Lindsay Lohan’s Film ‘Labor Pains’ Goes Straight To DVD
Some of you may recall that we saw many photos of Lindsay Lohan workin’ hard on the SoCal set of the film Labor Pains last Summer and it was assumed that the film would be hitting movie theaters some time this year. It turns out that that isn’t the case. It has been determined by the powers that be that Labor Pains not be shown in theaters here in the US and will, instead, be going straight to DVD … well, not exactly straight to DVD, it will first air on the basic cable network ABC Family before it hits store shelves … so that’s something, right?
Fans waiting to see Lindsay Lohan’s latest movie won’t have to leave their living rooms. Lindsay’s new film, “Labor Pains,” will not be released in theaters, Access Hollywood has learned. Instead, the comedy will premiere on ABC Family, a source for the film’s production company, Nu Image/Millennium Films, confirmed to Access. The movie will debut on the cable channel in July 2009, with a DVD release coming in August. In the film, which wrapped production in August 2008, Lindsay plays a woman who fakes being pregnant to save herself from being fired and is then forced to keep the lie going for nine months. However, the source did say the movie would hit theaters internationally. No release date was available. Lindsay was last seen on the big screen in “Chapter 27,” opposite Jared Leto. Her other recent film credits include “Georgia Rule,” “I Know Who Killed Me” and “A Prairie Home Companion.” She has reportedly lined up a new as-of-yet untitled romantic comedy, alongside Nick Cannon about a girl trying to make it in New York’s fashion world who gets set up on a date with a guy who is blind.
HMMM … it never bodes well when a production company decides to cut its losses and scrap plans of a theatrical release for a cable/DVD release … do you suppose the change has anything to do with the quality of the film? Nah, can’t be. I gotta say, tho, that the concept of her movie with Nick Cannon (where Lindsay’s character goes on an actual blind date) sounds pretty terrible, too. Might that one be headed for the USA network? Only time will tell, only time will tell.

This and the Nick Cannon movie don’t sound like interesting concepts….everything was supposed to be so promising for her when Mean Girls came out? She seems to have done a good job of shooting herself in the foot, and doesn’t seem too care too much. She just doesn’t know how to act profesionally, I read a recent report where she was talking about trying to get Seth Rogan for a movie, and she came off really horribly.

Wow that is really rough. I was hoping this would bring us back the Lindsay from Mean Girls. Maybe Seth Rogan can pull her from the depths of dispair… I don’t like to see anyone fall flat on their face like this, but I do think people have given her a lot of chances.

I kinda feel bad for her. everyone supported Britney getting her life back on track but no one has let Lindsay. They both did the same things, got into trouble and ended their careers, but we applauded Britney getting herself back, and just trash Lindsay. It seems unfair, although she did bring most of this on herself….

@ Jill – three stints in rehab is kind of a lot. I know addiction is addiction, but the way I see it is that she just did it for the hell of it. She’s made mistakes over and over again with the same repetition. I don’t believe she needs “real” help but just common sense. She’s been canceling club appearances, etc. When Britney had her fall down, she was basically already legend status and it added to her personal resume. With Lindsay being a trainwreck in so young in her career kind of just backfired.

this is so upsetting i was looking forward to seeing this now i will have to wait till august to see it.lindsay made mistakes but is learning from them people should just give her a break she is only 22.but i understand the studios decision it would have been a risk.hiopefully she will have a good chance with another movie this wasn’t ever going to be big anyway but atleast people can see her act again.love lindsay i wish her the best she deserves a chance drew barrymore and robert downey junior got their carrers back with good chances and peoples trust now thats what lindsay needs people to belive her.thanks for posting

I can’t say I’m suprised at this… I mean her last few films have not been so great and with all the drama she has in her personal life I think maybe the execs were worried that it would all overshadow the movie. To be honest the movie sounded cute, but not one I would have went to see in theaters. I think Lindsay’s acting has fallen a little by the way side in the last few years and I don’t particularly enjoy her onscreen anymore. Hopefully though the movie will do well on tv and in stores and it can renew her acting career.

I’ll still watch it – even in her bad movies, I still find her an entertaining person to watch. The problem has been the films – not her talent.

Lindsay seems to be the dumping ground for everyones hate right now – as it’s no longer fashionable to bitch about Britney or Nicole or Paris or the others .,. Lindsay’s only 22 – unlike the others, I think she has a long career ahead of her.

@ Jill Britney and Lilo are 2 very different situations. Yeah they both lost their shit at the same time however Britney and Lilo were at 2 very different points in their career. Honestly Britney could afford to have a breakdown she’s was already an established musician with millions of very crazy and loyal fans who, supported her during her breakdown and were just waiting for her to get her shit together. Where as lilo who yes was an Hollywood it girl couldn’t afford hers, she didn’t exactly have a long and established career with a legion of fans who would support her no matter what.
Honestly the biggest difference between the 2 of them is that Britney put a lot of effort and hard work into getting her career back to where it was. How many countless number of videos and pixs did we all see of Britney at the gym, at the recording studio and at dance practice looking worn out and exhausted yet happy. I as were millions of ppl were more than proud of her and happy to support and help her climb her way back to the top were she so rightfully belongs. Were as lilo who hasn’t done shit unless following Sam to night clubs, starting a legging and spray tan line, that whole ugly betty drama, and looking ano which to a lot of ppl means she’s back on drugs; somehow means she wants to be an actress again, I mean really what has she done that her fans and well wishers could support ???
Personally tho the biggest difference between the 2 for me is that Britney while she didn’t really explain why she did what she did. She fucking owned up to doing it, yeah people helped but she made this mess and she owned up too it and I fucking respect that. while lilo has and continues to blame everyone and anything for her problems, going so far as to blame her fans for her failing career and really after that I can’t see why anyone would want to support her I know I don’t.
