Yesterday was a cloudy, dreary day here in SoCal … which is perfect weather for reading :) Because I am planning on attending the midnight showing of the big screen adaption of Watchmen on Thursday night, I really wanted to make sure that I read as much of the Watchmen graphic novel before then. I had already read the first 3 or 4 chapters and sat down to read for most of the day:

I managed to get thru chapter 11 with only the final chapter to go. Yeah, it’s a really great read. It’s so smart and so really intelligent … it’s very much a nice change of pace from the usual drivel that I entertain myself with these days ;) I totally understand why so many folks are such devoted fans of the graphic novel. I’m anxious to read how the whole saga ends … I hope to have it completed this afternoon.
David and I are planning a little grocery store outing later on … which is always fun. It’s rainy today but the temps aren’t too bad. I’m just dying for Summer to get here already :)

Another Watchman fan
I can’t wait for the movie to come out!!!!
I am so excited to see this movie!!
So glad you like it! It’s one of my all time favorites. Enjoy!
Amazing book!
I devoured it last year, and I want to read it again now!
I’m reading it right now in prep for the movie too :). Its really good but I can only read so much of it at a time or it starts to be too much. I read like one of the comics and have to take a mental break.
so jealous! you’re dying for summer to get there, while i’m on the east coast and just waiting for the temperature to get above freezing :( … summer is just too much to ask!
Cannot wait!! I will be right there at midnight as well. All my friends who have been lucky enough to see it early have said it’s pretty great.
Awesome! You will NOT see the ending coming. It’s crazy. I’m not seeing it at midnight but I’m seeing it Friday afternoon in IMAX.
Aw, man. I started reading this at work last year, had a job with loads of downtime, and got halfway through, then was moved to a different department, where I’m always busy, busy, busy.
I haven’t had a chance to crack it open again since July. =(
Really want to finish it before Friday, but I know I won’t.
Hey Trent! Might I recommend the Watchmen Motion Comics. They’re pretty well put together, and they’re about 25 minutes a piece (there’s 12).
I read the comic awhile back but watched these this past week and it’s got me all pumped for the movie, it has dialog and everything, pretty awesome. Kind of puts everything together in my mind as far as the story goes, sometimes when you’re reading things aren’t clear or lost in translation.
You can find them on iTunes or if you’re into Bittorrent they’re out there as well :)
I first got into Watchmen last June and have read it about five times since then. So glad you’re reading it too, Trent!!
I bought it yesterday and I’m already half way through and totally in love with it. Yes, I’m aware that makes me a dork
Have fun grocery shopping, I would rather do that chore alone. I am a browser and package reader. Hubby takes the cart and runs over kids and little old ladies if they are in his way(ok, not litterally, but almost) and tries to get it done it 5 minutes or less. I have learned to leave him home, it’s much more enjoyable for both of us. I will probably go see the movie, once all the hype dies down, I hate large, loud crowds at the movies.
Depending on the movie, the crowds make it even more enjoyable! The Dark Knight, Iron Man, Return of the King, Tropic Thunder, and prolly more were all great movies made more enjoyable by the big crowds just as pumped to see the film as me. It was a nice feeling of community, even if just for a few hours.
Though the crowds for the last Matrix and Star Wars movies sucked, so it depends on the film (somewhat) and the audience.
the watchman is such a great graphic novel but it would be so much better if i didn’t have to wright essays on it for my american literature class!
woooot! i can’t wait to see it!! hope you enjoy the ending of the book. it’s freaking crazy!!!
