Yesterday we learned the amazing news that original Melrose Place album Laura Leighton (who played the wickedly fun Sydney Andrews Mancini Andrews) has signed on to reprise her role in the upcoming Melrose redux for The CW this Fall and today we learn that alum Thomas Calabro has also agreed to reprise his role for the redux as well. As you may recall, Calabro played Dr. Michael Mancini who was also a wickedly fun character on the show and was the only actor that appeared in every season of the original Melrose Place series run:

First Sydney, now Dr. Michael Mancini: The CW’s new Melrose Place has yet another familiar face joining the cast. Thomas Calabro will be reprising his role as Dr. Mancini, the good guy-turned-cheater, a source tells PEOPLE. Calabro, who appeared every season in the original Melrose, will be the father to David Patterson, played by Shaun Sipos. No other details were revealed.

As far as Melrose bad guys go, Dr. Michael Mancini is the best of them … altho his character started out as a nice guy in season one (when all of the characters on the show were nice … and boring), Dr. Mancini turned into Mr. Hyde almost overnight. In fact, Calabro‘s character was even married to Sydney Andrews for a short while on the show after she stole him away from her big sister Jane Andrews who was happily married to him at the time. I fondly remember Sydney‘s wedding day to Michael … Jane showed up, called her a bitch, ripped her wedding dress and threw her ass in the Melrose Place pool. If memory serves, the marriage didn’t last and Sydney was forced to start stripping become a prostitute to a Heidi Fleiss-like madam in order to pay her rent to stay at Melrose Place. Sigh. That’s good TV. Now, I didn’t watch Melrose in its final seasons so I have no idea if Michael Mancini became a father on or off the show. I do know that he was married to Jane, Sydney and Dr. Kimberly Shaw (played by Marica Cross) — and we all remember her, right?

And I believe there was some fraternization with Amanda Woodward (played by Heather Locklear) but I have no idea who his babymama is … but I guess we’ll find out when the revamped Melrose hits the airwaves this Fall. I must admit, I’m very excited that both Sydney (who, I’m told, died on the series but miraculously will still be alive for the revamp) and Michael Mancini are returning to the show. Are you excited too?

UPDATE: I’m hearing that when Laura Leighton‘s Sydney Andrews returns for the redux she will be the OWNER/Landlady of Melrose Place! Not a bad gig to come back from the dead for, eh?

After arriving in the UK Sunday after a very disappointing trip to Malawi where her attempt to adopt Chifundo Mercy James was denied, Madonna brushed off her shoulders as best she could and stepped out on the town last night to dine with her good friend and fashion designer Stella McCartney. Putting on her best brave face, Madonna met up with Stella for dinner at Cecconi’s in order to try and move on a bit from her failed adoption bid. Here are a few photos of the BFFs making their way out of the restaurant together last night:

Madonna sought comfort from friend Stella McCartney last night after jetting back to the UK from Malawi. The singer was said to be ‘devastated and shaking’ at having to leave four-year-old Mercy in the African country after a judge rejected her adoption bid. The 50-year-old, who touched down in Luton airport on Sunday afternoon, went to London restaurant Cecconi’s with the fashion designer. Dressed in a black and white print dress, the singer was ushered into the venue by minders who put a protective arm around her. A cut was visible on her arm, but it was not clear how she sustained the injury. Despite the strain of recent days, the singer managed a smile as she made her way through the scrum of photographers. She put out a welcoming arm to greet Stella, who was dressed head to to win black. Madonna was met by ex-husband Guy Ritchie as she landed on Sunday. Ritchie leapt up the stairs to sweep their adopted son David into his arms for a hug, and whisk him and son Rocco, eight, off to his Wiltshire estate. He and Madonna did not appear to speak to each other, but Ritchie has publicly supported the adoption of Mercy … Madonna also reportedly told aides: “I can’t believe I’m leaving my beautiful baby behind. It’s not right. I love that baby girl… She’s my little girl – she needs to be with me.” Officials have already returned Mercy to an orphanage, despite the appearance of a man claiming to be her biological father. Security guard James Kambewa, 24, said he was willing to take a DNA test to prove he was Mercy’s father and wants to raise the child. If the court in Malawi accepts his paternity claim it is likely to be the final blow to Madonna’s hopes of adopting the child.

I imagine that it is very difficult for someone as solitary as Madonna to rely on a pool of friends for support at times like these but, then again, even someone like Madonna needs support every once in a while. It’s great to see that when the going gets tough, Maddy does have a small network of friends that will offer help or just a shoulder to lean on at difficult times like these. While I think it’s great to see her looking relatively happy again, I’m sure she is still very upset on the inside. I suspect that Madonna may be planning to spend more time with friends as she awaits the results of the paternal DNA test as well as her appeal before the Malawian Supreme Court … after all, even Madonna is human.

