Vicki B. Takes The Kiddies Flying

It's a bird, it's a plane ...
March 2nd, 2009

Vicki B. pushed back her hair with a stylish headband, stuffed her feet into a pair of horribly uncomfortable-looking shoes and took her three sons to Universal Studios Citywalk here in Hollywood, CA for a fun afternoon of flying at the iFly free falling simulator … here are a few pics:

While the free falling looks like an awful lot of fun, those severely angled shoes (which prolly cost a small fortune) look like an awful lot of pain. After the jump, check out a helpful chart offered by The Daily Mail that spells out the sort of damage that wearing these kinds of shoes can have on one’s feet …

Yikes!

Keeping up with three excited boys on a family day out can’t be easy. In sky-high stilettos, Victoria Beckham didn’t even try. The mother of three never shies away from a little pain in the name of fashion. But she elevated sartorial suffering to new heights when she insisted on Christian Louboutin high heels for a trip to a theme park at the weekend. In a comfy pair of trainers or flip flops, she would have had no trouble joining in the fun at Universal Studios in Los Angeles. But as she hobbled along in her five-inch heels, her lively sons, in shorts and sensible shoes, were no doubt leaps and bounds ahead. Mrs Beckham’s poor feet looked like they needed a day out too. “Victoria’s feet looked almost out of shape,” one onlooker said. “Her toes were squashed down at the bottom of the shoe and her ankles were forced forward. The shoes even look like they were too big for her. There was a huge gap at the back.” The Beckhams were visiting the theme park so Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz could try out a free-fall simulation ride. Jeans, trainers and baseball caps were the order of the day. But Victoria likes to stand out from the crowd. And she did in her sleek black dress, oversize sunglasses and favourite Louboutins … At five inches high, Victoria Beckham’s Christian Louboutin pumps are perfectly at home on the catwalk. A day out with the children is another matter. They look even higher thanks to Mrs Beckham’s habit of choosing them a size too big. (She reportedly wears Louboutin’s notoriously narrow designs a size up for comfort). Even so, it’s difficult to imagine how anyone could walk elegantly in these for more than a moment at a time. Running after a family of boys racing for the rollercoaster would be impossible. Practicality aside, uber-towering heels are tottering to the top of fashion’s must-have list this spring. Prada’s latest high heels are so extreme that models toppled over in them at the fashion shows. But for many – Mrs Beckham included – Louboutin remains the master. His range includes heel categories of ‘very high’ and ‘total madness’.

Blah! I can only imagine what her scrunched up toes must look like after days on end of being crammed into a pair of shoes like these. To be honest, I tend to favor form over function from time to time but I simply cannot choose pain over fashion, no way. The woman does have incredible style … I just hope she doesn’t have a set of hammer toes as a result. The free falling looks fun as hell. The shoes just look like hell.

lol, and this goes to show that celebrities really DO get talked about for everything.

she’s impressed me, though, 5-inch heels at an amusement park? no thanks!

Steve Martin came out with a book years ago called “Cruel Shoes.” It was about this woman who bought the most painful pair of shoes in the store, but wore them anyway because they looked good. Someone should send a copy of Martin’s book to Beckham anonymously.

my grandmother used to wear stilletos, and now her feet are so crippled she can’t walk. her big toe crosses over her 2nd and 3rd toes, and just looking at her feet makes mine hurt. i am a stilleto free girl and my feet thank me for it!!

I totally want to do that now! (not the heels, but the flying) But, wow. $40 for a minute of flight? That is love. Lucky kids.

I can’t help but wonder what these boys are going to grow up believing about women and what is normal… like will they be shocked/horrified when their girlfriends don’t dress up in cocktail wear to go to the grocery store? Or if they have an ounce of fat on them? Or if their breasts don’t hold themselves up like torpedoes without a bra? Or if they smile when someone takes their pictures?

I do have a soft spot for Posh but I have to say I hope to God she never has a daughter. I cannot imagine the messed up body image that girl would have the rest of her life.

  9. Joanne Says:

I love Victoria – but this is just weird. Put on some jeans, a t-shirt and skechers and just enjoy yourself sister … your only young once.
