It’s been an ice age since we’ve seen Benjamin McKenzie on the small screen (when last we saw him on TV he was the bad boy from The OC) but NEVER FEAR … he’s back. The struggling network NBC is premiering a new series called Southland which features Ben in the role of Ben Sherman, mall cop police officer. McKenzie is paired up with character actor Michael Cudlitz who you may recognize as the “douchey” guy from Beverly Hills, 90210 … among other “douchey” roles he’s played on other shows. My guess is that he plays a “douchey” cop in this series but that is unimportant right now. Here are a few photos of Ben and Michael standing around and posing in their police uniforms on the SoCal set of Southland this week:
Lawd … I could really get into seeing Benjamin in a cop uniform from week to week but I fear that this show won’t be able to keep my interests beyond that to keep me coming back week after week. Nothing that NBC has put on the air in recent weeks and months has really grabbed my attention. Kath & Kim just had its season finale and I was so blah about the whole season. Mya Rudolph was a great mid-season addition but, overall, the show just doesn’t entertain me. Heroes, I’m sorry to say, hasn’t been interesting to me for months. I still have the last 5 eps saved on my DVR but just can’t be arsed to watch them … I don’t care any more. David and I watched Kings on Sunday night … didn’t do a thing for me. There is so much other interesting stuff to watch that I don’t even think about NBC anymore. I’m willing to give Southland a try but … I’m not holding my breath. What do y’all think … is the sight of Benjamin McKenzie in a cute little cop uniform enough to get you to tune in? Any OC old-skoolers in the hiz?

Very excited to see this show…I saw a preview for it when I went to see Watchmen. We’ll see if its any good.

Oh, and for those of you wondering what Adam Brody is up to, him and a few of his friends bought the copyrights to some book and are now writing a script for it.
I know his brother, so yeah…
The OC is and always will be one of my faves and Ben McKenzie is on my “TOP 5″ (the celebs I can sleep with if I run into them and my hubby can’t get mad).
I loved the OC. I admit that sheepishly, since I’m, um, hrumph, well into my thirties…

Cudlitz is is so fuckin hot. I don’t care if he is old enough to be my dad. I want that man. I wish he lived in florida. ………………… I loved him in Band of Brothers.

Besides The Office and 30 Rock, my other favorite show is Friday Night Lights. You have to check it out! Every episode has brilliant, raw acting and really touching moments.

Okkkaaay, 24, 30, who cares? He was supposed to be 16, and was making out with an actual 16 year old. It’s an 8 year difference. Still weird, IMO.
Well, there’s a big difference between 30 and 24… and Adam Brody was 23 so it’s not like Ben was the only actor in his twenties.
Oh, and FYI, Mischa wasn’t 16 she was 17 (going on 18) when they started shooting the show, so the age different was 6-7 years. But I really don’t see what’s the big deal especially when she looked much older than 17.
Allie, one of my friends married a 28 year old when she was 18… Mischa was almost 18 when Ben (24) played her boyfriend on the show… as MG said, is a 6-7 year difference really a big deal? I am Mischa’s age (I’m 23 now) and Ben is 30, and if he asked me out… I would totally say yes!!! :-P
lol, I know this is kind of late, but @ allie, in Season 1, Ben looked younger than Mischa, haha… so who cares if he was really 7 years older? Mischa looked in her 20s and Ben had a baby face looking like an actual teenager (maybe around 18).
