Hilary Duff Gets Gruff On ‘Law & Order: SVU’

Last week we got our first look at Hilary Duff’s upcoming guest appearance on the NBC crime drama Law & Order: SVU and today we get to see her in action. NBC has released a short preview clip from next week’s ep titled Selfish wherein we get to see and hear Hilary act like a “young and irresponsible” mother:
This role is a far cry from her days as Lizzie Maguire but, as the clip clearly shows, she’s grown into a mature young woman. I’m most impressed by her tough as nails accent … but don’t take my word for it — after the jump, check out the clip in full for yourselves …
Hahahaha … I just love Hilary Duff. I’m glad that she’s taking on these more adult roles, too. I understand that she’s working on a new TV series for air in the Fall where she plays a young lawyer — it’s called Barely Legal. It looks like we’ll be getting a whole lot more Duff on the small screen in the coming months … I, for one, think it’s long overdue.

Jeez when they were yelling at each other it reminded me, of Jerry Springer, or one of those other shows that families or people go on just to yell at one another XD
But hm, this is actually something I may want to watch with her in it. Looks intersting.

as much as a young woman she’s grown to be, i dont really feel much from her acting. it’s all kinda the same.

Man you’d think they’d get a little more creative in coming up with a plotline. This sounds word for word like the Casey/Kaylee Anthony trial! I’ll still watch it though. I love me some Hil Duff and SVU!!

Eh. She just sounds like Lizzy Maguire who curses. I was waiting for her to go “oh Gordo”. I agree with Simantha- its very Casey Anthony-ish.

I live in Orlando…and I’m so over the whole Casey Anthony thing. But you can bet I’m watching this AND the 11 o’clock NBC news. I bet the media will be parked outside the Anthony home when this airs.

Looks like she’s trying too hard. And I agree, shouldn’t have gotten the veneers it makes her mouth and speech all funky. Good for her though.

i don’t know … i want to believe that she’s more mature now but i keep seeing her in Lizzie MG and all those other teenie-bopper movies that i loved her in =)
but if she has a new show out, i might watch just to see if she can proove me wrong.

All the Law & Orders take stories that have been in the news and fictionalize them. There was a Britney/Kevin one a few years back, there’s been a Michael Jackson-esque one, etc etc. I love watching Law Order, and SVU is my fave. The marathons on the USA channel are the best.

this girl is NOT a good actress. You can totally tell she’s acting. SHe can’t pull u into any plot thats why only disney wanted her. I”VE HAD ENUFF OF HILARY DUFF>

I’m an SVU fan and I’ll watch it. I love the woman playing her mom. She’s great in everything, especially Lifetime movies, just can’t remember her name. Duff needs to prove herself to me.

Ok, I love Hilary Duff but I didn’t buy that at all. Like someone said, she’s just Lizzie McGuire cursing. She looks too nice to play a bad girl.

I really don’t mind Hilary Duff…from interviews she’s done and such she seems like a really down-to-earth girl. But her acting just…blows. I think it might be because she looks SO much like a 12-year-old that she just can’t pull off these kind of roles. I saw her in Ghost Whisperer last week too…and she was pretty terrible in that. This clip was a step up from Ghost Whisperer, at least.

Watched the episode. I was actually curious to see how her acting would be. God lord do I regret it. Her acting was HORRID! Ruined the episode.
To whoever said that the actress playing the mother was good, I concur!
