Reese Witherspoon Does ‘Elle’ Magazine
Reese Witherspoon is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Elle magazine. In her coverstory interview, the Elle interviewer tries to get Reese to talk a bit about her relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal … but she doesn’t fall for it ;) Here is Reese’s coverphoto and a portion of her interview with the mag:
On her divorce: “Very humiliating and very isolating…But, by the way, if it’s not painful, maybe it wasn’t the right decision to marry to begin with. Those are the appropriate emotions. When people get in your face and say, ‘This will pass,’ you think, Are they crazy? I’m never gonna feel any better than I feel right this minute and nothing’s ever gonna make sense again. And I still have moments where I’m like, Nothings ever gonna make sense again.”
On dealing with the pain that stems from divorce: “You see a lot of people play this blame game. Blame, blame, blame. You know? And it’s a really easy thing to do, and I’m certainly guilty of it. [You have to] look at yourself and go, ‘What part of this do I need to own? Which part of this is my responsibility? And that’s the painful work that you have to go through to hopefully get some real life knowledge out of it.”
On being a young mother: “When I first had Ava, I couldn’t afford [help]. And it was so hard. I was out in Los Angeles, living [away from my family]. I really didn’t have any friends. And I had a baby. No one else who was 22 had a baby. I couldn’t go out.”
In all honesty, Reese really strikes me as a very sweet woman … one that is entirely wrong for Jake Gyllenhaal, but a sweet woman that I quite like. She deffo strikes me as one of the more genuine actresses in Hollywood. On boyfriend, Jake Gyllenhaal: “He’s fabulous. He really is a fantastic guy. Unfortunately, he’s not in the movie, so we can’t really talk about him.”
On her reported Type A personality: “I don’t think I’m a control freak. I think I’m just fearful. I operate from a lot of fear, like, of things being lost or forgotten or neglected. Losing the spiritual rather than the physical. It’s so funny to me that somehow I’ve been portrayed as a very, like, closed-off or uptight person. I’m very open.”
On the paparazzi: “Fascination is gonna die off. I honestly know it. But it’s just like I keep waiting and waiting, and then it’s just more tabloid magazines, and it keeps going. I don’t take a shower everyday. I don’t put on makeup everyday. I wear a lot of sunglasses, in case you noticed.”
On not being diet obsessed: “I’m made of cookies after the holidays. Everything inside me is made of sugar and flour and a little red wine–a lot of red wine.”
See, I just love Reese so much more when she’s married to Ryan Phillippe … it’s a shame that celebs can’t live out their lives to our specifications. HMM, mebbe some day :) I believe the movie that Reese is promoting in this interview (the one that Jake’s “not in”) is Monsters vs. Aliens. She provides the voice of Susan/Ginormica in the 3D animated film that hits theaters at the end of this month. Again, I really do like Reese Witherspoon a lot … but I still cannot warm up to the idea of her with Jake. HMM, mebbe some day.

I love her…she always seems so down to earth. At first I thought she and Jake were an odd couple, but the more I see them photographed together, the more in love they look. Hopefully it all works out for them…she deserves a good man. Also…Reese & her daughter look so much alike…especially in that last pic!

I like her and Jake together. Not that I wasn’t a huge fan of her and Ryan but then that jackass went and cheated on her so screw that. I think Jake is sweet and laidback and more tempered to her personality judging from interviews and whatnot. I don’t see why everyone else thinks different.

Excuse me, but Ryan Philippe cheated on her. Yes, they were a good match but what is done is done; get over it. Also, sure, Jake and Reese do seem odd together but don’t opposites attract? The idea is very weird but whatever. How do we know what they’re like toghet? Oh wait, we don’t. Jake obviously cares a great deal about her and she has two kids as well which I might add not all men date women who have kids but this is Hollywood after all.

@Spencer…..TOTALLY agree with the ashley olsen comment. actually just one of the olsen twins in general. maybe its the eyeliner. but i think she looks gorgeous and it’s cool to hear her be so open about her divorce!

Never been able to understand how obsessed some people are with this woman. You do know that your impression of her is all done with carefully planned interviews and PR, don’t you? But whatever. I’m all for positive people unlike some sites that can’t wait to be self righteously hateful.

I’m not much of a fan, and she normally looks a bit freaky to me (it’s the chin, really pointy). But she looks gorgeous in these photos. I hope there wasn’t too much photoshop on them.

I think she is cute!! I am thinking Jake seems pretty happy they are still together!! I was alittle heartbroken when I saw they were together but at least someone gets to enjoy that hot ass body:) he been in some of my all time favorite movies!!

I used to like her until she hooked up with Jake—because it’s a total sham/PR driven relationship!!! He’s so totally gay! I wish he’d just come out already. Seeing that sham of a relationship and all the tabloids claiming they’re getting married just makes me sick.

hmm I didn’t see it at first but after reading these comments I: do see that she looks kind of like an Olsen.
Jake is so NOT gay guys! He’s just holding out for me!
And even though alot of her appearances and interviews are clearly staged and planned, she does seem likea genuine person. I mean really, everyone in hollywood has PR people and publicists, but not everyone comes off as nice and genuine.

Of course Jake and Reese are a PR sham. Do they grow you cooing fangirls in fangirl factories or something? Wake up! None of these people are what you think they are. And find a new catchphrase other then godamned “cute”!”
