Bravo TV Readies Release Of Their ‘Project Runway’ Clone
'The Fashion Show' is comin' your way

Now that the legal wrangling between NBC Universal (which owns Bravo TV, the original home of Project Runway) and The Weinstein Company (which owns Project Runway and plans to move the show to Lifetime TV) is a done deal (meaning Project Runway is now free to air on Lifetime), Bravo TV is ready to release their new competitive reality TV series that pits fashion designers against one another for a cash prize. Sound familiar? I think that’s the point. Hosts Issac Mizrahi (the Heidi Klum?) and Kelly Rowland (the Tim Gunn?) will head The Fashion Show when it debuts on Bravo in early May. Senior vice president of the IMG Fashion company Fern Mallis is also featured on the show (the Michael Kors and Nina Garcia all wrapped into one?) which will allow viewers to have a say in which designer will win the challenges. Here is a group shot of the hosts and contestants of The Fashion Show along with all the released info about the series that is currently available:

Roll out the runway — Bravo will premiere its latest foray into fashion reality TV, launching its aptly titled The Fashion Show on May 7 (10 p.m, ET) with a fleet of 15 designers from around the globe. Hosted by Kelly Rowland and Isaac Mizrahi, the new show will give the creative hopefuls the chance to sell their designs and win $125,000. Also joining the hosts on the judging panel: Fern Mallis, the senior vice president of IMG Fashion, and a familiar face for Project Runway viewers. In a twist, The Fashion Show will allow viewers to participate and pick the winning designer among the finalists. Each week the contestants will be given two challenges, one that will be judged by Harpers Bazaar special projects director Laura Brown, and one elimination challenge.

OMG … this is hilarious and not at all surprising. If Bravo has to lose PR then they have to replace it with something else to try and keep hold of the PR audience. There appear to be many similarities between the two shows … which could be a good thing since that would mean double the fashion designer drama. I’m totally gonna reserve judgment until the show airs in May but … I’m curious. After the jump, check out two more photos of the hosts and contestants of The Fashion Show along with a short video introduction of the competing fashion designers (BE WARNED: the vid clip autoplays) …

Looks like a motley crew, which is a good thing, I think. Here is the introductory video of this new cast:

Interesting group (and we now know that this Johnny character is the new proud owner of Amy Winehouse‘s discarded beehive) … again, I’m gonna reserve judgment ’til I can see these folks in action. What do y’all think … will this show be worthy of the Project Runway audience?

I am actually excited for this because I love Isacc….he used to have the most hilarious show on Style (I think) years ago and he’s hil-friggin-larious. I doubt I will be tuning into Lifetime for the new PR. Bravo just never disappoints (even when you think it might!).

HOLD UP!!! Merlin??? I think he was on Janice Dickenson’s show as a fashion designer that hired some of her models for an insane show………LMFAO…….

cant view it.. only available in the US

  5. Lauren xx says:

Umm, looks like a motley crew of Runway rejects. And Johnny reminds me so much of Jay McCarroll, it drives me crazy.

I might watch the premier. Might. But I’m deffo making the jump to Lifetime for Runway.

  6. Kristen says:

ugh, why did it have to move to lifetime?!?? lifetime sucks! :(

never a fan of rip offs. and i will not start now.

OMG…um this lot looks like the rejects from PR…I’m reserving judgement but my hunch says this won’t have the finese that PR does. I have a feeling that they’re gonna maintain the formula that made PR such a hit, but without the right chemistry. I guess if I have to watch lifetime I will.

    why kelly rowland? LAME

  10. B says:

I love Isaac but am not a fan of Kelly Rowland. Of course, if she doesn’t have any more input than Heidi, it should not be a big deal.
