Never a pair to shy away from causing a scene, newlyweds Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt (who were married in a legal ceremony for the MTV cameras in Pasadena, CA last weekend) were forced to cut short their honeymoon to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico for fear of the spreading swine flu or H1N1 virus that is plaguing the country there. Making their grand arrival at LAX Airport while wearing surgical masks last night, Speidi made sure to pose for the cameras as they made their way thru the sea of paparazzi:

Only Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt would think to turn the threat of a flu pandemic into a publicity-seeking photo opportunity. The stars of The Hills, who will really stop at nothing to get attention from the paparazzi, put on a ridiculous display of affection as they touched down at Los Angeles airport yesterday. The pair kissed each other – through surgical masks – the moment they clapped eyes on a waiting pack of photographers. They had just flown in from a brief honeymoon in swine flu-hit Mexico, where Heidi also recorded a music video for her single Sex Ed. Heidi wrote on Twitter that she was ‘so sad to leave Mexico,’ but ‘ready to get out of pig flu country!’ Spencer told radio host Ryan Seacrest earlier this week that they were “definitely wearing face masks everywhere”. He added: “I’m not playing – I’m not trying to get pig flu. We’re in isolation, we’re in full hiding.” Well, not exactly. They did enjoy a beach stroll especially for the paparazzi.

Uh, yeah, THESE photos show that the couple were not in hiding and were happy to take thier little show to the beaches of Cabo San Lucas for a little more publicity. Did I ever occur to anyone that Mexico just decided to expel them back to the US to keep the infestation to a minimum? Just a guess. In any event, Speidi did managed to pull their masks down far enough so that they could exchange some of their own germs between them:

So now … whatever they’ve got individually they now share together. Fitting, no?
