Here is our first look at the new poster advertisement for the May 11th ep of Gossip Girl which will feature a significant flashback to the 80′s so that we can get our first look at how wild child Lily van der Woodsen (nee Lily Rhodes) reached her station in life:
The ep will also serve to introduce the characters that will be featured in the upcoming as-yet untitled Gossip Girl spin-off series that will focus on the young Lily and her dramatic life before the events of Gossip Girl take place. On the one hand, I’m kinda looking forward to a TV series that is set in the 80s but I have the bad feeling that it might be too soon to spin-off a show from GG already. Of course, we’ll have to wait and see what the spin-off looks like to judge whether or not it’s worth watching but … I dunno. This new ep will be a pretty good indicator of what’s to come in the new ep. I’m really looking forward to seeing this taste of the spin-off. I’ll reserve judgment ’til then. I will say, tho, that this poster of Lily‘s mugshot is pretty brills. If anything, it does make me want to see more of the character’s wild ways.

Totally Agree Lauren! I don’t buy it either. Lily is a classic beauty and Snow is more of the bomshell look. I just think this could be really bad. and I Loveeee GG

I totally agree -might be too soon for a spin-off… and I gotta say, I’m not really into this poster. The copy is totally cheesy (clearly not written by Josh Schwartz!!!) and the outfit seems like something an 18 year old in 2009 would think people in the ’80s would wear ;)

I heard that Josh Schwartz is considering bringing in two of the former OC characters (Kirsten and Jimmy) and having their young romance played out on the show as well. I think that would be awesome.

The poster says that the spin-off is called “Valley Girls”, so it’s not really untitled anymore.

@Shannon — the prequel is set in California in the 80′s, where Lily lived when she was younger. ‘Valley Girls’ is also the name of an 80′s movie.

Actually the 80′s movie in question is entitled Valley Girl ( without the s) starring a young Nick Cage( coppola at that time). I totally agree with whoever said the poster looks like something a teen from today would come up with , based on what they think people wore in the 80′s, look at the hair, that is NOT 80′s, they totally need to come across an old Teen Beat, some aqua net and a rat comb and tease that hair, lol( or just look up the 1980′s on google and youtube and get a good idea), I was just a little kid in the 80′s but damnit I remember what everyone was wearing and nobody had their hair in those layers( nobody started wearing their hair like that until Jen Aniston started that style in the 90′s). I hope that pic is supposed to be after prom or some Gawd Awful 1986 prom b/c that’s the only way anyone from that period would have been wearing that loud shiznit( Im trying to stop cursing so much folks)
