One of James Franco‘s fellow classmates at Columbia University managed to snap a photo of Mr. Franco after he appears to have fallen asleep during one of his lectures … and then immediately sent the photo off to TMZ:
My guess is that the poor guy was dreaming of acing his next exam, yeah! While this photo is so full of LOL you have to admit that we’ve all nodded off during lectures at one point or other in our scholastic pasts. Shoot, my first 2-hour class my Freshman year of college was a Developmental Psychology class that I slept in all the time. As a result, I changed my major from psychology to political science … and then became a professional blogger. See … things happen for a reason. If Franco keeps sleeping his way thru his classes, mebbe he can go back to acting?

I would shudder to think of all the photos of me sleeping in almost every one of my classes that would be floating around right now if I were famous! Come on, this is the real university experience!!

I teach, and honestly, I’d be more upset with the person taking the picture than the one who fell asleep!
@Ashley – all it shows is that early classes suck, lol! I slept through most of mine and finished a double degree with an 80% average!
LOL! Love it. I used to fall asleep in school all the time. Not on purpose, but it happens! Thank God I’m not famous, though! Poor James!

totally agree. James is doing something good for himself, he doesn’t need to do it, he is the hottest actor in hollywood right noe, yhet he choses to attend college, he’s probably just tired because he was up all night finishing an essay.

Ashley, i agree with the above comment. Whatever you miss in class (may it be cause you fell asleep or you skipped it for whatever reason), you can catch up by reading the textbook, powerpoints, or a friend’s notes.
it’s so easy to fall asleep in a class if the professor is not very good. most professors are extremely smart, but can’t teach a damn.
Obviously I like gossip and pictures of celebrities, but I really think posting this kind of photo is a bit much. He’s in a classroom, not a public street. Leave the dude alone. No wonder they all go insane, if there’s absolutely NO WHERE they can expect any modicom of privacy.
Can’t blame him! He’s concurrently enrolled at NYU Film School, too, for his Masters!

A few weeks ago I fell asleep in class and my teacher slammed her textbook on my table and I woke up, scared, and I had a piece of paper stuck to my face because of drool. Now that was embarrassing.

ah this takes me back. But sleeping in class only works in a big lecture hall and not in a class of under 20 students. I know this from experience. The teacher sure knew my name after that day!
This is just as obnoxious as that tool who snapped the photo of Michael Phelps taking a bong hit, but fortunately for James sleeping in class isn’t illegal.
I feel the same way every 3 hour lecture I have….except I usually have my head on the desk….
