Chris Brown Has Been Charged With 2 Felonies
The LA prosecutor’s office has decided to charge singer Chris Brown with 2 felonies on the grounds that he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend Rihanna in the early hours of February 8 just hours before the both of them were to perform at the Grammy Awards later that night. Despite the presumed fact that Rihanna has decided to reconcile with her alleged attacker, the prosecutor’s office has decided to move forward with their case against him. Here is a photo of Brown making his way out of a recording studio here in LA at around 5AM this morning and the deets about the criminal charges he is now facing:

Singer Chris Brown was charged on Thursday with felony assault and making a criminal threat after an alleged attack on his girlfriend, the singer Rihanna. Brown, 19, will appear in court on Thursday, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office said. He could face up to four years in prison if convicted of the two felonies. Prosecutors said he attacked Rihanna the night before the Grammy Awards last month. Rihanna, 21, whose real name is Robyn Fenty, was referred to in the official complaint as “Robyn F.” She had not previously been identified by authorities as the victim. The charges were filed a week after Brown and Rihanna, who dated for about a year, were reported by celebrity magazines to have reconciled.
I understand the LA District Attorney felt he had enough evidence to charge Brown with these crimes even taking into consideration that Rihanna may choose to NOT testify against him. According to a local FOX affiliate report here in SoCal, a detective’s notes from the time of the incident contain very damaging information against Chris Brown and may be part of the prosecutor’s case against him. After the jump, find out what is reportedly recorded in this detective’s field notes …
A detective’s notes from the scene of the alleged Rihanna assault reportedly reveal disturbing details about what happened between the singer and her boyfriend Chris Brown in the early hours of Feb. 8. According to FOX 11 in Los Angeles, which claims to have obtained the notes from a search warrant in the case, Rihanna, 21, read a lengthy text message from a woman on Brown’s phone, which led to an argument. Brown – who has a standing court date Thursday – allegedly tried to force his girlfriend out of the Lamborghini, and hit her head against the passenger window. Brown, 19, then punched the singer while still driving, according to the detective’s notes, and blood filled Rihanna’s mouth. He allegedly told her, “I’m going to beat the —- out of you when we get home.” Rihanna called her assistant and left a message saying, “I am on my way home. Make sure the cops are there when I get there.” The police notes say that prompted Brown to reply: “You just did the stupidest thing ever. I’m going to kill you.” The report also says that Brown bit Rihanna and put her in a headlock, and that she almost lost consciousness.
If this report about these notes is true or even close to true, the District Attorney must have other damaging evidence against Chris Brown … which is surely why these charges have been leveled against him. The mention of blood seems to corroborate those photos we saw this week that were reportedly shot inside Chris’s rented car. It remains to be seen if a plea bargain can be worked out between Brown and the prosecutor’s office but I’m sure there will be more to come from this ever-evolving incident.

Good but he’s not going to jail. I wish he would tho

wow…i am glad he is being charged with felonies. that is just horrible.

That’s so horrible, sickening and so so sad if its true. Ugh just makes me want to throw up.

PUT HIS ASS IN JAIL!!! I can’t even understand why RIRI would get back with him. This is such a bad message to send out to all her and his teen fans!

The details just get more and more shocking everyday. He truly is a monster. if he does go to prison it will be for 82mins, betcha.
Wanker deserves life.

Gosh, that is so terrible. :(

Wow, over HER reading a text message on his phone from another woman?? I shudder to think what he would’ve done if he had found some text on HER phone. Either way, it’s a ridiculous thing to spill blood over. Chris Brown is SO NOT a gentleman!!!!!!!

She used to wrestle with her brothers growing up I heard. It’s common for those who have some sort of physical violence as simple as that can engage in this type of relationship and end up back in it. It’s a real shame that it happened in her case. I never liked Chris Brown but now I am sickened that someone who would do something like that to an individual, any individual, would be this famous.

he totally deserves to go to jail. there is no reason he should be offered a plea bargain. there’s a special place in hell for guys that beat up their girlfriends.

Thank you Trent, for continuing to remind people just what it is that this “guy who deserves a break” REALLY did. What sickens me THE MOST about this case, is that people hear these details and then STILL DEFEND Brown. I’m at a loss for how he is anything BUT a violent criminal who deserves equal punishment to EVERY OTHER VIOLENT CRIMINAL: prison.

This is disturbing and upsetting. He bit her and put her in a headlock while driving?? Even if that is not the case it is obvious he did seriously harm her, over her jealousy/suspicions he was cheating no less. And yet she is willing to forgive him? I don’t think this is a wise (or well thought out) choice. I hope for her sake she proves me wrong. Or that they just send him to jail. The idea of being with someone who should be in jail for such a horrendous assault on someone is bad enough, but when you’re the one assaulted its even more painfully obvious you shouldn’t be together.

