Is Sarah Michelle Gellar Ready To Make A ‘Buffy’ Movie
OMG! This news is too good to be true … so I’m trying to hold off on the embarrassing celebrating but … just in case this report does turn out to be true, THIS WILL BE THE BEST NEWS EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! According to Showbiz Spy, Sarah Michelle Gellar is “in talks” to sign on for a Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie:
Sarah Michelle Gellar is reportedly in talks to reprise her role as Buffy the Vampire Slayer – for a movie. The 31-year-old actress ended her role as Buffy in 2003 after a seven-year run. Now the feisty character could be making a return on the big screen. An insider says, “There is an idea for a script and to pick the story up with Buffy older and maybe even a mother. Michelle is busy with movie projects at the moment but she is excited about the idea. Buffy still has a huge fan-base so this is a movie that already has an audience. Michelle is a shrewd businesswoman so the chances are this will happen at some point.”
As much as I really wish this were true … the info provided by this “insider” seems really weak. SMG has very famously balked at all attempts to get her reprise her Buffy role on the big screen. I suppose it’s possible that she has changed her mind in recent months but … my heart just can’t believe it just yet. For now, I’ll cross my fingers and hope for the best … but I fear we’ll be hearing soon that this rumor is just that … an erroneous rumor.

Hey you never know… Sex and The City the movie started out as a rumor and now we’re getting a sequel! Plus with the economy the way it is, even stars are changing their minds about which roles to do and whatnot so at least they know they will be working! Keep your fingers crossed!

I bet this is going to happen. Just like SATC, it will become huge all over again if they make this movie and really put SMG on the map (cause lets face it, she isn’t exactly A-List). I think it could do wonders for her career.

Holy elephant cantelope pants… I so hope this happens! I will seriously die and go to heaven! I remember being in elementary school and every day I would come home I would automatically watch Buffy. I used to cry if I missed an episode but, uh, you didn’t hear that last part. I love SMG <3333

as much as a rumor as this feels, i got my hopes up just a ‘tiny’ bit
BTVS is by far my most favourite show…ever…and a movie would be awesome at this point in time but…the need for the season 8 comics to be an actual television series is far more exciting than the movie, neither of which will happen [buffy & satsu, that'd be something i'd say, nothing like buffy & faith and their subtext relationship but yeah, long live the fanfic] =(

Oh, is it that time of the year already?
Seriousfully people, I hate to be a Negative Nancy, but it’s tough love time: THIS IS JUST A RUMOR! This is not the first BtVS movie rumor and it is certainly not the last. I am a serious Whedonphile, and I would love a BtVS movie, but I doubt this will ever come to fruition.
One’s time is better spent waiting for a Dr. Horrible’s sequel, because that is actually likely to happen at this point.

I think in order for this movie to be decent the entire cast needs to return. Esp Angel. I stopped watching after he left in the final episode of season 3. It was never the same without him

Funny, a friend younger than me asked what my fave tv show is, and I said, “BTVS hands down!” And the reply I got was “uhh isn’t that a really old show?”. To me, it was just like yesterday and i keep rewatching episodes so it’s like it never really was over!

Rose, Bald Outing, and Whitney, In case you didn’t know or forgot, Buffy The Vampire Slayer has already been a movie The original movie starred Kristy Swanson as Buffy. That’s where the idea for the tv show came from.
Danielle, I agree with you. Joss has to be in charge of it.
Josh, forget Buffy/Cordelia. Buffy/Willow or Buffy/Faith would be a lot better.
As for what some of you said, I agree that it’s most likely a rumor. Although, it would deifnitely help SMG’s career if she did do this. Not sure that they would be able to get some of the other ones either; Like Eliza Dushku, Michelle Trachtenberg, or Alyson Hannigan

WHY would she reprise the role she is famous for and that people actually LIKE when she could be making such great horror flicks like the grudge or drudge or whatever the hell its called. She was so FTMFW and has completely fallen off the face of the earth doing worthless garbage movies. A Buffy movie would just make too much sense, so you can forget about it.

I’ve got mixed feelings over this, I became a huge fan when I was 15, in 1998 (feels like such a long time lol). Buffy was essentially a teen soap showing these wonderful characters develop from teens to adults, with vampires and monsters added in. But, looking back at some of the episodes, it feels totally dated, I think movies and tv haved moved on, its never going to appeal to kids growing up on stuff like twilight who have never seen the tv show. Just think of the mess that was the last XFiles movie, I enjoyed it as I was a fan of the series back in the day but it was never going to work outside of “geekdom” and failed miserably

Jason Glover, I know there is an original Buffy movie and i actually own it, but nothing compares to the series! I think of the series seperate from the original movie just because the series was and is a masterpiece. Without Joss Whedon the movie would not even be a true Buffy movie.
I really do wish it is in some way true, although it most likely isn’t. I don’t want to get my hopes up but its so hard being a huge buffy fan not to hope and believe that it is true.

I hope they don’t destroy the concept by doing a movie
but if they do JW has not only to be involved he must
have 100% control and final say in EVERYTHING.
No test viewer rewrites – no marketing “input” NOTHING.

What I don’t understand is why some enterprising film studio doesn’t just hand over a totally blank cheque to this guy and say, “there ya go fella. Do what you like with it.”
I suspect that would be REALLY produce something worth seeing from hollywood for the first time in 25 years.

Yeah, when I saw that I thought it was going to comment that Michelle Trachtenberg was unable to play her sister due to other commitments. I’ve never seen SMG go by Michelle before. I guess she’s trying to reinvent herself. When that fails she’ll go back to Buffy to pay the bills.
