John Mayer Sets Sail On His Lurve Boat

Brings along 3,000 of his closest fans
March 28th, 2009

John Mayer hit the high seas with a boatload of fans, literally, as his Mayercraft Carrier 2 sailed out on its second annual 4-day cruise from California to Mexico yesterday. As you may recall, last year Mayer word a Borat-inspired green mankini thong on the cruise to the delight/horror of his Mayercraft passengers but this year he had something a bit different in store for his guests … but we’ll get to that in moment. Here are a few photos of John’s first performance aboard the Mayercraft Carrier yesterday … you will note that John opted for nice, see-thru tank top so that all could get a nice peek at his nips:

I have to admit, this cruise thing sounds really fun and I’m sure it’s a real treat for John Mayer fans to get to enjoy a cruise with him. The fact that he performs every single night is just … brilliant! I’m not a huge John Mayer fan musically (tho, I do like many of his songs) but I can see how big fans would love an event like this. Trust me, if Tori Amos did this sort of thing you better believe I’d be there year after year.

To welcome his guests aboard his ship this year, John wore an extra special outfit for the occasion. After the jump, check out the getup that he wore on board yesterday to get the party started …

Hahahaha! Not too shabby … not too shabby at all. Tho, if Jennifer Aniston hadn’t reportedly broken up with him over his obsessive Twitter habits, the sight of him in these short shorts might’ve done the trick. I do love that John Mayer is such a good sport. You gotta hand it to the guy, he seems really fun. Love him or hate him, John Mayer does his thing and he has as much fun with his celebrity as he can. I have to respect the man for that. I may not always agree with his take on things but I do appreciate his sense of humor. Oh and by the way, his legs ain’t half bad. I think they may actually be nicer than Jake Gyllenhaal’s.

How come I’ve never heard of this? I wish more musicians would/could/want to do something like this…. oh, and that outfit is hysterical.

  2. Bruce Says:

I love John Mayer!! He is so sexy :)

  3. Gabrielle Says:

    Well hello there Captain Stubing!

  4. Kent Says:

    Julie McBoy!

Geez.. this guy is a dork, seriously, grow up already! It’s cool to be funny and not take everything so serious, but he is constantly talking out of his ass and making a fool of himself and it doesnt amuse me at all.
It is obviously cool the idea of taking your fans on a cruise and singing for them every night; it would be great if more musicians would do that but… I dont think mr mayer is doing it because he looves his fans, he is a media whore and loooves attention.

haha he does seem to have a great sense of humor…but i heard he is also a bit of a man-whore. I feel as though if Jen hadn’t broken up with him before this trip, something would have happened on board that caused it.

I love John. He is an AMAZING musician, he is one of the best guitar players of our time. He’s also a douche bag and he knows it and he makes fun of himself for it. You have to hand it to the guy. His thought process is “well, I’m famous, mine as well have fun with it rather than complain about being fallowed around”
I wish more celebs would act like that and have fun with their celebrity status rather than complain and shy away from a lifestyle they chose to pursue.

I agree with Trent, although he sometimes says things that are really just stupid, he does gives a lot to his fans. They’re spoilt! It’s great. And he’s bloody talented too!

  9. Brenda Says:

I agree with Emily and Kat—although sometimes I feel like he’s kind of a douche and an asshole, I kinda can’t help but like him. He seems really fun and doesn’t take things too seriously. It seems like it’d be cool to hang out with him cause you know you’d have a good time. He’s also pretty hot. He’s totally my type too–tall, dark hair, smart, and funny.

The only other musician(s) I know of that go on a cruise with their fans is New Kids on the Block. I know their cruise is coming up. If I could afford it and I had a friend or too that’d go with me, I’d totally go. I saw New Kids in concert back in November and had a total blast. But man, to go on a cruise and see them every night…I don’t know if my little girl inside heart could take it.

I wish I could afford to go! He’s just an amazing guy…and an amazingly misunderstood guy, too. I adore him, his talent and his sense of humor.

  11. la princesa Says:

Oh yeah…and his legs do look great. Cap’n Stubbing, yeah? Soooo…is that Isaac behind him in the last pic?

  12. Keith Says:

Trent, can we work together to contact Tori’s people and make a Tori cruise a reality?

  13. Kathi Says:

If anyone is interested, the company that does this cruise is called Sixthman. In addition to the John Mayer cruise, they have several others, including the Rockboat (therockboat.com), a Barenaked Ladies cruise, and several others…

My husband and I have been on 6 or 7 of the Rockboats – for music fans, it definitely qualifies as the best vacation you’ll ever take!

  14. Anna Says:

bestweekever.tv follows the Mayercraft Cruise pretty heavily, it sounds like a ton of fun! Last year they had a theme for each night and one of them was 80’s prom night. John Mayer at one of his concerts also sang Britney Spears “Piece of Me.”

  15. Jennie Says:

This really was the best vacation ever. John and the rest of the artists kicked ass. There was live music nearly 24/7 and it completely rocked! I highly recommend it for any fans.
