Filming Begins On ‘Iron Man 2’
Spotted: Tony Stark & Pepper Potts on the set of the sequel

Robert Downey, Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow were photographed on the set of the sequel to the hugely popular film Iron Man yesterday on the first official day of filming. Director John Favreau has been Twittering about the first day of filming all weekend long and yesterday was the big day. Coincidentally (or intentionally?) yesterday was also RDJ‘s birthday … here are a couple pics of RDJ and Gwyneth (Tony Stark and Pepper Potts) on the set of Iron Man 2:


Yep, nothing too exciting just yet … but photos from the first day of shooting like this are never usually all that exciting. Favreau has also posted a few of his own photos from the first day of shooting to his Twitter profile (which you can see HERE) but, again, he offers nothing all that exciting just yet. But … Iron Man 2 is now officially in full swing production. And away we go …

    I don’t mind Gwyneth Paltrow, but I truly wish that someone else as playing this part. Her acting in the first one was atrocious and made me hate her character.

    I dont like Gwyneth doing anything, she is insipid (and her mother is such a great actress!!), though I have to admit I liked Shakespeare in love, mostly because of Fiennes.
    I’m seriously excited about seeing Robert as Tony Stark again, I LOVE Robert to death!

    @Megan and Tiffany – Her character in the film was right in line with the Pepper of the comics. I’m also assuming you’re probably not fans of Favreau’s writing in general, as all the dialogue was clearly changed and shifted into his style, and she delivered it perfectly.

    @ C – totally agree with you! The two first posters couldn’t be anymore wrong. Out of all the comic movies right now who display a woman sidekick or lead, Gwyneth is probably my favorite out of all of them. I thought she amazing in Iron Man. She was witty, smart, and actually knew the right thing to do… she didn’t really act that much of a damsel in distress like most of the women do. She played Pepper perfectly. No need to hate! If anything was bad in Iron Man it was the final fight sequence because that villain was so horrible at acting it gave me heartburn.

    @ Chase – I know! I love Jeff Bridges, but the two robots fighting each other was a bit much for me. But absolutely, Iron Man is not only very true to the characters in the comics, but it’s also still modern and entertaining. I can’t wait for the next one!

    I don’t care for GP but I didn’t mind her in Iron Man; I thought her character was great. I loved the movie and was thrilled for RDJ that he had a big comeback movie.
