “who loves me from head to toe.” She has a cozy Malibu beach house that she calls “the best thing I’ve ever done for myself.” And, after a very public battle with breast cancer that has given her a gratifying “feeling of purpose,” Christina Applegate has a new lease on life. “I used to be really shy but I started to come into my own in my late 20s and early 30s,” Applegate, 37, tells PEOPLE in the cover interview for the annual Most Beautiful issue – her first interview since her reconstructive breast surgery last November. “Now I’m not afraid to speak up in a room full of people and be a part of the conversation.” The Samantha Who? star says she’s finding balance and embracing her body after undergoing a double mastectomy in July. “You have to get through the physical transformations then buck up, go to work and try to be the normal, happy Christina for everyone around you,” she says. One source of strength has been Lenoble. “He’s been a friend for about 13 years,” Applegate says. “Our relationship gets stronger and stronger. I’m really lucky.” And, more importantly, he makes the actress feel “beautiful” about her new body. “I’m very grateful to Martyn for coming along at a time that he did because he’s been my rock through all of this,” Applegate says. “He gave me something to really want to live for and something to smile about.”
Considering the life-changing effect that enduring a double mastectomy has on a woman, I am very impressed with Christina’s attitude about her beauty (which is on full display in this issue of People magazine). I, for the life of me, cannot imagine what it must be like to survive a bout with cancer so my hat is off to her in that respect. I suppose congrats are in order for being named by People magazine as one of the 100 Most Beautiful People. But, there are 99 other folks who have been deemed beautiful by People — after the jump, check out a few of those pretty faces …

There is no denying that each one of these people is beautiful but I gotta question the selection choice of some of these photos. The 90210 girls were photographed without make-up (on purpose) but the photo is set in the harsh beach sun which makes each of the young girls look haggard. Also, I think the mag could’ve selected better photos of Robert Pattinson and Michelle Obama. Each one of them is incredibly beautiful and, yet, these photos in my opinion do not showcase their beauty at all. I do love the photo of Kristen Wiig and, of course, Tristan Wilds and Zac Efron both look supercute. I know the People magazine list of the 100 Most Beautiful People is meant to be fun and I think they generally get it right … but what do you think? Who would YOU have selected for the cover of this mag?

I love Christina Applegate – she’s great and I’m glad she is still finding success in the business!

She’s been my favorite since ‘Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead’

I hadn’t realised how beautiful Michelle Obama was until this picture I agree with you about the Robert Pattinson picture though.

Woah…the 90210 girls look tore up! lol

I agree about Rob’s picture. He is a truly gorgeous guy, but this picture doesn’t do him a bit of justice. The one on the cover of the mag is 10 times better. What were they thinking?

@ tiffany, diff agree. i seriously had no clue who they were, i thought they were some older women.
i also didn’t recognize kristen wig but thats a cute photo

I’ve always thought Christina Applegate was beautiful. I think they got it right by putting her on the cover for 2009. I totally agree with you about the Michelle Obama and Robert Pattinson photos. They both deserve to be on the list (in my opinion), but those pictures really don’t do them justice at all.
I don’t think the 90210 picture is that bad. I mean, if they can manage to look gorgeous in the blinding sun of the beach, then they can pretty much look beautiful anywhere.
I’m not a fan of the Zac Efron picture, though.

where’s Britney?
I think she deserve at least something? =)

The 90210 girls ALWAYS look tore up, in my opinion. Paired with their horrible acting on that horrible remake, I don’t get how they even made the list.

@Ben — there are 100 people on the list, i only posted a few pics. i’m not sure if she made the issue or not.

I am happy they picked Christina. At first I thought that was a little strange because she is pretty but just not what I had in mind. After reading her interview she 100% deserves it!!

ew…michelle is a fugster.
April 29th, 2009 at 9:37 am
also, why do the 90210 girls look like they are 40?
April 29th, 2009 at 11:41 am
Yuck! All of these pictures look horrible :( And the Michelle Obama just scares me…
April 29th, 2009 at 11:44 am
The girls from 90210 all look 40 with make up on anyway, but this just makes them look like rough 40 year olds.
When are girls going to realize that getting too skinny just makes you look gaunt and haggard?
That isn’t a great picture of Michelle Obama, but she is a gorgeous woman with a lot of class and poise.

Michelle Obama beautiful? Really?? Eh..To each his own..I LOVE that picture of Kristen Wiig!!
April 29th, 2009 at 1:49 pm
Ugh not good pictures of either Michelle or Rob :/
April 29th, 2009 at 2:14 pm
Michelle Obama is a beautiful woman, but this picture does not do her any justice whatsoever. As for the 90210 girls the magazine has a few celebrities who take pictures with no makeup and I think they were one of the few who had a no makeup shoot.
April 29th, 2009 at 5:27 pm
MICHELLE OBAMA?! ummm….EWWW! She’s many positive things, but BEAUTIFUL? NO.
April 29th, 2009 at 5:34 pm
OK so… let me guess, they’re selecting Michelle Obama just because she’s the first black lady? If it was Hilary Clinton, I wonder if they would select her. hah! This is ridiculous.

Michelle Obama looks awful in that picture.
As for the 90210 girls, I actually think Shenae Jessica Lowndes (Adrianna) look naturally beautiful even without makeup.
Annalynne and Jessica Stroup look ROUGH. Sorry girls :(
On the show (with makeup) I think Silver & Adrianna are the prettiest so I was surprised Stroup looks so bad without makeup.
Annalynne never looks good to me, she looks like a fish.
April 29th, 2009 at 6:03 pm
Whoops that should say Shenea AND Jessica Lowndes
April 29th, 2009 at 6:17 pm
I’m just glad PARIS wasn’t on the cover!! Plus, I think Christina is very pretty.
April 29th, 2009 at 11:02 pm
dang 90210 girls look rough. they should’ve chosen gossip girl instead
April 30th, 2009 at 5:00 am
definetely britney. she’s missing.
April 30th, 2009 at 5:43 am
I feel like I’m the only one up in arms they chose this woman who overcame cancer & then has been photographed smoking cigarettes all over the place. What a moron! I have absolutely zero admiration for her whatsoever!
April 30th, 2009 at 10:36 am
chuck..that’s because you ARE the only one.
Stop judging cancer survivors.
April 30th, 2009 at 11:32 pm
Um – Ms Applegate should NOT have been named in this.
She had a double mastectomy and is STILL SMOKING!!
THAT is not a role model – thats a horror show.

If this is physical beauty we’re talking about, it doesnt make sense for Michelle Obama to be included in it. She just is not beautiful. She may be the first black first lady but that isn’t synonymous to beauty. At all.