I really wish that he spends years in jail- but sadly I don’t think he will.
If he gets jail time I’m throwing a “Enjoy Bubba, Chris Brown” party at my apartment in College Park, MD. Everyone is welcome! ;)

Can someone please explain to me why everyone keeps assuming that Rihanna has any marbles? Singing and dancing don’t require much upstairs. Why should we expect her to make a thoughtful decision? I’m afraid that it’s exactly people such as Rihanna why we need a judicial system–to help protect people who cannot or will not protect themselves.

I hope someone pulls an intervention on her so she realizes she needs to take steps to distance herself from this youngster. Chris needs an intervention so he understands what he did was not just some “mistake” or he will continue to escalate until a serious injury or death happens.
Unfortunately I think they’re both being advised by individuals with dollar signs stuck in their eyes.

If that report is true, then he is a very sick person. He might also have been cheating on her or possibly planning to if the TXT was such that as to cause such a furore. I have also lost a little respect for Rihanna for going back to him. She’s only 21, could get any decent guy and yet she would give CB another chance? Idiot. No love is that true.

i hope chris is reading this so he can see me say “suck it, chris! you are a little b-tch if you beat up women! i hope someone puts you in your place and shows you how real men handle their business. the fact that you flipped over a text message just shows you’re an unfaithful punk filled with guilt and anger!”
she can do tons better. sadly everyone knows this but her.
:(
men who abuse women do not change. i have watched it happen to my mom all my life. it’s not right, and i can’t understand why beautiful, strong and hardworking women put up with it.

OMG! this is just making me appreciate my kind, considerate, loving husband even more than i already do! It is so sad that there is this kind of hateful behavior out there….as the mother of two boys, i am aware every day of the importance of guiding them into the men that i hope they will someday be!
March 5th, 2009 at 12:24 pm
i dont understand why they cant subpoena her to testify in court to confirm/deny any statements she made that night – they’re not married so she cant refuse on the basis of not wanting to incriminate him
March 5th, 2009 at 12:37 pm
I think that Rihanna is dumb for going back, but then again I understadn why. I had freinds do the same thing, its difficult to tell them not to be with that person when they love them and been with them so long. NOW Rihanna is not even staying in contact with her family!!!! OMG!!!! Well I for one have boycotted Chris Brown’s music (not that i listened to is casue his music is stupid, but when it comes on im going to change the station…he needs to go to jail and let him be someone bitch.

Since he is a celebrity, he is mostly likely not going to serve any time for his felonies! I don’t understand how celebrities should be treated any differently than the rest of us when it comes down to the law. Could you imagine how much time we would serve if we did something like that? Celebs probably mess with the law because they know they will either get off scott free or get a slap on the wrist at the most.
Do they think jail time will kill his reputation? because honestly, it has already been somewhat ruined. I cannot even listen to one of his songs now without thinking he is a woman beater. And I know there is always two sides to every story but no matter what the story is, Chris Brown should have never put his hands on Rihanna. Period.
I just hope Chris Brown realizes what he has done is wrong and get the proper treatment and help in order to try and stop it. We all know he can afford it…
I really just hope the two of them find peace in this whole mess and come to a positive closing in time.
March 5th, 2009 at 12:55 pm
I hope they make a big example out of his punk ass like they did Paris Hilton. It’s sickening how celebrities get away with crazy shiz….
March 5th, 2009 at 1:00 pm
WAKE UP RIHANNA! Chris needs way more than anger management classes. They both need some serious therapy whether or not they are together.
March 5th, 2009 at 1:13 pm
When he does it again I hope she doesn’t waste anymore time whining that he hit her. She’ll just go back to him… I’m over hearing about this!!
March 5th, 2009 at 1:16 pm
Holy shiz! That report goes far beyond what I think anybody thought happened! Punching AND driving? Biting? Cell phone throwing?!? Pure crazyness! Poor Rhianna! She needs to really read what happened to her and relive it so that she can realize he is scum of the earth.
March 5th, 2009 at 1:35 pm
If all the reports are true. Just reliving that night mentally is unacceptable. What would compel someone to continue to be with such a person that causes upset, anger, sadness, pain, hopelessness, etc.
March 5th, 2009 at 2:30 pm
Good for the police and DA for pursuing this case with or without Rihanna assistance. It’s so sad, but in our society today, if they didn’t go after Chris Brown and he were to assault her someday in the future, then everyone would be blaming them for not doing more. Maybe seeing the case against Brown laid out in court will be the wake up call for Rihanna to get as far away from this guy as possible.
March 5th, 2009 at 3:08 pm
I don’t know Calf. law at all but if she were in my state she would have to testify to what happen according to what she told the police what happen that night, she can’t lie she can however say she doesn’t remember.Lots of times in these cases the victim gets back with their attacker and they don’t want to testify so that is why the law is so the victim loses their right and the D.A.’S office is pressing charges against the attacker. As some of you have already stated once an abuser lots of time they are always abusers and than can turn to murders !! Its really sad. I agree with a lot of the feelings posted here.
March 5th, 2009 at 3:44 pm
Whatever happened to the good ‘ole days when a young woman’s father and brothers would have “helped” the police deal with guys like him?
March 5th, 2009 at 3:50 pm
Holy sh*t I didn’t think that comment would be that long sorry
