First Look: ‘Halloween II’

Trick or Treat! Rob Zombie has released the first trailer from the sequel to his remake of Halloween and, I have to say, it doesn’t look too bad. While I was not really a fan of his version of Halloween, the trailer for Halloween II looks much better in comparison:
Unsurprisingly, Zombie strays quite a bit from the original version of Halloween II (which, for the record, is one of my fave horror films of all time) as it appears most of the action does NOT take place in the Haddonfield Hospital like it does in the original Halloween II. Yes, it appears that Zombie is taking a lot of liberty with the story but because I’m a big fan of the original movie, I’m wiling to give this remake the benefit of the doubt. Michael Myers is one of the greatest horror monsters of all time … I hope he is treated better in this sequel remake than he was in the original remake. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see … Halloween II doesn’t open in theaters until August 28.

So I’m confused about his mother being a ghost thing? Has he been receiving visions from her his whole life or just after she died? Because in the original her character was essentially “good.”
Also, it looks like Annie (Danielle Harris) is going to bite it in this one. If you freeze it at around 2:11, you can clearly see it’s her being picked up by Michael and she definitely looks, err, dead.
This movie makes me miss my BFF. He loves Michael Myers.

@Maggie — the “white trashy” origins of Meyers were laughable, the early part of the film was too over the top (imho) to take it serious. the movie picked up but there were a lot of probs with Zombie’s retelling of the story

zombie has said there are limited scenes in the hospital, actually, and most of it takes place afterward. it’s supposed to be a complete departure from the original sequel.
^@Trent, Totally agree. I hated the movie because Zombie went on and on about how Carpenter was a genius, and then threwout the /basic premise/ of the movie. Michael not having a past, being a real ‘boogieman’.
Its like saying “Well I just /love/ terminator, its the best movie of ALL TIME. Im going to remake it..Ceeept I think Im going to replace the robots with giant cats…”
he did a good job remaking the first halloween – can’t wait to see his next installment!
Hmm, interesting take you guys have on the movie. Obviously it’s not gonna compare to the original, so there’s no point in trying to compare it. However, I felt that Rob Zombie’s a pretty decent director and what he did with the material was good. I felt that the 1st half was the best because it was all original but once all the slashing started happening it kinda just crept into cliche horror mode. That was the disappointing part. There was no real original scares or anything, it started to become predictable. I like the trailer for H2, the only thing that bothered me was Michael Myers in a hoodie does not equal scary. He just becomes another hoodlum that way. I’m still gonna check it out because empty hospitals + Michael Myers = Scccarrryyy!!
I agree with Trent.
Also I feel the script was somewhat poorly written. Some of the conversations that the characters had were down right laughable! No one talks like that. But this movie looks really interesting. And remember, this is only the “teaser” trailer. I am sure a longer one will come once post production is finished. The movie just wrapped a few weeks ago so I am sure they still have a lot to do! And it’s only the end of April!
Looks cool but I hope Annie doesn’t die. I Love Danielle Harris!!! Se was so much better in the movie than the lead acctres was….

totlay agrre with trent, the 1st one sucked alot, he over done it with teh hill billy things, thats just not how it was in the origional
Looks not bad, but I have a feeling that long-white-hair-girl is going to bring the cheez whiz to this flick.
Zombie said in a recent interview that his H2 is not a remake of Halloween II, and the only similarity is that there are a few brief scenes in the beginning that take place at the hospital. Which makes me sad :(
