16 year old Miley Cyrus appears on The Rachael Ray Show today and in her interview reveals to Ray‘s television audience that her relationship with 20 year old underwear model Justin Gaston has brought her closer to “the Lord”. Yeah, I’ve seen the lad in his undies and I can TOTALLY identify. BUT, Miley goes on to clarify that it is Justin‘s religiousness that has brought her closer to God rather than anything else. Additionally, Miley also confesses that she has made a miraculous discovery at her local CVS Pharmacy … the do-it-yourself hair coloring aisle:
Miley Cyrus says she’s gotten much holier since she started hanging out with her God-fearing underwear-model squeeze Justin Gaston. “I’ve never been closer to the Lord since I met him,” she says on on the “Rachael Ray” show that airs Friday. “He’s really made me read my Bible.” We’d have to agree with Miley about feeling all holy roller. Because every time we see Justin, we say to ourselves, “Oh, thank heavens!” Far more alarming is the news that Miley has learned how color her own hair. “I’m going to save so much money, you have no idea!” she tells Ray. “I’m pretty proud of myself. Dude, if it’s going to be between $8 and $800 … it’s a good idea.” OMG, this is so not going to be pretty.
Now see … I’m trying to picture in my head the image of Jiley dying her hair in the bathroom sink and then cuddling up on the couch to read the Bible together … all before Miley climbs in to bed to sleep with her parents. I suspect that chipmunks and baby deer come to frolic on her front lawn and birds and small mice do all the chores around the house. Heh, JG might actually get Miley closer to God but I’m sure he does so in more ways than one.

you have got to be kidding me! honestly i watched it today and she was so innocent like it these kind of things that are the real messed up things…she is 16 so what if she has an older bf…..we are all fighting the fight of love is love no matter religion or color or gender so why should we badger her over having an older bf….love isnt about that…love is about if he makes her happy and they are meant for each other if thats what they want IT IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS.
you completly misinterreted the entire show and if someone didnt see it they would totally believe you. she was totally innocent in saying what she said to rach about her bf and obvs billy is not going to allow anything to hurt her or her business, i think you need to back off of her for a little. she is a teen trying to grow up…i dont know how she does it.

I agree with Victoria, I don’t think this is a case of abuse, this girl knows -and knows it very well- what she is doing; I don’t think Justin is taking any sort of advantage of her. The risk the law talks about when it comes to this sort of relationship is that the older person is taking advantage because the minor does not know what he/she is doing. I don’t think it is the case here. And nowadays u can pretty much say that a girl of 16 is basically on the same page a guy of 20 is, guys are so immature.
It is kind of different when u have a 30 year old guy dating a 18 year old, totally different worlds and they are obviously not going to want the same things. But I dated a guy who was 23 when I was 17 and we were both on the same page, he was studying and I was planning my career, he used to give me advised and when I started college we would study together. I don’t know. They seem to be on the same page.
And regarding sex, lets not fool ourselves, we know there are tons of girls out there that are having sex way before turning 18, and they have a lot more information and know how to take care of themselves than girls did 20 years ago. Times have change, and as long as we as parents accompany this events with information and support, it shouldn’t be an issue. Otherwise they are going to do it behind our backs and with lots of risks.

I find it a little sad that you’ve become so jaded by celebrity pop culture that you can’t even conceive that she could be sincere. I live in Nashville and happen to know a lot of people in similar relationships that are exactly what they claim to be…coming from the Bible-belt it really is a lifestyle a lot of people believe in.
I’m not in any place to say what the exact nature of Miley and Justin’s relationship is, its actually their personal business and certainly not ours…but even if there is “more” to it than they claim, it doesn’t mean the move closer to God is a lie…The Bible itself doesn’t actually address pre-marital sex directly ( or age-appropriate sex for that matter)…look it up yourself!

I have no problem with their age difference. When I was 20 there was a girl of 16 I liked and it was only circumstance that we didn’t wind up going out. When I was 17 the girl I hung out with was 27. No big deal. As a poster above said, laws are rightfully made to protect people and there is no indication that Miley needs protecting from Justin. Additionally, it is only due to the puritanical nature of this country that 16 year old sex is illegal anywhere (in most states 16 is perfectly legal) — the rest of the free world sets the age of consent at 16 or lower with the understanding that it is not up to others’ to dictate with whom a person can have a romantic/sexual relationship so long as no party is being taken advantage of.
@ alexggb, I find your 30/18 thing wierd… was that a Halo stab? I’m in my late twenties and I’d date a girl who is 18… and I’d date a girl who is 38. And if we don’t have a connection on the first date, then we won’t have a second. That is all. I’m equally attracted to Emma Watson and Rachel Weisz… one’s personality is probably too young for me, the other’s probably too old (and married) but you date a person, not a number.
All of that said, Miley does REALLY annoy me. I doubt she will be famous at 25, which is kinda sad in some respects — that her best days are almost sure to be at such a young age. I hope she is taking steps to have a fulfilling life post-stardom. But, sympathy aside… this girl REALLY annoys me. It annoys me that she equates being a good person with a specifc religious faith, and it annoys me that she has no talent and yet appears everywhere you turn.

I think thats just a christian phrase, “bring me closer to God.” Because I went to christian high school and that was what my home ec. class taught to find someone that brings you closer to God, i.e. someone that will make you love God more and more. So its kindof weird to hear that people think of sex when they hear that, cuz this is the first time I’ve ever heard it interpreted that way.
