David Beckham Endorses A New Motorola Mobile Phone

Anyone interested in a $2,000 phone?
March 5th, 2009

David Beckham, who will be staying in Milan, Italy for the next couple of months in order to continue playing with AC Milan, was spotted making his exit from a new Motorola photoshoot earlier this week gabbing on the company’s newest luxury mobile phone … which he will be endorsing in a new ad campaign that is scheduled to hit the market in a few weeks. Here is Becks and his shiny new Motorola AURA mobile phone … which will cost mere mortals a cool $2,000 to own for themselves:

I understand that the edgy and provocative new ad campaign is Becks’s next step to further entrench himself as a style icon. Considering that the Motorola AURA will retail for $2,000 due to its high quality design and materials, here’s hopin’ for the company’s sake that the ads can do the trick:

The specs on the phone are pretty impressive … it’s the first mobile phone that is able to display up to 16 million colors, the gears on the flip hinge are coated with Tungsten Carbide and the lens is made out of a 62-carat sapphire crystal. Basically, the phone is the definition of posh, as it were. A fancy phone like this prolly means that Becks is pullin’ in a fancy paycheck to endorse it. At least with all his public whining about wanting to stay in Milan rather than faithfully fulfilling his original contract with the LA Galaxy, he still manages to make sure that his major endorsement deals are paid heed to. I ain’t gonna lie, the phone looks and sounds pretty sweet … I guess I just wish he’d use it to call his bosses at the Galaxy to tell them that he’s decided to come home to SoCal where he belongs ;)

  2. Rhonda Says:

In this economy I would be ashamed to carry around (nay-flaunt?) a $2000 phone! It’s cool and all that, but REALLY???!!! $2000???!!!

  3. Megan Says:

  4. Jadedkitten Says:

  5. Kelsey Says:

if people are willing to pump $2000 into the economy by buying such a phone wheres the problem? really dont get people who are like “how can they be buying expensive stuff in times like these” – thats what the economy needs!!!! someone had ago at posh the other day for driving around in a bentley – if people like the beckhams stopped buying expensive cars then all those people employed to make those cars would be out of a job!!! god some people round here really need to step away from the internet and go get an education!

  6. Mr. Gyllenhaal Says:

Who needs a 2,000 dollar phone! STUPID!!!

  7. Winona Says:

Also echoing what Rhonda said – but I have a feeling those who can afford a $2,000 phone in the first place really aren’t affected by the current state of economic affairs (unless they had their money with Bernie Madoff, of course).

  8. Anna Says:

when will motorola get over making crappy ugly phones?

  9. christine Says:

who would buy this? oh wait, maybe becks will with all that money he is getting from LA galaxy and is now taking off for milan! loser

  10. Grayson Says:

The clock face with the huge numbers reminds me of a phone that an older person who has difficulty seeing would use…is that just me?

  11. MJ Says:

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Motorola had a phone like this (design wise, not capability wise) out in like 2001 or something with T-mobile. I wanted 1 because it looked so cool compared to the other phones out, but when I went to buy it everyone was at the store returning/replacing/repairing it because it was so poorly built : (. Hope they got that fixed, but I doubt that. Needless to say the price is ridiculous and I fear that people will be receiving a fashionable piece of junk.

  12. Katie Says:

Yeah, maybe the quality should match the price before they market it.

  13. Katt Says:

ok, really? who would pay that much for a phone? no matter how cool? i guess when you’re famous and gots loads of cash, but really, i don’t many others will buy it…..

  14. Chella Says:

@ MJ when you were gonna buy said phone in 2001 what was the price? I just would feel crappy to have a 2000.00$ phone its just insane, but it does sound cool!!!

  15. kelsey Says:

well becks wont be paying for one, they sponsor him. he gets one for free!

  16. canuck Says:

meh, it’s just a phone. don’t need it. it’s ugly anyway. nice to see a recent pic of Becks though. thanks Trent.
