Jessica Simpson DROPPED By Her Record Label
As soon as Jessica Simpson’s name was noticeably removed from the websites of Sony Music Nashville and Columbia Nashville, blogs started buzzing that she had been dropped by her Country Music label … and it turns out that that’s exactly what happened. While Simpson’s PR person is trying to spin the story by saying that Jessica was only “on loan” to the Country Music label, the result is the same … she is no longer with Sony Music Nashville. She’s been canned, y’all:
Looks like Jessica Simpson’s country crooning days are over. The singer, 28, is no longer with the Sony Nashville label, her rep confirms to Usmagazine.com. Earlier today, blogs were abuzz that Simpson was dropped from the label after her name was noticeably missing from both the Columbia Nashville and Sony Music Nashville websites. Simpson also skipped Sunday’s Academy of Country Music Awards, even though she announced the nominees earlier this year. But the singer’s rep tells Us, “She was on loan to Sony Nashville for her country album.” Simpson, who has released pop albums on the Epic label, “is and has always been an Epic artist,” her rep adds. “She continues to be on Epic’s label.” Although Simpson’s country debut, Do You Know, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard country charts, it only sold 172,876 copies as of February. Simpson also struggled as she opened for Rascal Flatts this year, often flubbing lines or forgetting lyrics altogether. (It didn’t help that critics seemed to focus more on her weight gain than her singing.)
It seems clear to me that if Jessica Simpson had been a successful Country Music artist, she would not have been dropped by the label — but the “loan” excuse is a good one. It remains to be seen if this setback will result in the end of her career in Country Music but, to be honest, she really hasn’t had much success with any aspect of her music career. Well, at least she has acting to fall back on … er, tho, she hasn’t had much success there either. HMMM … what else is Jessica Simpson good at … does anyone know? Mebbe if that little thing can get figured out then she can plan her next step. One thing’s for sure, State Fairs and Hot Dog Eating contests are sure gonna be lonely in the foreseeable future without Jessica Simpson there to perform anymore :(

No offense Trent, but I found that last line a little rude. I know you’re joking and all but still. A little tactful. I wish everyone would get off Jessica Simpson’s back. Yes, she is ridiculous but I also find her positively ridiculous as well. She needs to fire her dad and get a good agent and manager. I think she should go back to pop and actually work with real producers and what not that can make her successful. She also needs to go get a voice coach because when she first came out her voice was amazing… and now it is pure mush. Some of it is her fault, though. Such as forgetting her own music and what not. I just feel bad for her in general.

its not surprising…you can only forget your lines so many times. i liked her country music, the sound sutied her more then pop. but im not gunna say its a loss.

Her clothing line and perfume are HUGE sellers!
I love her music and can’t wait to hear what she has coming next…whatever the genre may be!

I’m so glad to see people supporting Jessica on here. I think she is an awesome singer, great songwriter, and seems like a really nice person. I saw her in concert back in February, sat right next to the stage, and she can actually SING unlike other female “artists” nowadays (should I even mention Britney here? Please.) And she is beautiful and didn’t have to have her sh*t hanging out in concert to prove it. No, I didn’t care for her country stuff, but I don’t like country music anyway. She definitely has her place in the pop world. I wish everybody would get off her back too.

I’m not really a fan of her music but she does seem like a really sweet person and she does have singing talent….I think she needs to work on being taken more seriously…the ditzy blonde thing only goes so far.

I think as a celebrity Jessica puts herself out there to be praised or criticized so Trent is entitled to think whatever he wants about her talent or lack thereof. I think Jessica is pretty and she has a good voice but there’s just nothing that stands out about her musically. All her songs sort of sound the same. Britney may not have the best voice but she has stage presence and she has the ability to re-invent herself which is why she has more staying power than Jessica. I do feel kind of bad for her because things don’t seem to have been going her way for quite awhile…it’s ironic because she was the most successful when she was married to Nick Lachey and then ever since she divorced him everything has gone downhill for her! At least Ashlee won’t have to sing anymore songs about being stuck in Jessica’s shadow!

Her song “come on over” was a cute song, I wonder why it didn’t get more airplay. I’m a country fan and I rarely heard it on the radio. Also, no offense to her but she is dumb and that really hurts her because she does not do well in interviews. The country station where I am interviewed her and they wanted her to prove she loved country so they would play a clip of a country song and have her name it. There were 4 clips, in each clip was the name of the song. So the song would go “every mile a memory” and that would be the name of the song. Well she got them all wrong. Even after they gve her many hints to just listen to the words.

She has some cute handbags but I won’t buy them because they have her name plastered across them. But there are some styles that are seriously cute. And she has some cute shoes out there. Maybe she should focus on that.

Her shoe line is awesome! The most comfortable heels in the world. I like her handbags too. I think she has a real talent for that stuff. She is a great singer. I just think she hasn’t had very good songs to sing.

I personally can’t stand her, never could. I don’t wish bad things for her or anything, but I honestly believe she has nothing to offer musically whatsoever. Her affected way of singing is SO incredibly annoying, that you can’t even really tell what her voice sounds like anyway. I know she didn’t start out singing like that so I just feel like she’s a casualty of the Hollywood machine or something. She clearly has no idea who she is. Everything about her just is too fake and over the top for me. The 70’s hair, the fake tan, the crazy puffy lips, the ditzy routine – all of it. Every time people say how nice she seems or whatever, I wonder what they are basing it on. All I remember from that Newlywed show is how annoying and obnoxious she was and how she had no depth.
I know we’ve had a pattern of people becoming famous for doing basically nothing but somehow she epitomizes that more than anyone. I can tolerate someone like Paris Hilton because she owns who she is at least. Same with Nicole Ritchie, Lindsay Lohan and most other “It girls”. Jessica on the other hand seems to be striving for some kind of credibility and I find that kind of insulting. Because she has not gotten this far based on talent, she just had big boobs and a popular reality show. People who get famous like that are supposed to be a novelty so everything she has done since her 15 minutes has been up has tried my patience. I keep thinking just go away already!
Now Ashlee on the other hand actually seems like a real person to me. I liked her on her reality show and I’ve liked a bunch of her songs. She seems to know who she is at least, which goes a long way. Knowing who you are and what you want is what helps you make smart career decisions. If it’s true that Jessica’s clothing and make up lines are doing well, she should definitely stick with that and just stay away from performing.

LOL… that is too funny… how exactly do you get put out “on loan” to another label anyway? You loan out movies, clothes, cars, not people! Anyway I heard her country album and while it’s not too horrible I get why she wasn’t embraced by the Nashville set… Carrie Underwood she is not. I’m kinda done with her as a whole… I think she’s way over-hyped and comes off looking like an idiot. She needs to fire everyone and start from scratch and just be herself… then maybe people would like her more. Or at least those who aren’t Cowboys fans!

I’m a huge fan of her. Country music suits her well, but I liked her pop songs more. She has an incredible voice and can write great songs. But I don’t get it when she forgets her words so many times. Maybe the nerves or something. Her father should be fired, I think that would benifit Jessica. She should figure out what she wants from life. I wish her the best and I hope she keeps releasing records.
