Lauren Conrad’s Clothing Line Is Dunzo?
Poor sales reportedly cause the line to go on "hiatus"

Uh oh! It would seem that not even the princess of reality television is immune from the effects of the struggling US economy … according to Page Six, Lauren LC Conrad was forced to put her clothing line, The Lauren Conrad Collection, on “hiatus” due to the fact that no one is buying. As a result, LC has decided to halt production of future designs and rather revamp the line for possible relaunch later on in the future:

LAUREN Conrad’s clothing line is on hiatus until further notice. Los Angeles sources say the MTV reality starlet, who’s wrapping up her last season on “The Hills,” won’t be producing any more seasons of her Lauren Conrad Collection, which launched in fall 2007. Some showrooms got a message from her camp saying, “In light of the economic climate, Lauren has decided to completely rethink her line.” As a result, shipment of the last spring and summer delivery has been canceled, the memo said. Page Six previously reported that the line wasn’t moving in stores like Kitson and Bloomingdale’s. “Lauren is going to revamp her line and design with more high-end fabrics . . . things she couldn’t do the first time around,” a source close to Conrad said. Her rep told us, “With everything going on in the economy and in her life, she wants to rework her line and offerings. She will make announcements soon.”

Not that LC really needs any more money but I’m sure it’s a bit stressful to have a huge venture like this struggle and flail to the point where the decision has to be made to pull the plug and cut one’s losses. It’s entirely possible that The Lauren Conrad Collection might return one day with new fashions to sell but it’s also very possible that the line could go the way of the Heidiwood Collection (Heidi Montag‘s clothing line) and be dunzo for good. LC‘s rep says that she will “make announcements soon” so we may be giving the line a hearty Peace the Spork Out very soon. What do y’all think … are we sad for LC‘s loss?

Its not selling because who wants to look like a cheap version of Lauren Conrad in her overpriced clothes? NOBODY. The hills is over now its all about The City, ive even forgotten who spencer is.

  2. Mr. Gyllenhaal says:

I thought it was doing really well for a while…so it probably is the economy! I mean Heidi’s club crap bombed at that cheap store she was selling at. I think LC will come out with a stronger collection when the time is right!

  3. TJ says:

I actually loved her line. The designs were great and the fabrics were amazing! so soft!

  4. Blair says:

P.S. Even the model looks terrible in the clothes in that picture, the hair doesnt help either.

  5. Carolyn says:

Praise jebus! Let’s all dance in the streets!

  6. Ibby says:

I ordered a scarf from her collection when it first came out…..it was awful quality. All of her things feel cheap and don’t hold up well- I’m not surprised that people stopped buying- for those prices you expect a quality good.

  7. Lili says:

I find the economy excuse a little confusing…it’s in trouble, so she wants to use more expensive fabrics?

  8. Blair says:

Over the economy excuse, the current people who are buying her clothes proberly cant afford them now so she is going to appeal to the high end fashion crowd who are not troubled by the recession. Yeah like their going to buy them.

  9. nicole says:

I like her line!!! i m not sure about the quality.. but i hope it comes to MALAYSIA!!!! not too expensive pls! lol.

  11. Bald Outing says:

    I’m not surprised.

  12. Belle says:

I think her clothes were cute, but she should have gone the more budget-friendly route. Her prices were kinda high for what are pretty basic pieces.

  13. jill says:

Yes Belle you’re right! I think Trent said the same thing when the line first came out — her prices were way to high for the type of crowd who is familiar with her name and her style. I thought the stuff was very cute, but waaay to overpriced for such simple pieces. Girlfriend needs to rethink — not higher quality, lower prices. duh!

    it’s for the best.

I don’t see why some of you are even bitching about her clothing line in the first place. I mean, if you didn’t like her designs then you obviously didn’t buy them, correct? So what’s the big deal? Seriously. Anyways I found her clothing line to be very simple but ridiculously overpriced. You can get similar clothes at Forever 21 and pay a lot less. I think Lauren thought if she marked her prices high then it would be considered “high fashion” and what not. She should have marked her clothing line down at a reasonable price because most of her followers are between 13-27 and not all of them have $$$$$$$$$$ like Miss Conrad.

  16. carolina says:

OFCOURSE NO ONE IS BUYING. SHE CHARGES LIKE $100 DOLLARS FOR THE DUMBEST THING!!!!

she does have cute clothes but she needs to lower her prices, their ridiculous!

LOL I’m glad it tanked. She doesn’t deserve to be labeled as a fashion designer. These are all basic pieces with no creativity or imagination put into the process of creating them. Plus, they were ridiculously overpriced. You can find the same things in Forever21 for even less than half the price this bitch was charging. She needs to get her head out of her ass and learn what a RECESSION is!

  19. Fashionista says:

She needs to make her bloody prices bloody lower.
Its the BLOODY RECESSION. Shett man.
Just because you are a reality star and all that, does not mean you gotta tank up them prices. Nice clothes, but effing high ass prices.
