Earlier this morning, at 11AM ET/8AM PT, Britney.com premiered the new music video for Britney Spears‘s third single off her latest album Circus. As you may recall, a few weeks ago we got our first look at photos of Britney on the set of her video for If U Seek Amy and right now we get to see the final product in full. Here are a few screencaps from the video:
This new video isn’t as involved as her previous videos for Circus and Womanizer. While those videos focused on multiple shot angles, routines and extraneous characters (like circus animals, acrobats and womanizers) this video focuses squarely on Britney, or her Amy character. The video starts initially with a faux news report that features a conservative-looking woman seemingly reporting on the “obscene spelling” that is showcased in the new Britney Spears song If U Seek Amy (which is based on a real FOX News report that came out a few weeks ago) and then cuts to a dark hotel-looking room with Britney on a bed with a bunch of people. She sexily dances with folks thruout the “hotel” and then does a quick change midway thru the video and emerges from a “perfect house” as a picture-perfect conservative-looking housewife (complete with husband, kids and apple pie). It seems to me that the point of the video is to suggest that what you see on the outside isn’t necessarily what really exists on the inside. The same conservative-minded folks who are publicly protesting and lambasting “deviant” behavior and actions (ranging from anything like obscene lyrics to racy music videos, for example) are prolly not as squeaky clean cut as they’d prolly have you believe. At the end of the video, when she presents the wholesome apple pie to the press, she seems to be saying “This is what you want me to be so this is what I’m going to give you” knowing full well that on the inside she’s a freak. At least, that is my interpretation. While I am deffo more a fan of the more upbeat songs that feature killer dance routines, I can appreciate music videos with a message. I doubt that Britney is trying to save the world or even make a serious point with this video … it appears that she is having a bit of fun with the folks who like to point fingers and judge others by reminding us that no one is as perfect that they’d like you think they are. So … thoughts? What do y’all think of this vid?

Sorry even after the explanation i dont think this song and video gel. And its not exactly like she is making some amazing statement is it? I do still love the song though.

Hm…I think that they’ve got the concept behind the video right, but play order is all wrong. It kind of misses the angle they’re going for, or maybe I’ve missed the angle. I guess it’s supposed to be about what goes on behind closed doors and what’s ‘real’ and all that jazz. Shouldn’t they have had more of a play on the character roles and the change in the two Britneys, as it stands, theres not enough of the Mummy Britney for it to make enough sense with the freak Britney. If that made any sense. I know what I mean in my head. LOL. Anyway, it’a g ood vid. She looks great and I’m loving the red shoes!!!
Britney and her team need to come up with something different the FAKE ORGY been done in other videos and on her tour.

Britney should really get over the whole paparazzi thing. She begs for attention. Maybe, if she hadn’t made such a big deal about being “squeaky clean” in the beginning it wouldn’t be such an issue that she’s a total freak now. I’m sure her kids are going to be real proud when they grow up to see their mother is a two bit whore, selling pictures of her coochy off to the highest bidder for laughs hahaha.
@Jen, Britney didn’t make a big deal of being ‘squeaky clean.’ You can blame Disney and her record company for that. She was a teenage, and though she was naturally aware of her sexuality, they took advantage of her and her family to achieve their same agenda: lots and lots o’ money. I’m not saying Britney is 100% innocent, as she has sought out attention before (she’s a performer, and as Madonna once said, “all performers are exhibitionists, admitted or not”). However, to call her a “two bit whore” is extreme. Her sons will be proud to grow up and see how many hoops she jumped through to spend time with them and take care of them. They won’t be proud of silly people on the internet making snide comments at her. But then again, will they even care about the media???
Her hair in the last part bothers me. Her roots are terrible. Is that on purpose?
Very symbolic of how the media portray her/ want to portray her…and how someone can hide behind a false image LOVE it…very simple video but I think it gives it greater punch. I think Jake Nava did a fabulous job directing and I loves Britney’s treatment idea. One way or another we all have an idea of who she is etc and for her to be able to feed off that and even mock it I think is awesome!!
Ahud, Britney ran around for YEARS insisting that she was a christian and a virgin. Give me a break. It wasn’t til timberlake outted her that she let it all go and lost her damn mind. And i don’t consider getting hooked on drugs, losing your mind, shaving your head, acting a fool and losing your children “Jumping through hoops” to spend time with them. If she wanted to spend so much time with them maybe instead partying without her undies on she should have been…spending time with her damn kids? You don’t see Xtina or nicole ritchie losing their kids. Sometimes you have to grow up and its obvious by her new album and all her new skank videos that she doesn’t have any intention of doing so. Let me tell you, if i saw pictures of my mother running around naked talking about how everyone wanted to f- her i’d probably be a little embarrassed. So i highly doubt her kids will be like “My mom lost her mind on national television and then flashed her tits to everyone who’d throw a dollar her way!” she’s nothing more than a high class stripper with a microphone.
The first beats of this song reminds me of her song Lucky. Somehow, I do not like the clip that much. She looks hot in the black outfit though.
love this song and the video. screw fox news. it’s about time parents start parenting and OBSERVE what their children are watching/doing.
