From an acting standpoint, not very challenging roles. However, he did show great promise in that he could sing on-key, dance and act (even if he had to "dumb-down" for Disney) in those films. It's how he became a household name. Those of us over 21 recognize the talent we've seen displayed in former roles. Watch (if you can find it) the Lifetime movie, Miracle Run. Now that's acting. He also did well with his role in Summerland. We have yet to see Me & Orson Wells or 17 Again, but all indications are we'll see him rise up to the challenges of the more sophisticated roles than in any of his recent efforts. I was glad to hear he'd turned away from the Footloose project. You can't compete with the original! He's got smart people advising him and he knows how to TAKE sound advice. Smart boy!