Chris Brown, as expected, was in LA court Monday afternoon to enter a plea of not guilty to the two felony charges that he has been charged with (felony assault and making a criminal threat) in the wake of the alleged assault of his girlfriend Rihanna in the early morning hours of February 8. It was reported that Brown‘s lawyer had been working furiously with the LA District Attorney to try and work out a plea bargain wherein Brown might admit guilt but serve no jailtime … clearly, that deal could not be worked out so the prosecutor’s office moved forward with Brown‘s arraignment Monday afternoon:

R&B star Chris Brown pleaded not guilty in a Los Angeles court on Monday to charges stemming from an alleged attack on his girlfriend, pop singer Rihanna. Brown, 19, entered the pleas during his arraignment in Los Angeles Superior Court. Rihanna’s attorney, Donald Etra, told reporters after the hearing that Rihanna hoped a plea bargain could be struck but that she would testify against Brown if required. Brown and his attorney Mark Geragos did not speak to reporters. Judge Patricia Schnegg set an April 29 status hearing for Brown. Los Angeles prosecutors have said Brown attacked Rihanna, 21, during a roadside dispute in his rented Lamborghini last February. A photo of Rihanna’s bruised and battered face was leaked onto the Internet. Brown later issued a statement saying he was “sorry and saddened” about the incident, and was seeking counseling. The formal charges accuse Brown of assaulting Rihanna “by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury” and threatening to commit a crime “which would result in death and great bodily injury.” He could face up to four years in prison if convicted. A police affidavit said Brown shoved Rihanna’s head against the passenger window, repeatedly punched her in the face, bit her ear and finger, and put her into a headlock. At one stage, the affidavit said, Brown told Rihanna: “I’m going to kill you.”

I have to say, I am RELIEVED the the LA District Attorney’s office is diligently moving forward with this case and seems uninterested in working out a deal where Brown would get off without serving any jailtime. It seems clear that the prosecutor’s office feels confident in the evidence that they have in the case to move forward with the case. I worried that Brown‘s legal team might be able to work out a sweet deal for him but, judging by today’s outcome, that seems unlikely. It remains to be seen if Brown would eventually be willing to agree to jailtime in order to avoid a trial but, even then, the prosecutor’s office might choose to still move forward with the trial in order to secure the maximum punishment allowed by law. The fact that Chris Brown himself admitted some bit of guilt by releasing his “sorry and saddened” statement about a week after the alleged assault took place seems pretty clear to me that he is guilty of these crimes. Here’s hoping the LA District Attorney will work to ensure that he ends up paying for those crimes. Thus far, it looks like that’s the way things are shaping up.

After initially telling US Weekly that she and girlfriend Samantha Ronson had not broken up in the wake of the drama they went thru this past weekend, Lindsay Lohan finally admits to E! News that the couple are, in fact, taking a break (and we all know what that means). But, it seems that Samantha was the one who did the initial breaking-up when she reportedly banned Lindsay from attending the I Heart Ronson party at the Chateau Marmont on Friday night. To be completely honest, altho I was at that party, I saw no evidence nor heard any chatter about the reported drama that was said to have occurred. I must’ve gotten to the party too late to witness any of the drama that, it now appears, was the first sign that the girls had broken up. According to People magazine, Samantha‘s family and friends are hoping that the couple remain broken up … which is bummer news to me cuz I really loved L. Ron as a couple. But, as we all know, many couples go thru lots of drama behind the scenes. Mebbe it’s for the best? All we know for sure is that the couple are now dunzo!

Lindsay Lohan and her celebrity deejay girlfriend Samantha Ronson have split – and this time, Ronson’s family hopes it sticks, a source tells PEOPLE. “Sam’s family has made her swear that it’s really over,” a friend of Lohan and Ronson’s tells PEOPLE. “They are giving her all the support they can to keep her away from Lindsay.” Adds another source close to Ronson: “Lindsay is going to try and twist the situation in her favor, but Sam clearly left her, not the other way around.” Lohan herself spoke out on Monday telling E! news, “We are taking a brief break so I can focus on myself.” Meanwhile, Lohan has reportedly written several messages on her private Twitter page alleging Ronson’s infidelity and drug use led to their breakup. In one message, the actress wrote, “You broke my heart. Now go away. I loved you.” The on-again off-again pair have not been spotted publicly together in recent days, while Lohan has been a fixture on the L.A. scene, stopping into Chateau Marmont with her sister Ali on April 1, and even jumping on stage to sing along with Lily Allen during the British pop star’s concert the following night at the Wiltern. Over the weekend, Ronson changed the locks on her house, a friend of the pair confirms. “Sam changed the locks on her house,” the source tells PEOPLE. “Lindsay moved her stuff out as much as she could. She’s basically totally out of the house as far as her stuff and she’s not living there anymore.” Adds the source: “Lindsay was pretty devastated.” This weekend, Lohan attempted to get into the “I Heart Ronson” bash at Bar Marmont in West Hollywood – an event celebrating Charlotte Ronson’s clothing line and deejayed by Samantha Ronson. “Lindsay was banned from the event and was trying to enter from all ends,” says a source. “Sam did not want her there.” The next night, Lohan hit up other hot spots including the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. According to a paparazzo, who spotted the star at McDonalds later in the night, “Lindsay kept hiding her face in her hands … One second she would scream that we were scaring her and the next she started rambling about how much she loves Samantha.”

Oh, lawd!! Drama, thy name is L. Ron. I suppose we shouldn’t be too surprised that this volatile relationship had to go Bang! at some point. I honestly really liked these two as a couple. If you think about it, the last year that they were together was fairly drama-free. No one was arrested and no major incidents really occurred. As soon as Linds started hanging out with her mom, the cops have to go and get involved. In the end, I’m pretty sure that Samantha is going to be just fine … she’s always managed to do her thang and stay out of trouble. She seems to have a very stable family unit that cares very much for her. Lindsay, on the other hand, has no such stability in her life … and because of this break-up, might’ve lost the very stability that has kept her out of trouble for so long. No relationship is perfect and I’m sure we’d be shocked to learn all the downsides of this couple’s love affair … but in the end, when hearts are broken it’s always sad news. Ah well … twas good while it lasted. L. Ron you will be missed.
