i think if they don’t want to get married theres no reason for it. there still young, and if there in love thats what really matters. there a happy couple that are both raising their daughter and the fact that their together is enough.

To me it seems like its a way to protect themselves financially and it saves a lot of time if they split because this way they don’t have to go through the hassle of divorce they cah just break up and that be that and if they don’t get married then she doesn’t owe him anything money wise and all he’ll owe her is child support if she gets custody of their daughter.

Just because people have a child together doesnt mean they should get married. If you don’t love someone you shouldnt get married . you don’t have to love the parent of the child to love your child. It would be nice if more people did it the old fashioned way but life doesnt always work out that way. I did fall in love got married then had a baby but i seem to be in the minority these days

Trent – I’m curious as to your comment about them “putting off the wedding until they are ready to make a serious commitment to one another” ….. As far as I know they are living together (in a home they own) and are raising a child. Age problem aside, haven’t they already made the biggest commitment?

I think she’s made a good decision. She’s only 17 and while she does have a baby that is still no reason to walk down the aisle despite what others may think. I’d rather get married for all the right reasons, child or no child, and live a long and happy life with my significant other than get married because people think it’s the right thing to do and end up in a loveless relationship and divorced. Good for her, learning that maturing and becoming an adult doesn’t necessarily mean doing all of the adult things.

I also out of the belief that you should only get married when you are ready for it to be “forever.”

These two are way too young to know that so I commend them for wanting to wait. Hopefully this way they will have avoided staying together “for the kid” and will have a less messy breakup should that day come.
