and as far as it being her fault the 1st time no. but anytime after she is just as much at fault. im not condoning what he did by any means i think he should be put in a stockade and beat himself but she is making a conscious choice to go back to someone who beat her just like he made the conscious choice to do it. i dont care how much in love she thinks she is she is making the choice to go back to a fucking coward that she personally knows beats women.

While I’m totally appalled to read Rhianna’s account of what happened that night, I’m almost just as appalled to read the reactions that some people have had to the situation. It literally makes me sick to read people’s comments that she deserved it if she’s going back to it or that she’s stupid to go back, etc. Attitudes like this allow abusive behaviors to continue. For everyone saying that she is a disgrace to all of her fans and to all women who will now think that it is okay to go back to an abusive partner… your words are just as hurtful. Most likely a person who is an abusive intimate relationship is going to return to that relationship or has returned to that relationship regardless of what Rhianna chooses to do… however reading comments such as these will most likely make them feel ashamed for doing so and continue to lower their self esteem which does not give them the motivation to get out of the abuse.

Intimate partner violence is NOT a clear cut situation. It is not as simple as ‘my partner abuses me, I’m going to leave” It’s horrible, but it is the truth. Many people stay because they do not have the financial resources to leave, for Rhianna this probably isn’t true but that does not make it any easier to leave. Abusers are controlling and manipulative. They will isolate their partner from their friends and family and make it very very difficult to leave. A lot of the time they will appear like the nicest person to people outside of the relationship. And they will shower the person with apologies and gifts and promises to never do it again. It’s a cycle and it’s very very difficult to break out of.

Also, it may very well be Rhianna’s safest option at the moment to remain in the relationship. The most dangerous point in an abusive relationship is when a person decides to leave because the abuser is losing their control. The majority of intimate partner homicides happen when the person being abused decides to leave. The same goes for why Rhianna might not have fought back while they were in the car… it’s a survival tactic. Often not reacting is the way to incur the least amount of harm… the same reason why animals will play dead. It’s not fight or flight… it’s really fight, flight or freeze.

What Rhianna needs right now is support and encouragement. She needs to hear that it is not her fault and that she is a strong woman. Only she can make the decision to leave this relationship and only when she is ready.

It makes me sick to my stomach to read what she went through that night. Even more so, to know that after all of that she could forgive him and take him back. I just don’t get it. From what I read I really doubt this is the first time he’s done this, and I know it won’t be the last. Makes me angry to think that other girls facing a similar situation of domestic violence could be reading this and thinking “well if she could forgive him, I guess I could too”. Ugh, I’m so disgusted by both of them.

First, Chris Brown is a douche as my name states, for hitting women. Second, he was heard saying it was all good when one of his body guards asked him what he thought about his hearing, and showed no sign of remorse for what he did. I hope he does get charged for what he did and gets the 56 months of jail time.

As for Rhianna, Are you the stupidest dumbass ever? He beats the hell out of you, and you forgive him? Not to mention this isn’t the first time he beat the shit out of you? Woman beater and dumbass woman…seems like a good match for me! One likes to beat women, the other likes being beat.

He should be put in jail for this. Prove a point to all the kids and adults that like him and teach men AND women that this kind of thing is not okay. use him as an example for the rest of the world, and if its turns out that she is lying, use her for an example because there are to many court cases that people lie and get away with it and then there are the ones that they think you are lying but you are not and someone gets wrongfully charged.

argh. i really don’t get it. in the beginning i was raelly on the fence with these two. i honestly thought that people were jumping to conclusions, and that while i TOTALLY agree that no one has a right to touch another person… maaaybe just maybe, rihanna was either ‘asking for it’ or had faked it in one way or another. coz you don’t know what REALLY happened………. THEN when news spread that the two of them were back together i felt like it just reinforced that idea. but NOW after reading thatttt….. oh man. it really doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. i can’t even look at chris brown the same way anymore. hes disgusting. and shes stupid for even considering being with him again after that.

I’m torn on this..while I completely agree that Chris is in the wrong and it’s bullshizz that he would do this. Because as far I can tell, her story corroborates with her injuries and CB hasn’t made an attempt to give his side of the story, in fact he’s only issued a weak apology for this whole ordeal. Meaning he did do it.

Let’s see what Chris Brown’s version says before everyone jumps to conclusions about him being the scum of the Earth. Rihanna’s version sounds a little one-sided – not to say it is not true – but I suspect there was probably more to the story (unless Brown is really just a psycho). If you read the document, you’ll see that Brown essentially continued punching Rihanna for the entire time (if that were true she would still be in hospital right now), including while driving with one hand and while she managed to use the phone and text people. Still, even if just half of that were true he deserves to go to prison, and Rihanna’s an idiot for sticking with him.
