First Look: Tori Amos, ‘Welcome To England’
Here is our first look at the music video for Tori Amos’s new single Welcome to England which is the first single from her new album Abnormally Attracted to Sin, due out in stores in May …

The video features Tori lookin’ fierce as hell in various locales in England. I think this video is our first indication at what the visualettes that will accompany each song on the album will look like. Very cool. After the jump, check out the music video for Welcome to England in full, along with lyrics to the song …
Welcome to England
“Do a dance for me.”
Baby it is late still you pour me
a tall one…
“Go on, let the liquid take off what you’re on.
You’ve been down before…”
Boy, not like this.
I’m in Quicksand I am sinking fast
“perfect,” he laughed, “cause your other half has
got himself a Devil’s access– Welcome to England,”
he said, “Welcome to my world. You better bring your own sun
sweet girl. You gotta bring your own sun now don’t you forget –
you bring your own sun, just enough for everyone.”
Heels on. Go on.
Bang a Tango but do not get tangled
Who can stay strong? when they only give us lies to lean on
When your heart explodes is it deathly cold?
You must let the colors violate the
Blackness
There is a magic world parallel
so leave your daily
hell– “Welcome to England,”
he said, “Welcome to my world…”
It’s not a question if I can
Fight by your side and withstand
Anything but,
I forgot that you said, “Girl if you come…
you better bring your sun.
Sweet girl, you gotta bring your sun
Now don’t you forget you bring your sun–
Just enough for
everyone
for everyone
“Welcome to England”
welcome to england
It’s a beautiful little film … I can’t wait to see the rest of the visualettes from this album. What do y’all think … do we like?

I actually just got back from my honeymoon, and we went on a tour of England. That video really made me miss London! It was beautiful, and I almost shed a tear.

Hey, the was a doll posse girl in that! Can’t remember which one is which, but…

Love the new song!! I think she looks more fierce towards the end, some of the blank face shots in the beginning dont do her any justice. Cant wait for this album!!!! (blonde girl from doll posse is Isabel…for Brenna)

OMG Isabel is BACK!!! She rocks, she was one of the Dolls I got to see live. I can’t wait to see who else comes back! Tori always amazes. So waiting for more new music now!

Wasn’t the “Tori” doll there too, in the American Flag outfit? She wore that for that character.
I hope she brings Pip back. She’s my fav.

While I love me some Tori, and I mean, LOVE, I’m disappointed in this song. I had hoped the new album would be a bit of a departure from American Doll Posse, and this song kinda sounds the same. I heard the new album was more Choirgirl-esque, and so far, I just don’t see it. But, I’m optimistic, cause I love me some TORI!

She’s gorgeous, but I hate that jumper/pantsuit of the US flag. As the Go Fug Yourself girls know, it’s such a nono!

The pantsuit scared me. I miss Old School Tori. She’s like a different person from the girl whose posters I used to hang on my wall. Boo for me. :(

as much as I love Tori I’m really not getting her lately..I haven’t really followed her persona stuff as it gets a little too wise for Europeans or non-American people to actually decipher what she’s going for with this..(and makes me feel stupid)..I feel the song has a negative vibe towards the UK(”Hell”,dark, moody) so her flaunting her flag jumpsuit on the streets of England makes this look even worse in my opinion,I dunno…a little help here?

Yes, this does seem like a remnant from ADPosse, and I was hoping for something a bit different, but, I gotta say, the lyrics are fantastic–like a little slice of life conversation, no?
It’s growing on me throughout the day.

I don’t know…I think its nice…But this is so not a worthy album lead off… I have a heard a few of the other songs off the albume and they are…nice. Just nice. I don’t know….I feel like a traitor but they just aren’t floating my boat.

I love Tori and have for many years. She is the greatest influence on my music (www.MythicaMusic.com), but I think she’s getting lazy both stylistically, visually and vocally. We’ve already been through the Posse girls. We get it Tori, you can act like other characters, but you are so busy playing an alter ego that you are not showing the world the real you. Be yourself! Be the girl you used to be during the days of “Crucify” and “Spark” and “Cornflake Girl.” Rip down the facade and the shroud, and let us see YOU, not a bunch of characters you’ve made up.
American Doll Posse was cool while it lasted, but if this new album coming out May 19 is a repeat of that, I will be sorely disappointed. It is chic and artistic to play an alter ego for a little while like so many before her (Bowie, Beatles, etc.), but do it for too long and it can consume you, and you can lose yourself.

I have a short list of artists whom I have stayed loyal to since the early 90’s, and Tori is definetly one of them. However, I did not buy American Doll Posse. I really hope she goes in a different direction with this album, but if not, I know I don’t have to wait long to be surprised by a new idea from her. :)

I like the new song, and am excited to get the new album. But I do think, like some of the others here, that she’s sort of sounding the same these days. The music to this reminds me of a few several other songs. But there’s a part in ‘Black Swan’ that sounds JUST like a part in ‘Yes, Anastasia’, so maybe repeating yourself is hard to avoid from early on, not to mention hundreds of songs in.
