Johnny Depp Guest Stars On ‘Spongebob Squarepants’

Sneak Peek
Thursday, April 16th, 2009

Johnny Depp, who is drawn to look a helluva lot like Matthew McConaughey, will be guest starring on tomorrow night’s ep of Spongebob Squarepants and today we get our first look at his animated appearance. The episode is titled Spongebob vs. The Big One and here are a few screencaps from a short preview of the ep:

Earlier this month we learned that Victoria Beckham herself would be lending her voice for an upcoming guest appearance on Spongebob but it looks like Johnny Depp has beaten her to the punch. While we do not know when Vicki B’s ep will air we know that Depp’s ep will air tomorrow night (check your local listings). For those of you who just can’t wait, tho, I have a short video preview of the ep to share. After the jump, check out a 6-minute preview clip from Spongebob vs. The Big One featuring guest star Johnny Depp

Half-Blood Prince has been given a new release date of July 15, 2009 but considering as long as we’ve been forced to wait for this new film, I’ll take what I can get … having the film open two days earlier is just fine by me. I’m so happy that the film just looks better and better with each new trailer we get. After the jump, check out this new trailer in full …

Cristiano Ronaldo Strips Off In Victory

Takes a page from the David Beckham playbook
Thursday, April 16th, 2009

He shoots, he scores … he strips off his jersey and runs around the field in shirtless victory! Soccer phenom Cristiano Ronaldo helped his team Manchester United defeat Porto in their Champions League quarter-final Wednesday yesterday … and to celebrate, Ronaldo decided to strip himself half-nekkid at the end of the match … behold:

Manchester United rekindled glorious European nights from their past as a stunning goal by Cristiano Ronaldo fired them to victory over Porto in their Champions League quarter-final Wednesday. No English team had ever beaten the Portuguese champions on their own soil, but the winger’s first-half wonder strike gave his team a 1-0 win on the night, 3-2 on aggregate, to set up an all-English semi-final tie with Arsenal. Coming into the game as underdogs after a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford last week, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson urged his players to bring the spirit of the 1999 treble winning team to the Dragao Stadium in what was his 150th Champions League match. One flash of genius from the Portuguese maestro coupled with gritty defensive play earned United glory and keeps the red half of Manchester dreaming of the quintuple. The United handler was like a little schoolboy at the end jumping up and down in delight. “It doesn’t matter who you play when it is your 150th game!” beamed Ferguson. “150 games is a long time! I thought we defended very well and we had restored stability at the back with (Nemanja) Vidic and (Rio) Ferdinand reunited which is a solid partnership and they understand each other so well. I couldn’t see too much danger from Porto really, save some half chances but nothing more than that.” Ferguson started with the same formation as the first leg but had the luxury of picking a fit Ferdinand in defence while midfielder Anderson was given a start against his old club. The Dragons from Porto were intent on making the same type of start which rocked United last week, but after a promising opening they were stunned by a sixth minute rocket from Ronaldo. There seemed no danger when the winger drove into the Porto half, but the World Player of the Year took a swing of his right foot and unleashed an unstoppable shot from 35-yards into the top left-hand corner of Helton’s goal. “That was maybe one of my best strikes,” conceded Ronaldo. “Anderson gave me the ball and when I turned I knew I was going to go for a shot. It was intentional,” added Ronaldo, who admitted that being played up front was not his favourite spot. Ferguson was in awe of the goal. “It was unbelievable. It was a magnificent hit,” purred Ferguson.

HMMM … stripping at the end of a soccer match may be something that David Beckham is known for but I don’t really mind that Cristiano Ronaldo has taken up his mantle. I’m willing to cheer on Manchester United to victory from here on out if it means that Ronaldo plans to keep celebrating in this manner. Congrats!! And please keep the winning/stripping coming!!

Hugh Jackman Drops In For A Promo Event In The UK

More daredevil hijinks to sell 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine', raise funds for charity
Thursday, April 16th, 2009

Hugh Jackman, who is currently in London, England to promote his new film X-Men Origins: Wolverine, stopped by the offices of The Sun newspaper to rappel off the building in a promo event to raise funds for the Help Our Heroes organization which lends aid to wounded troops. Here are a few photos of Hugh being a daredevil for a good cause:

X-MEN star Hugh Jackman joined Sun staff today for a daredevil abseil to raise cash for Help For Heroes. In a new nationwide ad campaign, the forces’ favourite paper challenged the nation “What will you do?” for our wounded troops. So it was only right that we did our bit to fundraise for the crucial forces charity too. More than 200 Sun staff made the 100ft plunge from the roof of our HQ in Wapping, East London, aided by a team of Royal Marines. And the 40-year-old Hollywood heartthrob – in London to promote his new blockbuster X-Men Origins: Wolverine – was happy to take his place beside us. The rain-soaked bid raised £25,000 for the wounded troops’ charity. Aussie-born Hugh’s arrival had female Sun staff at knives with each other as they jostled for pictures with the star – named Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine last year … Our abseil was one of more than 600 fundraising events registered so far since the campaign was launched two weeks ago. Backed by The Sun, Help For Heroes want to raise £20million to build a network of seven recovery centres where war-battered troops can rehabilitate, retrain and get their lives back. Abseil organiser Jim Holgate, Sun associate night editor, said: “Sun staff and our colleagues at News International wanted to show Our Boys and Girls across all the Forces that we are are fully behind them. “Help for Heroes is such a worthy cause. And who better to help us stage the event than the Navy’s Royal Marines? “It was a brilliant team effort on all sides.”

