The Beckham Boys Enjoy Milan

Playday
Monday, April 6th, 2009

A little over a week ago we saw photos of mama Victoria Beckham making her way thru LAX Airport with her 3 sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz as they made their way to Europe. It appears the boys are on extended holiday from school because they are still enjoying their vacay away from SoCal. Here are a few photos of all of the Beckham boys enjoying a lovely afternoon of fun at a park in Milan, Italy over the weekend:

Neither parent was there to enjoy the fun with the boys but that didn’t seem to stop them from having a blast on the playground together. The bumper cars look fun and of course there had to be a little bit of soccer play … fun, fun, fun! If David Beckham ends up becoming a full-fledge member of AC Milan at some point down the line, days like this may become commonplace for the lads. It’ll be sad to see the Beckhams leave America (well, for me anyway) but as long as they are together and this happy, that’s really all that matters.

Robert Pattinson Does ‘Dossier’ Magazine

Hair!
Monday, April 6th, 2009

Twilight star Robert Pattinson is featured in the new issue of Dossier magazine (their third issue ever) this month in a photoshoot shot by Theo Wenner that shows Rob’s sexier side. For those of you who may not be aware, Dossier is a biannual magazine that is published around Spring and Fall Fashion Weeks and highlights a fusion of fashion, photography, art and literature in various artistic disciplines. Here are a few photos of R.Pattz from this latest issue of Dossier magazine:

Oh yeah, Dossier really knows how to get one’s attention, no? These photos are really great. I kinda hate that Rob appears unable to get thru one photoshoot without posing with a cigarette but, over all, this shoot is pretty hot. Wenner did an amazing job capturing the cool James Deanness of Robert Pattinson in these photos. I really like these photos. I’m gonna have to make a point to pick up this particular copy of Dossier on my next visit to the newsstand. If they keep featuring photoshoots like this one, methinks Dossier is going to become a more well-known publication. What do y’all think … do y’all like these photos as much as I do?

The 2009 Bravo ‘A-List Awards’ Are Handed Out

With nary an A-Lister in sight
Monday, April 6th, 2009

Bravo TV hosted the 2009 A-List Awards at The Orpheum Theater here in LA last night and they managed to attract a whole lotta D-Listers (and lower) to the event. The second annual award show (completely made up by Bravo TV to hand out awards to the the reality TV “stars” they created themselves) was, once again, hosted by Kathy Griffin and seeks to honor “the best in food, fashion, beauty, design and pop culture”. Here are a few pics of some of the supposed A-Listers who came out for the event yesterday:

Um, let’s be real here … there ain’t nothing A-List about the A-List Awards. How much do you wanna bet that Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan grabbed the closest scantily-clad woman in sight so that he would get photographed by the assembled media folks (and how much do you want to bet that Tila Tequila thought she was posing for a pic with Uncle Fester from The Addams Family)? I got $10. I mean, I get that Bravo is trying to start something akin to the MTV Video Music Awards with their little show but I’m afraid it ain’t gonna happen. The network boldly nominated some bona fide A-List people (David Beckham, Brad Pitt, Michelle Obama, Tina Fey) but when all you get on your red carpet is Pug Dilton and Aubrey O’Day, well, mebbe it’s time to change the name of your awards show … perhaps the A-Hole Awards? I keed, I keed … but seriously …. they should stop. That being said, I do love Kathy Griffin and if they keep getting her to host, I’ll prolly watch it in reruns or something. Or, you know, not.

Mickey Rourke Gets Into The Ring At ‘WrestleMania 25’

Life imitates art
Monday, April 6th, 2009

After initially turning down an invitation to appear at the 25th anniversary of the WWE’s WrestleMania extravaganza, The Wrestler star Mickey Rourke finally succumbed to pleas that he at least attend the event and showed up in Houston, TX this weekend to make an appearance. After telling reporters that he had no intention in participating in the wrestling show, he ended up “surprising” the crowd by climbing into the ring to lay the smack-down on professional wrestler Chris Jericho. Here are a few pics of Mickey’s real-life stint as a real-life wrestler at WrestleMania 25 this weekend:

Mickey Rourke loves wrestling, but he is putting Hollywood first. The actor brought a slice of Hollywood to Texas on Sunday as he — and later “Pussycat Dolls” lead singer Nicole Scherzinger — talked to reporters at Reliant Stadium ahead of WWE’s annual pay-per-view extravaganza “WrestleMania 25.” Rourke addressed talk several weeks ago that he may get involved at “WrestleMania” in a wrestling role instead of a support role. “My agents said it would be detrimental to my career” to take the focus off of acting after making a comeback in “The Wrestler,” he told reporters, which included local TV stations and international wrestling media. Also, “I’m doing ‘ Iron Man 2′ now, and the insurance company said under no circumstances could I get into the ring,” he added. Rourke was in town to take a seat Sunday night at the anniversary edition of the mother of all wrestling pay-per-views in support of wrestling legends Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka and “Rowdy” Roddy Piper. With “Nature Boy” Ric Flair in their corner, the legends took on Chris Jericho, who has bad-mouthed them and Rourke’s character in “The Wrestler” on WWE TV shows in recent weeks. After training hard and getting hurt a lot, “I started really enjoying it,” Rourke said about wrestling. “I gained the respect for a sport I knew nothing about.” Asked by one reporter if he would have loved to become a wrestler in retrospect, Rourke said: “Oh, God, yes.” Rourke, flanked at the press conference by Flair and Steamboat, said WWE and its stars had supported “The Wrestler” so much that he wanted to show support for the wrestlers at “Mania” as well. “I’m very honored,” he said. “I was out of the movie business for 15 years. The wrestling movie has given my career a boost.” Meanwhile, Flair called Rourke “one of us” and said his portrayal of a wrestler was an inspiration. “He makes us look really good,” he said. Rourke quipped that after gaining weight for “The Wrestler,” he is still working on his weight. “I’m still trying to get in shape for ‘ Iron Man 2,”‘ he said. Later on at “WrestleMania 25,” Rourke couldn’t quite restrain himself after all. After Jericho won his 3-on-1 match against the legends, he provoked the former boxer Rourke who ended up getting into the ring very slowly and taking his cowboy hat off before punching and knocking down the WWE superstar to gain a measure of revanche for the legends. Rourke then celebrated in the ring with the legendary Flair to big cheers from the audience.

I never once doubted that Rourke would climb into that ring, if only for a brief moment, once it was confirmed that he would be attending WrestleMania this year. It was too perfect an opportunity to not capitalize on. The Wrestler really gave him his life back, it only made sense that he would want to return the favor by appearing at the sport’s biggest yearly event. Not that I was every a wrestling fan but I used to play with the toys and watch the WWF cartoon back in the 80’s. I might’ve been struck by a little of the Hulk-a-mania back in the day. I cannot believe that WrestleMania is already 25 years old … it used to be such a big deal to be able to watch the event on Pay-Per-View. Hahahahaha! In any event, Mickey deffo keeps scoring the cool points by keepin’ it real in this manner. While the sport of professional wrestling may be nothing more than sport theater, Mickey’s decision to get involved is very awesome in my eyes. He prolly ain’t got many more chances to do something like this so … good for him for playing along.

Chris Pine & Zachary Quinto Like To Work Up A Sweat Together

Birth of a bromance?
Monday, April 6th, 2009

Star Trek co-stars Chris Pine (who plays the young Capt. James T. Kirk) and Zachary Quinto (who plays the young Spock) have made their way to Australia ahead of the world premiere of their new movie in Sydney … and almost immediately upon arrival, the pair put on their work-out garb and went for a jog together in a Sydney park. Here are a few photos:

Clearly, the guys were really anxious to get in some physical activity together after such a long flight but I’m sure I could’ve come up with another way for the lads to get all worked up together that doesn’t involve running. But, let’s not go there (not yet, anyway). Now that the promo machine for the Star Trek prequel movie is about to officially get underway, these guys (and their ST cohorts) are bound to be spending a lot of time together traveling the world, perhaps staying together in close quarters. I mean, the possibilities for hijinks are endless. The fact that Chris and Zachary are the principal stars of the film means that they are, most likely, going to be spending a lot of time together. If these pictures are any indication of what’s to come, I can’t wait to see more.

Hair Of The Dog

The TV Guide
Monday, April 6th, 2009

After the really terrible day I suffered thru on Saturday all I really wanted to do on Sunday was to try and salvage my weekend and get some things around the house taken care of. My very good friend Darion was not content with letting me stay in all day, whether I was feeling better or not, and insisted that I join him and his friends for brunch at Basix. I finished work in time to meet up with them and ended up having a great time. I was cajoled into heading over to The Abbey for an afternoon cocktail but having vowed to “never drink again” I really wasn’t gonna go there again. But, Darion and his wily convincing got me to succumb and, well, off to The Abbey we went. Again, I had a great time hanging out with The Abbey crowd yesterday afternoon. There was talk of heading out to My House for their bi-weekly gay extravaganza but the place was closed for some reason and we ended up making a cameo at Here Lounge to end the night:

The moral of the story is that I didn’t get a lick of housework done but I do have pretty fantastic friends … so I guess I win in the end :) Today, tho, I really have to get shizz done around the house before I pack up for my quick trip to the East Coast to have Passover with David’s family. The weather is so beautiful today, tho, I might have to get outside at some point — housework or no housework :)
