Nicole Richie Is Married?
Or is she just being cheeky?
Pink reader Oga and I caught an interesting tweet (message) from Nicole Richie that she posted on her official Twitter profile last night (and is currently her most recent one) that gave all of her followers the head’s up that her “sister-in-law” Sarah Madden has joined Twitter and that everyone should follow her:

Sarah Madden is Joel Madden‘s little sister … so does this mean that Nicole and Joel are married (???) or does it mean that Nicole is just being a cheeky monkey by calling Sarah her sister-in-law just cuz she and Joel are together? I suppose it’s possible that Nic/Joel secretly got married but would Nicole really accidentally spill the beans on her Twitter account? HMMMM.

I noticed this slip last night, too. I think you should ask Nicole on Twitter. I’m sure everyone has already asked her.
I was wondering which blog was going to catch that first! lmao trent, use your reporting skills and get to the bottom of this asap! ^.^
and nicole is known for pulling pranks and stuff. or maybe they did get hitched and dont care who they keep it from. multiple places have, including joel himself have refered to nicole as his wife
But two or three days ago Joel call her “girlfriend”…
You don’t have to be married to someone to call his sister “sister-in-law”, do you?
Besides… who cares? They’re happy together, and that’s all that matters!
@Ann — the “in-law” part means that a legal marriage took place. and i don’t think anyone is disparaging her, just taking notice of what she said and discussing.
I noticed this too.
But Nicole recently said in the media she isnt engaged and if marriage happens then it happens.
So i think it is just Nicole with her quirky personality saying “sister in law.”
Nic and Joel are basically married so it makes sense to say sister in law, rather than boyfriends sister – daughters aunt! xx
Oh, I know, I didn’t mean to sound like I was attacking someone… sorry if that was what it looked like!
wow.. i have her on my twitter and i totally didn’t even catch that! i call my brother’s long-time gf my sister-in-law so perhaps she’s just saying it? if she is, well good for her! she strikes me as the type that would have a wedding that isn’t publicized so that she can enjoy it without pretense!
Naw. I call my bothers girlfriend my sister in law as well and they aren’t married, but they have a daughter together too. The baby thing probably has something to do with it. I feel closer to my bros girlfriend because of my niece. I doubt Nicole ‘s married.
I used to always called my boyfriends family my in-laws even though we weren’t married yet. I guess when you’re with someone for so long, their family pretty much is already yours so why not call them that? It’s probably easier than saying, “my boyfriend’s sister”.
I don’t think they’re married. I had a friend who had been with her boyfriend for years and she always referred to him as her “hubby” even though they weren’t married. I suspect they’ve just been together long enough where she feels like she is a part of the family.
i wouldnt read to much into it. i call my brothers gf my sister in law. shes pretty much family. i could see why nicole would say it. having a kid with joel and everything probably makes her feel like a sister in law.
Who cares?
I don’t think they’re married yet, but if they are, power to them for keeping that under wraps.
I call my older brother’s girlfriend my sister-in-law, they’ve been together for 11 years. We’re extremely close and this is probably the same for Nicole and Joel’s sister. They may be real close…. I mean she is her daughter’s aunt you know?
I call my boyfriends family my inlaws. I think this is very common, what else is she going to say? My boyfriends sister? I think it is appropriate she called her sister-in-law as they are quite close.
i called my sis-in-law… just that before she was married to my brother -in-law. i see nothing wrong with it.
@aimie — no one has once said there is “anything wrong with it”.
yea…i totally call my boyfriends parents my in laws and his sis my sister in law. When I read that tweet i thought about it for a sec. I don’t necessarily think she’s pulling a prank, but just talking like I would. it would be awesome if they were married and no one knew about it though! Sneaky Sneaky!
i called my brother’s girlfriend my sister-in-law because they had my nephew and were ‘practically’ married… so whatever.
that’s cute :)
is that my actual screen shot!? omg…best day of my life.
