Uh oh! It would seem that not even the princess of reality television is immune from the effects of the struggling US economy … according to Page Six, Lauren LC Conrad was forced to put her clothing line, The Lauren Conrad Collection, on “hiatus” due to the fact that no one is buying. As a result, LC has decided to halt production of future designs and rather revamp the line for possible relaunch later on in the future:

LAUREN Conrad’s clothing line is on hiatus until further notice. Los Angeles sources say the MTV reality starlet, who’s wrapping up her last season on “The Hills,” won’t be producing any more seasons of her Lauren Conrad Collection, which launched in fall 2007. Some showrooms got a message from her camp saying, “In light of the economic climate, Lauren has decided to completely rethink her line.” As a result, shipment of the last spring and summer delivery has been canceled, the memo said. Page Six previously reported that the line wasn’t moving in stores like Kitson and Bloomingdale’s. “Lauren is going to revamp her line and design with more high-end fabrics . . . things she couldn’t do the first time around,” a source close to Conrad said. Her rep told us, “With everything going on in the economy and in her life, she wants to rework her line and offerings. She will make announcements soon.”
Not that LC really needs any more money but I’m sure it’s a bit stressful to have a huge venture like this struggle and flail to the point where the decision has to be made to pull the plug and cut one’s losses. It’s entirely possible that The Lauren Conrad Collection might return one day with new fashions to sell but it’s also very possible that the line could go the way of the Heidiwood Collection (Heidi Montag‘s clothing line) and be dunzo for good. LC‘s rep says that she will “make announcements soon” so we may be giving the line a hearty Peace the Spork Out very soon. What do y’all think … are we sad for LC‘s loss?

Don’t quit your day job, LC… OOPS!
Here’s a hint: LOWER YOUR PRICES!!!
I was actually just on her clothing website last week and could not get over the price of the items!! IT WAS UNREAL!!! Does she actually expect her fans to spend that kind of money on poor quality clothes?? We’re just average joe’s over here, LC….give us a break!!
Ok so she wants to revamp the line for a high end buyer… when the economy is so poor that even high end buyers have to watch what they do… yes that idea TOTALLY makes sense! I agree with the majority of the people on here… lower the prices and make them affordable for the average early-twenties girl… who generally doesn’t have much money! Her clothes are cute but I would never buy something that expensive to wear out, only to have people spill drinks and what-have-you all night. Think this through woman!
Honestly, the lauren conrad collection has some cute clothing but it is all way overpriced and has already been done. It has basic pieces many people already own, i would understand the prices if it were made of good quality materials but from what i hear they are not. I think Lauren probably assumed that an older hipper audience would wear her clothing but people that are into high fashion and wear designer labels don’t watch the hills or would understand why she is even famous. She generally has some nice clothes but she could have been more original and i guess it all depends on what her vision is and what she was trying to go for. I have seen countless episodes of the hills and laguna beach, and her style has always remained loose clothing and flip flops so i think she should rethink her vision and realize that she need s to realize how much experience and struggle, and trial and error is involved in having your own line. I hope she succeds and that her clothing line will progress. But remember that talent also comes with experience and training and age.
The clothing styles are cute but the quality of the clothes are really bad
