‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows’ Begins Filming
Now that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is in the can, ready for release this July it’s about time that production got underway on the big screen adaptation of the 7th and final book in the Harry Potter series, The Deathly Hallows. Because the book is so epic is size and scope (at least for a kid’s book) and because the movie studio would like to get as many movies out of the series as possible, Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows will be broken up into two films — part I and part II — to be released over time. Here are a few photos of the three stars Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Emma Watson (Hermoine Granger) and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) on the London streets set of part I of the final film:

While it is very exciting that production is finally underway on the movie(s) version of the final HP book, it’s a bit sad that it’s all coming to an end again. When The Deathly Hallows was released in book form back in 2007, it was met with great enthusiasm as well as great sadness. The finality of the story was bittersweet to many (me included). The release of the special book The Tales of Beadle the Bard was a nice little Harry Potter treat to snack on last Xmas but now that the book series is finished there is nothing really to look forward to anymore. The HP movies, at least, provide that outlet of looking forward … but once these films are finished and released — that’s it. JK Rowling has hinted that she may return to the world of Harry Potter in some way again in the future but I’m not sure I’m ready to hold my breath just yet. As I mentioned before, I’m planning on rereading the entire series in the coming months in order to refresh my memory and get back into the world of Harry Potter again. I am anxious to see The Half-Blood Prince this Summer … and The Deathly Hallows thereafter. Now that production has begun on the Deathly movie(s) it won’t be very long until we’ll be talking about that film in the theaters, too.

Im kinda upset now that i know what Hermione’s wearing to the Wedding. I wanted that to be a surprise much like the rest of the movie. Trent can you put a spoiler alert on the potter stuff? cuz i wanna surprise when I go to theatres.

I’m incredibly sad that they’ve started filming the last movies. When I read the final book, I was left asking myself “What do I do now?” I grew up with Harry Potter and I miss him. I’m definitely excited for everything…but I just feel like something incredible is missing from my life. Harry Potter has a big place in my heart and it feels kind of empty now…I’m patiently waiting to see what Rowling puts out. Until then, I’ll watch the trailer for The Half Blood Prince on line.

I think this is as bittersweet as the book 7 release was! I remember reading it and sort of being of two minds where half of me wanted to know what was going to happen and wanted to read faster and the other half was crying telling me to slow down that there will be no cliffhanger at the end of this one. I can’t believe how much they’ve all grown up over the course of this! I’m just happy everyone decided to stay and run the full course of the movies… I’m happy production is starting on Deathly Hallows but it’s still a little sad to know that in a few years the whole thing will really be over! :(
Oh and is it sad that I know what scene in the book they are most likely shooting?!! No, don’t answer that! lol

You know I was actually thinking about your comment on how J.K. Rowling hinted she may return to the series later and I would love to read about what happens in between the time Deathly Hallows ends and the epilogue for the book is written. That’s a pretty big time span and even though I’m sure nothing major happened drama wise I would just like to see how Ron and Hermione ended up married as do Harry and Ginny. I’ve also read the book from the editor of MuggleNet and in there she talks about an entensive interview she had with Rowling where Rowling comments on Harry’s son so I’m sure there’s a story there she’s thinking about!

hey!
do u think these scenes are the aftermath of the wedding? because if they are why are ron and harry in MUGGLE suits and not dress robes!/? i think david yates has pushed the muggle clothing in the past but this… they should at least be wearing dress robes like at the yule ball, right?
still. its not my place to judge i guess… im just a fan. despite this i think emma looks great and the films gna b excellent :D
luv yr site xxx

@Michelle — yes, I think there’s a story (or a few) in there too. i really hope JK gets the bug to write HP again.

The epilogue of The Deathly Hallows was horrible! It was so cliche. I liked the book but the ending didn’t really satisfy me… I mean, it was like: I just killed Voldemart in .5 seconds! And that was it. JK Rowling needs to write another book, dammit!

Seriously, Trent you needa get your audio book on. I’ve put it on here before and I’m totally serious, Jim Dale is awesome and audio books beat all.

Aww… Who gets married? I have yet to read the last 3 books. I’m kind of waiting so that I can see the movies 1st and that way I won’t be disappointed by them. PS- I LOVE Rupert Grint!

I decided to re-read the series, too. I started a little too soon, though, and I’m already done. I really hope Rowling continues to publish books in the future, HP or not!

Am I the only one who feels Michael Gambon RUINS Dumbledore in the movies?! And WHY WHY WHY is he so darn “gray” when Richard Harris’s Dumbledore had the white hair described in the books.
I love the HP series and I really hate MG’s portrayal of Dumbledore. And yes, I know this makes me a total nerd. : )
