Jet Lag
The TV Guide

Today is a pretty quiet, muted day … which is nice considering how crappy I feel from yesterday’s travels. For the most part, the flight from NYC to LA was pretty standard but we were treated to an almost 2-hour delay on the tarmac before take-off which made the overall flight feel really uncomfortable. On the plus side, I got to read a few issues of The New Yorker on my lovely Kindle 2 in addition to watching all my Tuesday night TV on the plane. I was very excited for Donna Martin‘s return on 90210 last night but the ep itself sucked. I don’t recall the writing on the show being so atrocious … but I found last night’s writing particularly horrible. The acting was just as poor. It’s kinda sad to see Diablo Cody go from the Academy Awards to this … I was just so disappointed:

If I were a new fan and last night was the first ep of 90210 that I watched I doubt I’d ever watch again. I’m hoping the show gets better but, really, last night’s ep was painful.

I’m happy to report that Tax Day is a much less painful one for me this year … careful planning by my tax dudes prepared me for a good day this year. So … I’m pretty much carefree these days :)

David and I are gearing up for our two Britney Spears shows tomorrow and Sunday but today, well, I think we’re lying low so we can regroup and settle in our home again.

The Dr. Pepper product placement was also awkward and crappy

  2. kiddo says:

the show pretty much sucks. It’s no Gossip Girl.

  3. Joanne says:

Wow Trent – We must have got 90210 hot off the satellite here in NZ! – I watched that episode last night … I agree, the writing was just terrible! The young actors *nervous*. They took away all of Diablo’s ‘cutting edge’ personality (she’s so quick witted on Twitter) … it could have been great. Tori & Jennie were fab, but seeing them together reminded me of how great the ‘Beverly’ version really was.

  4. Joanne says:

beth – that’s exactly what hit me! They may as well have paused what they were doing and did an ad ‘Waynes World’ style in that car LOL

  5. Brenda says:

I agree, last night’s episode was atrocious from the ridiculous ad placement of Dr Pepper to bad writing to the much too obvious plots.

This is the frist 90210 ep I’ve seen since this particular series began last fall (?). As a kid I watched the original all the time. SO – that said, I liked it! It wasn’t as nauseating as I had expected it to be. The Dr. Pepper thing just made me laugh…it was so not smooth and I just thought it was funny. Just like the new Verizon phone on Gossip Girl made me laugh. Lighten up e’erybody! It’s a SOAP OPERA

Can we delete Dannys post? Its a waste of time to read.
The Dr Pepper product placement was awful. I wanted them to pause, hold the can to the screen and smile. They weren’t far off from doing that.
It was great, poor acting aside, to see Donna and Kelly back together. Old 90210 fo’life! :)

  8. Katie says:

    You read my mind! :)

  9. beth says:

I know the show is bad, but I still can’t help but watch it – it’s so bad, it’s good as far as I’m concerned

I watched this show for the first time last night (random you said that Trent) and I thought it was HORRIBLE! The whole scene with the two guys soul searching about the inner eye..GAG. The DR. P scene was so sad and the acting was horrible. The whole Japenese talk from Donna was way over done “not to mention Donna only knew Juno from that Prego Gril”. It was so dumb. I will NEVER watch this show again!!

  11. Splacer says:

“It wouldn’t be a road trip without Dr. Pepper!” Blech.
It reminded me of when they started pimping out Clearasil on Degrassi Jr. High.

I have watched my last episode of 90210. I kept watching in hopes that the it would live up to the original. It hasn’t.

  12. Stacy says:

Oh! Have fun at Britney! I am going to see her in Vegas next weekend. I am getting so excited.

  13. SuziLee says:

Sweet Jeeeeeeeeeeeesus this show f’ing suuuuuuucked last night!!! The acting was bad! The story line BAD – just completely blew. Idk wtf happened if all the writers like died in a plane crash or something but…. it has gone wayyyy down hill!!!

  14. Lisa says:

Last night’s ep was HORRIBLE. Each storyline was so dumb. Even when Liam grabs Naomi to kiss it’s not written well…LOL

Just dumb dumb dumb – horrible.
I am so sad at the turn 90210 new version has taken :(

I’ve never been a fan of Donna Martin on the show so maybe that’s why – she just acts goofy and Tori is NOT a good actress. She’s much more tolerable on her reality shows.

  15. kat says:

Thank God I wasn’t the only one who thought that. I was all excited to see it and my friend who never watches it wanted to see what I was excited about….THEN IT SUCKED BAD! I was so embaressed swearing this was the worst it has been EVER. lol. UGH

  16. Vada says:

Gotta tell you, I’m disappointed to read that you’re using your Kindle with what’s occurring these days with Amazon.

  17. Jordan says:

Last night might not have been great, but I think last weeks episode was excellent. I wont stop watching any time soon.

  18. la princesa says:

Dude, I expected more of a synopsis for the big Donna/Kelly reunion! I do not get the CW! Help a sister out!! :)

  19. B says:

I have always found Diablo Cody to be such a bore. Her Entertainment Weekly articles are such a snooze-fest. She strikes me as the growing-older person who is trying too hard to remain hip and cool….*yawn* Rather fitting for her to be appearing on 90210.

trent, having seen britney on this tour, i can’t wait to read your review and see what you thought. this was the first time i saw her so i had nothing to compare it to. i know you’ve seen her so i wanna see how it compares to her past tours in your opinion.