As you may recall, Hugh dropped out of a helicopter in Sydney, Australia earlier this month to promote his new film there. At least this time around, Hugh factored in a way to pull off a publicity stunt, promote his film AND help serve a good cause all at the same time. Can the man do no wrong?

Linda Hogan Speaks, Admits Fear Of Hulk Hogan

Issues a statement in response to Hulk's outrageous comments
Thursday, April 16th, 2009

After Hulk Hogan (née Terry Bollea) gave an interview to Rolling Stone magazine where he made the following comments about his ex-wife Linda (Hogan) Bollea:

“I could have turned everything into a crime scene, like OJ, cutting everybody’s throat. You live half a mile from the 20,000-square-foot home you can’t go to anymore, you’re driving through downtown Clearwater and see a 19-year-old boy driving your Escalade, and you know that a 19-year-old boy is sleeping in your bed, with your wife . . . I totally understand OJ. I get it.”

Linda is speaking out by issuing an official statement denouncing the outrageous comments made by Hogan, admitting that she is taking his comments very seriously and plans to protect herself as much as she can as a result. Here is the full text of Linda’s official statement in response to Hogan’s original comments:

“Hulk’s serial cheating destroyed our marriage, our family and our future. Sadly, his recent comments remind us that his definition of fair is much different than what the law dictates,” states Linda Hogan. “We have always maintained that the fear that Linda has had to live with comes from the rage and instability much too often associated with pro wrestlers,” states Linda’s rep Gary Smith. Linda and her family are taking these recent homicidal comments seriously. Linda’s attorney Ray Rafool is weighting all options necessary to protect his client.

Gary Smith on behalf of Linda Bollea

It is insane that Hulk Hogan could make those comments … but, in the end, can we really be surprised by anything that comes from the entire Hogan family? You got the son, Nick Hogan, going to jail for almost killing his best friend after crashing his car in a reported street race. You got the daughter, Brooke Hogan, doing anything and everything (like pole dancing, for example) in order to promote herself as a “singer” … and then you’ve got these outrageous comments from their father Hulk Hogan. Trust me, it’s not that I’m the biggest Linda Hogan fan but that her husband would say such things publicly is horrendous. If he is willing to divulge these dark thoughts in a major magazine can you imagine what he must be like in private? Linda is right to take these “homicidal comments” seriously. I hope she is smart and stays as far away from him as she can. Whether he is serious about his comments or not, it would be very smart of her to keep her distance. Who knows what the man might be capable of doing. After all, he has proven by his very words that he is capable of concocting some very dark things. Scary.

Reading by Kindlelight

The TV Guide
Thursday, April 16th, 2009

Yesterday was pretty much awash for me … after spending most of the day working, David and I went out for a late lunch/early dinner with plans to catch a matinee movie before settling in for the night. For some strange reason, I got really ill at dinner and decided to cancel plans to see a movie. I laid down to rest at around 6PM and ended up sleeping until 12:30AM! So yeah … my night was shot. Unfortch, when I woke up I couldn’t go back to sleep so I decided to do some reading on my fave new toy of the moment my Kindle 2:

As you may recall, David and I picked up a pair of Snuggie blankets at Bed, Bath and Beyond a few weeks ago (Snuggies, I might add, that got a lot of use when we were in Connecticut this past weekend) and packed with the blankets were a pair of reading lights … which came in handy last night. While David slept, I was able to read my Kindle and not disturb him. I managed to finish off my back issues of The New Yorker and begin reading a new book called Some Girls Bite by author Chole Neill. I was sent an advance copy of Neill’s book a few weeks ago but haven’t had the chance to read it … the book has since been released and, happily, I found it available in Kindle format so … voila! I downloaded the book from my bed on my Kindle and got thru the first few chapters. Some Girls Bite is the first book in a new vampire series and I am really impressed with it thus far. The writing is superb, much more impressive that that of the Twilight Saga books. I like that the protagonist is a strong female character rather than a weak one. But … yeah … that was my night.

Tonight, David and I will be making our way to the Staples Center to FINALLY see Britney Spears in concert. We have VIP tickets so we have to get to the venue early for the pre-show backstage tour … I plan on Twittering thruout the night and will take about a million photos, I’m sure. I’m glad I got the sickness out of the way yesterday so that I can enjoy tonight’s concert pain free. Are any of y’all gonna be in the hiz tonight? Hopefully I’ll see you there.
